KEVIN DRISCOLL has been enjoying re-engaging
TOM BYRNE and TIM TRAUTMAN were happy to be on campus this past spring for Reunion Weekend to hear ALLAN O’CONNOR’S remarks as he was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus. Allan’s achievements and remarks made quite an impression on the student body and many Avonians seeking to get involved with and learn from his good works approached him. Al is committed to return to campus for the Class of ’75’s 40th reunion in May 2015 and hopes to see as many of his classmates as possible. Tom, Tim, and Al will also work together on gatherings around that time.
with alumni and past parents around the country in his new role as a major gifts officer at Avon. His daughter, Margie, is working in Florida and his son, BLAISE ’08, is working in New York. Kevin and his wife, Maria, enjoyed a vacation to St. Martin this summer.

‘afterglow’ of a wonderful 40th class reunion, generously hosted by ED MCCARTHY and GEOFF WISWELL. It was wonderful. It still amazes me how easy it is to pick up with classmates that you may not have seen in decades. In some ways, it’s like we never left.” On the news side: George and partners closed the business he has been connected to for 30 years this past April. He is now with the survivors of that company in a new venture called Integrative Wellness and Physical Therapy in Bloomfield, Conn., and it is going well. He is also working at Mt. Sinai Rehab Hospital in Hartford, where he is attempting to integrate traditional and alternative therapy techniques. Interestingly, George began his career 31 years ago at Mt. Sinai, and seems to have come full circle. BILL SOBOLIK is engaged for the first time. His
fiancée is Martha (Marty) McBride and he feels blessed to be inheriting into his life, as well as a wife, a stepdaughter, Shannon, and her daughter, Lila, 3. He has been doing computer services (All American Computer Support) and likes the Denver area. Bill, Marty, and Lila attended the Avon Denver reception in July at Coors Field. Their wedding is planned for July 1, 2015.
TOM BYRNE and his wife, Ellen, vacationed in
Brewster, Mass., on Cape Cod this summer, where Tom enjoys boating. Their daughter, Kelsey, is a senior at Villanova, pursuing the nursing program. Tom continues as president of Thomas Byrne Associates, Incorporated, in Farmington, Conn. WOODY WOODWELL’S son RICHARD ’08 made the Dean’s List at Suffolk Law School. Woody’s widow, Linda, continues on the board at Avon where, along with Woody’s old friends, she has created a scholarship in honor and memory of Woody. Their older daughter is at College of Charleston and their younger daughter is in high school in Ho Ho Kus, NJ. TIM TRAUTMAN has been the leading major gifts officer at Tabor Academy. His return to Tabor was like going home, as he grew up on Tabor’s campus, where his father, George, worked before becoming headmaster at Avon. Tim left Tabor during the summer and is sailing around the world on a year’s trip with friend Joan Blanchard, who he has known since they were teenagers. JEFF GLAZE was elected council president of
the western Massachusetts council of the Boy Scouts of America, leading 7,000 scouts and 2,000 volunteers. Glaze has been active in industry and philanthropy since his youth. In 1991, he assumed the presidency of Decorated Products in Westfield, then founded ERP Center for Excellence in 2007, a software consulting company where he remains president. Glaze also serves as president of the Stanley Park of Westfield, Inc., and president of the Friends of the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School. Jeff lives in Southampton and has three grown children, Justin, Jordan, and Jocelyn.
ALEX WORLEY and his wife, Maureen, live in Clinton, close to the Connecticut shore, and they have two grown children. Their daughter Lauren, 31, is teaching first grade in Arlington, Va., at a private school, and their son Alex, 36, has two children of his own. Alex Sr.’s granddaughter turned five and he says, “She already knows how to run the world.” Grandson Tyler is 10 and plays AAU baseball for the Hartford Capitals and also came to the Avon Old Farms summer baseball camp this summer. Alex Sr. and his son own a family business, A & R Mechanical Services, Inc., in Glastonbury. PETER RICE became a grandfather. His stepdaughter, Enyi Koene, and her husband, Ludovic Sardain, blessed them with a baby boy this summer. James Hisseblay Sardain was born on the 4th of July in Paris. James is their first-born and Peter and Tieba’s only grandchild (“So far,” says Peter). Peter continues to teach at Avon. In addition to Peter’s stepdaughter, Adjovi, now grown, he and Tieba also have a son, MATTHEW ’15.

78 JOHN M. GARVEY, Head Class Agent
389 Haines Ave., Long Beach, CA 90814 jmgarvey@garvspace.com JOHN GARVEY was back for reunion last spring
from California. DON DOEG joined John down at the baseball field that Saturday during the reunion. Still a rocket engineer, John and his wife, Kimberly, are kept busy by daughter Jessica, 10. John has been in contact with BOB MARTINO, Don’s legal colleague at a Hartford law firm. John also managed to briefly (“very, very briefly,” he said) say hello to JUAN NIEVES ’83 at a recent Red Sox versus Angels game in Anaheim.
