In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, individuals and communities were pushed to change to the way they lived, worked, and interacted with one another. ASU’s approach to these complex challenges led to the development of The Diagnostics Commons Project, a collaboration between the College of Health Solutions and Decision Theater. With funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, and in partnership with the World Economic Forum, the ASU team worked to combine inputs and expertise from global health and economic professionals to share information and best practices related to COVID-19 response. The Diagnostics Commons addressed questions such as:

How are industries responding to COVID-19?

How can we move the economy forward while keeping workers safe?

Where can I find new and useful information on COVID-19 and COVID-19 testing?

and humanitarian threats brought onby COVID-19, ASU researchers partnered with Decision Theater to create the COVID-19 Diagnostics Commons. This multifaceted hub presents public-facing dashboards with key information and metrics for COVID-19 related policies and workplace practices. Decision Theater collaborated with the College of Health Solutions to determine the best ways to group, visualize and display information to ensure it is easily digestible by wide audiences ranging fromexperts to policy makers and laypeople. DT’s expertise in data analytics, UX/UI design, and software development was critical in designing the survey, formatting questions and responses, and identifying proper visualizations for the information. Today, users around the world are benefiting from the centralized Diagnostics Commons platform. Economies are opening more safely and sustainably in the COVID-19 era because of the advanced knowledge provided and shared by this visionary, dedicated, and integrated team.
