WELCOME TO LAKE NATOMA: A California State Park
The Sacramento State Aquatic Center is a cooperative operation of the Associated Students of California State University, Sacramento, the University Union of Sacramento State, California Division of Boating and Waterways, the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the Bureau of Reclamation. The center was established in 1981 to provide high quality boating safety education through recreation, education and competition. The center offers university kinesiology classes, leisure classes for the general public, competitive teams, a series of progressive summer camps and youth programs. The Aquatic Center augments the academic curriculum at Sacramento State and is open to Sacramento State students, faculty, staff, Sacramento State alumni, as well as the general public. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni receive a discount with their valid Sacramento State One-Card or current Alumni card. Our facility occupies eight acres of land and is one of the finest in the state. Features include: beach area, picnic tables, barbecues, four docks, classrooms, and convenient parking.
Facility Guidelines
•Open water swimmers are required to swim from Nimbus Flat State Park.
•Beach facilities are available to rent by reservation ONLY.
•Life jackets are provided free of charge for use at Lake Natoma. (Must sign contract and leave a valid ID)
•Do not lounge, swim, or fish from the docks.
•Fishing is not permitted at the facility.
•Dogs are not allowed on the property or in the watercraft.
•Park in designated parking areas. No parking in front of gates or roadways.
• The Aquatic Center Parking Lot is for Aquatic Center Customers Only. People using the bike trail will be redirected to Nimbus Flat State Park where a $10.00 Cash Parking fee applies.
•Vehicles improperly parked will be cited and towed.
•Glass containers are not permitted on the grounds.
• Alcohol is not permitted on the premises (special use permits are available).
• The Aquatic Center is a Tobacco and Drug Free Zone. No Smoking or chewing of tobacco products, or drugs in any form is permitted.
• No one under the influence or intoxicated by alcohol or other drugs is allowed to recreate at the Aquatic Center.
• Please observe hours of operation which are posted in the front office and online. Operating hours depend on the season and change frequently.
•Do not feed the wildlife–ducks, geese, squirrels, etc.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area offers camping at Folsom Lake, hiking, biking and horseback riding along wooded trails, and boating on both Lake Natoma and Folsom Lake.
Points of interest when visiting Lake Natoma


•There are 3 points of access for boating: Black Miner’s Bar, Willow Creek and Nimbus Flat.
•The Lake is home to the first Hydro Electric Power Plant west of the Mississippi (Folsom Power House).

•The entire area has been mined for gold.
•Folsom and Nimbus Dam were created in 1955 for flood protection, hydroelectric, water storage and recreation.
•Salmon and steelhead are spawn in the fish hatchery below Nimbus Dam.
• Lake Natoma is in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. Please abide by the State Park Rules including: No Glass Bottles – No Alcohol!
• ALWAYS WEAR YOUR PFD WHILE BOATING!
•Lake Natoma is a 5mph Speed Zone. Personal watercraft and water skiing are prohibited.
