The Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS) is an innovative and bold new way of managing our fresh water. The strategy affects every person in Canterbury, because it sets goals for freshwater management for now and the future. It will help to ensure safe drinking water supplies, sustainable farming practices and clean rivers and streams, as well as enhancing recreational opportunities and protecting environment and cultural values. Six of Canterbury’s ten zone committees are now calling for expressions of interest for new community members. This will enable each committee to refresh two community members each year for the next three years, and ensure new perspectives will be represented on the committees, while still ensuring continuity.
