e all know there are spirits in Europe that do not have American distribution. If you’re lucky enough to taste one that’s exemplary, this knowledge morphs into curiosity that inevitably boils down to a single question: Is this bottle ever going to make it to the U.S.? (There’s also the question of how many bottles of the juice can fit into your luggage, but that’s another question for another article). It’s not a question easily answered. But the journey toward finding that answer can be quite fascinating,

Slovakia’s Toison Gin Takes a Patient Approach to Global Growth

especially if the spirit in question comes from a country that does not carry a reputation for distilled products. The gin comes from Slovakia, the landlocked Central European country that was once under communist rule as part of Czechoslovakia. While Slovakia is known for producing a few known commodities in the global bar scene (read: internationally acclaimed bartenders), spirits is a different animal.
