Archives of New Traditional Architecture
The mission of the School of Architecture is to educate leaders to address the critical issues facing the built environment via research, professional activity, and public service. We do this through the study of classical and traditional architecture and urbanism. Human flourishing necessitates sustainable development patterns that stand the test of time, facilitate a strong social infrastructure, and deliver a better world for future generations. We believe these aspirations are best achieved by drawing precedent from traditional architectural and urban forms that relate to a human scale, respond to context, and are calibrated for local cultures and climates. While learning to design in the Greco-Roman classical tradition of architecture is a central part of this education, it represents only a narrow facet within the depth and breadth of precedents to be gleaned and utilized from cultures throughout the world and across human history.
