A Race Against Blindness

Gilbert, Arizona, United States

https://araceagainstblindness.org/

Founded from personal urgency and hope, A Race Against Blindness is committed to advocating for people affected by blindness, retinitis pigmentosa, Bardet-Biedl syndrome, and other vision-impairing disorders. Our inspiration is our son Luke, whose rare genetic diagnosis means he is slowly losing his sight. His journey opened our eyes to a larger reality: while the FDA classifies more than 7,000 rare diseases, most lack sufficient funding for meaningful research because they impact relatively few individuals. As a result, promising therapies often struggle to advance. Despite remarkable innovation in medical science—particularly in treatments aimed at preserving or restoring vision—progress is frequently stalled by financial limitations. To create real change, we operate with transparency and dedicate our funds to a rigorously evaluated clinical trial grounded in sound science. Our focused commitment strengthens outcomes and fosters donor trust. With your support, we can advocate for streamlined FDA approvals and expand access to transformative therapies.
