Clark and Division by Naomi Hirahara In this historical crime fiction novel, twentyyear-old Aki Ito searches for the truth about her revered older sister's death in 1944 Chicago, after her family was released from mass incarceration at Manzanar during World War II. Clark and Division is a wonderful choice for book groups that love historical fiction and mysteries. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir Project Hail Mary’s Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission--and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. An ingenious science fiction novel that’s hard to put down and will spark a lot of conversation.

Message from our Director

Mensaje de nuestra Directora You might have seen from our social media, website, or in-library promotions, that the library is in the process of creating a new strategic plan to help us serve you better. We asked for your input through community surveys and focus groups, and if you participated in any of that, thank you! Some of you might have also given us your thoughts recently about how the new bookmobile should look and feel, or about what the paint and carpet colors you’d prefer at the West Branch, or about what your priorities are for branch renovations. Maybe you’ve filled out a comment card, left us a message on Facebook, or made a remark to a staff member. You might even have let us know what our library card design should be! We love to hear from you, and we’re taking it all into account as we plan for the future. So keep it coming! Let us hear from you, however you like to get in touch with us. Making Memories

A child came up to me with two huge, geography books and asked how to buy them. I explained that they could borrow them with a library card. “I can get a library card?!” they asked. They looked at their caregiver, and then they both looked at me. I explained what they needed to do, and they went straight to our Customer Service Desk and received a new card! The next day, they walked into my program and flashed their new library card with a big smile. I love taking pictures of kids getting their first library card! It’s like the world is opening up to them in a new way, and it’s empowering!"
