honors inspirational women who are role models in their personal and professional lives, and whose trailblazing leadership and philanthropic efforts make a difference for our community’s youth. Alongside them, A Place Called Home celebrates our own special group of young women–APCH members who are empowered and committed to improving their own lives and contributing to their communities and the world.

Welcome to the 2023 GirlPower! Luncheon, a celebration of our wonderful APCH GirlPower girls and our inspiring honorees, Lauri Brown and Kathryn Frazier! On behalf of all of us, our members, families, staff, and board, thank you for joining us here today.

This is a very special occasion because it is not only my first GirlPower Luncheon as CEO, but A Place Called Home is celebrating 30 years of service! Since 1993, APCH has been a vital resource for our South Central community, and your support has helped us directly serve more than 20,000 youth members and 150,000 community members. Now, we are excited to continue to innovate and grow to serve even more young people and families for another 30 years!

As the first Latina CEO of this organization and a proud daughter of immigrants, this event has a special place in my heart. When I look at our GirlPower cohort, I am reminded of my younger self.

I am truly inspired by these young women – their courage, passion, and energy. They are going to change the world and I am so proud that I and APCH get to be a part of their journeys.

And finally, I send my sincere thanks and appreciation to our amazing honorees Lauri and Kathryn. Thank you for leading the way and showing us all what it truly means to embody GirlPower! We love you!

I hope you enjoy the program and that you leave feeling energized and inspired. And please stay connected to A Place Called Home! We welcome you to join us on campus for a visit to see for yourself the magic of APCH that you are helping to create.

With gratitude,

Norayma Cabot, CEO
