Father Daughter Duo Walks Commencement Together

ommencement is a milestone moment for students as well as their proud parents.

For father-daughter duo Gary and Stephanie Pollino, of Plainview, this commencement season is even more special as both will receive Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees from Widener University’s School of Nursing in Pennsylvania.

Gary, a 15-year health care veteran, added: “It doesn’t happen too often where the parent and child get to graduate and walk together,” Gary, a 15-year health care professional, said. “That’s been an exciting highlight of life. I’m so proud of Stephanie but now I get to experience it with her, hand-in-hand walking next to her at graduation.”

Gary is earning a BSN through Widener’s online RN-to-BSN program. Stephanie is earning her BSN through Widener’s undergraduate

nursing program.

According to Stephanie, the opportunity to walk at graduation with her father is very special and fitting.

“I’m really close with my dad so the fact that my dad was a big part of why I went into nursing, it’s funny— in the best way possible—that I get to share this with him.”
