A Message from Regional Director

Carrie J. Clark Greetings Sorors of the Great Great Lakes Region, I am filled with excitement as we are set to begin the virtual 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference. This weekend, you will be transported into an atmosphere of sisterhood and service with a royal flair. The theme of this conference is “Regal in Excellence, Royal in Service,” and you will indeed experience the majesty that the Great Lakes Region has to offer through informative workshops, specialty forums and splendid signature activities all without leaving the comfort of your home. Sorors, here in the Great Lakes Region we continue to break the mold. Yet again, we are re-writing the narrative with record-setting registration for this conference surpassing 3,200 sorors. Meanwhile, the sorors of Phi Psi Omega Chapter in Forest Park, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, have been hard at work ensuring that your conference experience will be second to none. I want to thank Phi Psi Omega Chapter Basileus Soror Carolyn Patton, Conference General Chairman Soror LaTonya Y. Denson and Co-Chairman Soror Wiona W. Berry, as well as former Basileus Soror Tracy Turney-Smith for capturing the vision of this wonderful gathering. Greetings Sorors of the GREAT Great Lakes Region, It is my pleasure to welcome each of you to the 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference! Under the leadership of your Great Lakes Regional Director Soror Carrie J. Clark, we are excited to see how you continue to Exemplify Excellence Through Sustainable Service in your local communities and around the world. As you know, training is a critical component of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s success. Our conferences and seminars are designed to provide timely and relevant workshops on a variety of topics to administer the affairs of our sisterhood, execute our international programs of service and fuel our leadership pipeline. While this training has historically taken place at in-person conferences, gathering restrictions imposed to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus now require us to pivot to a virtual format. Be assured, however, that your Regional Team has worked tirelessly to ensure the same quality of conference to which you have grown accustomed. Regional Director Clark and the 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference Leadership Team look forward to welcoming sorors from Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania and Western New York to your region’s historic virtual conference! Greetings Sorors of the Great Lakes Region! Welcome to “The Queen City”! On behalf of Phi Psi Omega Chapter, it is our esteemed pleasure to roll out the pink carpet to greet you for this auspicious event as you exit your chariot and step onto the virtual throne. We look forward to a divine celebration of the 90th Virtual Great Lakes Regional Conference, “Regal in Excellence, Royal in Service”. Sorors you can almost hear the trumpet fanfare as we greet our first lady of the region, Soror Carrie J. Clark. All sorors will be in for a royal treat as we take care of the business of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and the Great Lakes Region and have an overall grand time. Conference Chairman and Co-Chairman Message Greetings Royal Sorors, It is our esteemed pleasure to welcome you to the virtual 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference, hosted by Phi Psi Omega Chapter in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are extremely excited to have you as our guests April 15 – 18, 2021, at the Royal Palace of the reigning Queen of the Great Lakes Region, Soror Carrie J. Clark.

When we began preparing for this conference in 2019, we never imagined that the pandemic would be in its second year and we would be unable to meet in person. However, with the spirit and love for Alpha Kappa Alpha, Phi Psi Omega Chapter, moved forward and rose to the occasion to host this historical conference. We are anxiously awaiting to welcome over 3000 Sorors and guests from the states of Michigan, Ohio, Western New York, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Prepare yourselves for four days of engaging themed events, enlightening workshops and forums, informative plenary sessions, memorial tribute to our Ivies, an inspirational worship service and culminating with an exciting Vendors Trunk Show.

F2 – FINANCE FORUM 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. All conference participants are invited to the Finance forum to receive information regarding the sorority’s proposed budgets for 2021 and 2022.

HEALTH CARE COVERAGE 2021 – Presented by CareSource 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. You have questions about health care coverage and we have the answers. Join us for a panel discussion to learn more about how Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare or the Marketplace) can impact you and your families.

COVID-19 AND BEYOND: ADDRESSING HEALTH EQUITY IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. This workshop will present the current status of the COVID19 pandemic with a focus on its devastating effects in the Black community. A “Pink Table Talk” featuring healthcare and public health experts will explore topics including COVID19 vaccination and other prevention strategies, long term health and social effects, and the health equity imperative. WK02 MEMBERSHIP Navigating Membership in the New Normal As we live in this new normal, it is essential to navigate membership in a virtual manner while continuing to stay connected in sisterhood. This interactive workshop will explore ways to implement virtual membership operations centered on reclamation, retention and mentoring. Recommendations will be offered for chapter retention and advocating the benefits of chapter versus general membership. Sorors will walk away with new membership best practices to undertake in their chapters using traditional and non-traditional approaches necessary to ensure increased member satisfaction and chapter sustainability.

WK03 MIP GRADUATE The 3 P’s of Implementing the Graduate MIP Process in A Pandemic: Planning, Preparing and Pushing Forward This workshop will provide chapters with a turn-by-turn directional Roadmap to ensure a successful Graduate Membership Intake Process during a Pandemic. Sorors will learn to successfully navigate the three Ps for the Modified MIP – Plan, Prepare and Push Forward by Using CDC Guidelines and the MIP Manual.

WK06 RISK MANAGEMENT 311 State of Emergency: You Are Always Wearing Your Pearls The Risk Management Task Force will discuss ways to effectively identify, assess, mitigate and eliminate risk to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Through this training with the virtual mandate under which Alpha Kappa Alpha continues to operate due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as a backdrop, the Risk Management Task Force will explore the evolution of risk management in Alpha Kappa Alpha, discuss key risk management principles and reinforce the need for chapters to develop risk management plans and for sorors to embrace their roles as risk managers.

WK08 UNDERGRADUATE ACTIVITIES Undergraduates R.E.A.C.H. For Excellence: Resilience. Excellence. Ambition. Connection. Heart. Alpha Kappa Alpha is building leaders, change agents and the innovators of tomorrow! This workshop will position undergraduates to R.E.A.C.H. their highest potential as individuals and chapter members to propel AKA to greater heights. Join us as we take a closer look at the 2020-2022 Undergraduate Activities Committee theme. Attendees also will discuss best practices for programs, brainstorm future events, talk with other undergraduates about their unique college experiences, and have the opportunity to interact with the members of the UAC.

WK 13 SISTERLY RELATIONS Sisterly Relations: Strengthening Our Pearls This workshop will focus on healing hurts and moving forward in sisterhood and service. The goal of this workshop is to address strategies that promote self-awareness, emotional intelligence, forgiveness and healing.

WK01 FINANCIAL OPERATIONS Managing Chapter Financial Operations Using the Fiscal Fitness Guide for Chapter Financial Operations This interactive workshop provides participants with information on chapter financial procedures and operations. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of the financial officers, expectations of being a financial leader and guidelines for managing financial operations. Sorors will become well versed on the information included in the Fiscal Fitness Guide for Chapter Financial Operations, which includes budgeting, auditing, internal controls and financial statement reporting.

Programs remain the heart of our amazing sisterhood. Even in the midst of a pandemic, Chapters demonstrated implementation of the Excellence Program Targets with enthusiasm and tenacity and captured a vision fair! This workshop will review a sample of innovative programs implemented during the pandemic by chapters within all regions, review at a high level all international program webinars offered during 2020, provide the 2020 virtual regional specific Excellence outcomes and suggest recommendations for beginning 2021 with main and with might! by offering additional program activities for chapters.

WK07 STANDARDS Maintaining Excellence in Standards: A Snapshot of Best Practices in a Virtual World This interactive workshop will review best practices of virtual chapter operations, including chapter meeting management, chapter records management and retention, and preparing for the chapter electronic evaluation.

WK09 TECHNOLOGY Chapter Excellence and Cyber Security in a Virtual AKA World Sorors will learn how to use technology to solve Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter challenges in the new "Virtual AKA World" This informative and interactive workshop will allow sorors to preview technology tools to ensure effective chapter operations and protect chapter assets with cyber security protocols.

Standing Rules and Protocol Reminders

Standing Rules The Rules of the Virtual 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference shall be governed by the 2018 Constitution and Bylaws and Manual of Standard Procedure of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,Incorporated®, as well as the most recent Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised Edition. Rule 1: The Great Lakes Regional Director, Soror Carrie J. Clark shall preside over the conference. Rule 2: The voting strength for this conference shall consist of the certified delegates from the chapters, and general members, along with the Former Great Lakes Regional Directors and the current Great Lakes Regional Director. Rule 3: The quorum for the 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference shall be one-third of the registered certified delegates of the Great Lakes Region. Rule 4: All certified delegates must adhere to voting guidelines stated in the April 5, 2021 delegate meeting. Rule 5: A delegate who has to leave the conference shall notify the Chapter Basileus and the Chapter Basileus shall notify the Great Lakes Region Technology Chairman at pearltechglr@gmail.com. The alternate taking her place shall assume her status as a delegate for the remainder of the conference upon clearance by the Great Lakes Region Technology Committee. A general member delegate shall notify the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Great Lakes Regional Director at glrofficestaff@gmail.com. The Chief of Staff will notify the Great Lakes Region Technology Chairman and contact the general member alternate who shall assume her status as delegate for the remainder of the conference. Rule 6: Each business session and all program activities must be carried out in accordance with the official agenda. The Regional Director has the authority to end any sessions and/or programs that are exceeding their scheduled time. Changes to the business sessions and/or program activities may be completed at the discretion of the Regional Director. Rule 7: The first speaker at plenary sessions or other closed events shall use the following greeting: “To Madam Regional Director, Soror Carrie J. Clark; Madam Supreme Basileus. Soror Glenda Glover; Members of the Directorate; to our former Supreme Basilei; our former Regional Directors; and all others who serve Alpha Kappa Alpha, Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening, sorors.” All others who follow need only acknowledge the Regional Director, Soror Carrie J. Clark, and the Supreme Basileus, Soror Glenda Glover, or the First Supreme Anti-Basileus, Soror Danette Anthony Reed, and then proceed with their committee reports. Rule 8: The Regional Director shall appoint Chairmen and Officers to serve at the Virtual Regional Conference. Rule 9: The conference is accessible to registered sorors and registered guests, only. Therefore, only registered attendees should view and/or listen to the conference. To protect the confidentiality of the conference, registered attendees should be in a private space/room or use headphones when participating in the business sessions and workshops. Rule 10: Each soror who wishes to address the Presiding Officer to pose a question or comment must do so by entering her submission via the function available through the meeting platform. The soror must state her name, chapter name and location, and delegate status when recognized by the Presiding Officer. Rule 11: A soror shall speak and debate not more than once on the same question during the same business session for a period not to exceed two minutes. Rule 12: All sorors registered for the Virtual 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference have a voice to speak at the conference; however, only certified delegates and other approved voting members of the conference shall be entitled to make motions, second motions, participate in debate and vote.

Standing Rules - continued Rule 13: The Regional Director or Presiding Officer shall rule out of order any discussion, debate or proposal not related specifically to the agenda item. Rule 14: All sorors logging in to the business sessions and workshops are asked to turn off cellphones, pagers and other electronic devices or set on the inaudible vibrate mode. Use of broadcasting and electronic video, sound or photographic recording devices is prohibited during business sessions and workshops unless approved by the Presiding Officer. In addition, texting, tweeting and/or posting to any social media outlet regarding information discussed in business sessions is prohibited. If needed, sorors should log out of the room if she must use a phone. Rule 15: The only exception to Rule Fourteen will be in the instances where awards are presented during the Gala, Public Meeting, and Banquet. Rule 16: Copies of all reports shall be typed and submitted electronically to the Conference Grammateus, Regina Randall at glgrammateus@gmail.com immediately following presentation to the Conference. Rule 17: All sorors must LOG IN AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY to ALL virtual conference meetings and events. Rule 18: All International and Regional reports, except the Regional Bylaw Recommendation Report shall be received for information only. Rule 19: Sorors are responsible for ensuring the stability of their internet connection in order to participate in the Virtual 90th Great Lakes Regional Conference. No refunds will be issued. Resolutions RESOLUTION #1: CORONAVIRUS -19 (COVID-19) WHEREAS, The World Health Organization (WHO) official classified COVID-19 as the mysterious Corona Virus Related Pneumonia, a human transmittable virus to the world, from Wuhan, China, on January 9, 2020; and WHEREAS, the WHO issued a global health emergency and Center for Disease Control (CDC) declared that COVID-19 was headed toward pandemic status on March 11, 2020; and WHEREAS, over half a million Americans have died and a disproportionate number of people who have died have been African Americans; and WHEREAS, there continues to be a lack of access to quality, affordable health care in the African American community and COVID-19 has killed a disproportionately high number of African Americans; and WHEREAS, Other mitigating factors continue to contribute to the high death rate in the African American communities, such as access to health care, education in disease management, good insurance and transportation; and WHEREAS, these ailments stem from structural racism that leaves a certain group of people at odds with obtaining good health and wealth; and WHEREAS, people who have good insurance and visit their doctors regularly are more apt to seek when they develop symptoms of an illness; and WHEREAS, The CDC only has data by race for approximately 36% of the nation’s confirmed cases of COVID-19; and WHEREAS, there is no accurate race reporting data that shows the disproportionate devastation of COVID-19 in the African American communities throughout the Great Lakes Region; therefore, be it, RESOLVED: The Sorors of the Great Lakes Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, acknowledge the deep loss and sorrow of each family experiencing loss and expresses deepest sympathy and condolences, and therefore be it; FUTHUR RESOLVED: The Sorors of the Great Lakes Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, request their states to increase COVID-19 reporting transparency in regard to race and ethnicity, increase access to health care for minorities, decrease bias in testing and treatment and improve quality of life issues that contribute to greater number of African American deaths.

Resolutions Resolution #2: VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA D. HARRIS WHEREAS, Kamala Harris is the eldest daughter of Shyamala Gopalan and Donald Harris; and WHEREAS, as a child in kindergarten she was bused as part of Berkley California’s comprehensive desegregation program for better educational opportunities, and WHEREAS, Kamala Harris entered Howard University in 1982 and majored in political science and economics; and WHEREAS, she joined thirty-six young phenomenal women who saw the light and believed in service to all mankind; and WHEREAS, the Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated welcomed Kamala into Alpha chapter on March 15, 1986, and WHEREAS, Soror Harris graduated from Howard University and returned to California and graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of Law; and WHEREAS, Kamala began her legal career as a Deputy district attorney in Alameda County California, and WHEREAS, in 2004 she was the first person of color elected as the San Francisco District Attorney; and WHEREAS, Kamala was also elected as the first black and the first South Asian American woman to hold the position of California Attorney General; and WHEREAS, in 2016 Kamala was elected to the United States Senate, being the second black woman to garner this honor; and WHEREAS, Kamala Harris was the first black woman to appear on a major political party national ticket in 2020; and WHEREAS, she was elected as the first woman to serve as the Vice President of these United States; with more than 81 million votes; therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the sorors of the Great Lakes Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® congratulate Soror Kamala Harris on her momentous achievement; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sorors of the Great Lakes Region continue to encourage people to remain engaged in the political process because we understand the power of the people; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sorors of the Great Lakes Region continue to encourage all children regardless of race, ethnicity or gender to pursue their dreams because our future has no limits.

TARGET 1: HBCU FOR LIFE: A CALL TO ACTION

The Cincinnati Association of Black University and College Alumni (CABUCA) was established in 1981 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to promote attendance at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Its mission is to inform, educate, advocate and connect the local community to the unique advantages of attending and supporting HBCUs. Through the collaborative efforts of local alumni chapters that represent many historically Black colleges and universities, CABUCA strives to: 1) expose high school students and parents to HBCU programs, culture, professional resources and alumni; 2) champion HBCUs in local communities; 3) link HBCUs to prospective students, parents and alumni; 4) sponsor college preparation seminars and 5) provide guidance in establishing or developing HBCU alumni chapters. Major programs sponsored by CABUCA include: the annual Black College Fair, Jaqueline Carr Essay Contest Scholarship, college access workshops, financial and college life seminars and preparation in Greater Cincinnati high school college fairs. Our vision is that all HBCUs, while maintaining their rich heritage and identity, thrive financially with a strong pipeline of economically diverse students who benefit academically and socially from the HBCU experience. TARGET 2: WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE AND WELLNESS DOLORES LINDSAY

Established in 1967, The HealthCare Connection (formerly the Lincoln Heights Health Center) was the very first community health center in the state of Ohio. THCC was founded by Dolores J. Lindsay, a health activist, in a four-room apartment house with a $10,000 grant from the Village of Lincoln Heights, Ohio. She, along with a handful of churches, volunteer physicians and dentists, pooled their resources and established a medical home that would provide prenatal, pediatric and dental care services for patients who had nowhere else to get the medical care they needed. Today, THCC has seven locations including the Lincoln Heights Health Center, the Mt. Healthy Family Practice Center, the Forest Park Health Center, two co-locations with Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services and two Princeton Viking School-Based Health Centers. Our staff provides medical, dental and behavioral health services to patients that may not otherwise be able to afford the healthcare services they need. We provide quality, affordable and accessible primary healthcare services to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. We work with patients on a sliding scale to provide services that are more affordable to them. The mission of The HealthCare Connection (THCC) is to provide quality, culturally sensitive and accessible primary healthcare services focusing on the medically underserved, underinsured and uninsured residing in northern Hamilton County and surrounding areas. THCC serves more than 17,000 patients through more than 42,000 office visits yearly.

TARGET 3: BUILDING YOUR ECONOMIC LEGACY The Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1996 by a group of Black business owners and consumers seeking to improve the economic status of the African American community. The Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce is the largest African American chamber in the State of Ohio. The vision was to form an organization to: advocate on behalf of emerging and established businesses, help to create new market opportunities, and provide access to capital, and revitalize communities. The Chamber is committed to inclusion as well as business development focused on advocacy and building capacity. The mission is to establish, cultivate and strengthen consumer and business relationships; provide access to major corporate markets for members by increasing business opportunities; aiding in their professional development including forging strategic partnerships and alliances for the purpose of strengthening and growing the African American business community.

TARGET 4: THE ARTS! BI-OKOTO

Bl-OKOTO was established in 1994 as a professional African dance company comprised of highly talented artists and was incorporated in August 1996 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit multicultural performing arts organization in the state of Ohio. Our mission is to preserve, promote and share the rich cultural heritage of Africa and Africans using drums, music, dance, food, languages and other expressions of the arts. Over the years, Bl-OKOTO has grown to be one of the most artistically accomplished and stable cultural institutes in the tri-state. Bi-Okoto has toured and performed in 48 states within the US. The artists have also toured internationally representing Nigeria in South Korea’s Youth Festival and performing in Presidential welcomes in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and France. Bi-Okoto was selected for three consecutive years, 2003-2005, by Armed Forces Entertainment to perform for five-week military tours in the United Kingdom, Norway, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. During the tours, Bi-Okoto provided artistic cultural performances for troops in honor of Black History Month. Bi-Okoto is highly regarded for its innovative programming and dance repertory-locally, nationally and internationally. Our organization envisions a world where individuals, families and communities take pride in their cultural heritage while appreciating the cultural expression of others. 60

TARGET 5: GLOBAL IMPACT VILLAGE LIFE OUTREACH PROJECT Dr. Christopher Lewis is a Cincinnati native whose mission is to serve others. As Vice Provost for Academic Programs at the University of Cincinnati, he strives to advance the impact of education on the lives of tens of thousands of students. He is also a family physician for UC Health and a Professor of Family Medicine at the UC’s College of Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Harvard University, where he was initiated into the Theta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., then trained at UC for medical school and residency. A true global citizen, Lewis has dedicated much of his professional career to bringing health care to communities all over the world, but specifically to remote villages in the East African country of Tanzania. In 2004, he founded Village Life Outreach Project, a non-profit organization with a mission to “unite communities to promote Life, Health, and Education.” In a catchment area of 25,000 people, Village Life uses a partnership model to co-create and implement successful community projects including opening a health center, building a school, operating a feeding program to feed thousands of Tanzanian school children, and installing water distribution systems to supply clean water to thousands of residents. In this work, Lewis acts as a human bridge between his community here in Cincinnati, and those he meets on his trips to Tanzania. He and Village Life Outreach Project have connected local students with those in Tanzania to collaborate on projects in art, vocabulary and global citizenship. Lewis is entrenched in the Cincinnati community, doing everything possible to provide the best service to community members and recruit and train doctors that represent people in the community. He has served many organizations including the Cincinnati Board of Health, the Doctors Foundation, and the Cincinnati Medical Association. Lewis is passionate about his family, including his wife Alicia and daughters Grace (6) and Vivian (4.)

SOROR GLENDA GLOVER Supreme Basileus SOROR GLENDA GLOVER is Supreme Basileus of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and President of her beloved alma mater, Tennessee State University. The Memphis, Tennessee native was initiated into Alpha Psi Chapter at TSU in 1971. Soror Glover leads our prestigious organization of more than 300,000 members under the theme "Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service." She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with honors, an MBA degree in Accounting from Clark Atlanta University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics and Business degree from George Washington University. She then went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center. A trailblazer in her own right, she is one of a handful of African-American women to hold a Ph.D-CPA-J.D. combination in the United States. Soror Glover has authored more than 100 articles and papers. She is also one of the nation's foremost experts on corporate governance.

SOROR DANETTE ANTHONY REED First Supreme Anti-Basileus SOROR DANETTE ANTHONY REED serves as First Supreme Anti-Basileus of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. She is a Life Member, initiated into the Gamma Chi Chapter at Northwestern University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. She has an MBA from Southern Methodist University and is a retired corporate executive for PepsiCo, Frito-Lay Division. She is a Charter Member of Omicron Mu Omega in Dallas, Texas. Soror Reed also made history as the first African-American woman Plant Director for Frito-Lay. She is a Charter Member of the Greater Denton County Chapter of The Links, Inc., a member of the Carrousels of Dallas, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., and a Board Member for the YMCA of Plano, Texas.

SOROR DOROTHY BUCKHANAN WILSON 29th Supreme Basileus SOROR DOROTHY BUCKHANAN WILSON served as the 29th Supreme Basileus of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® from 2014-2018 under the transformational program theme "Launching New Dimensions of Service (LNDS)." She led the $6 million-dollar renovation of the Corporate Headquarters in Chicago and membership increased 25% during her administration. The South Carolina native is recognized across the globe as a high impact, innovative leader and series host who gets results. Buckhanan Wilson earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Benedict College and she holds an MBA degree from Clark Atlanta University. In 2015, she received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree (L.H.D.) from Benedict College. She has also received proclamations and keys to more than 100 cities. Currently, she is President of D Innovare Consulting.

SOROR NORMA SOLOMON WHITE 25th Supreme Basileus SOROR NORMA SOLOMON WHITE served as the 25th Supreme Basileus of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. The Jacksonville, Florida native attended Florida A&M where she was the first female member of the well-known FAMU Marching 100 Band to graduate and first female Band Director. She earned a BS degree from FAMU, an MA in music from Columbia University in New York and an honorary doctorate from FAMU. Her musical talents also took her to Julliard School of Music in New York. While Supreme Basileus, she started the sorority’s “On Track” program to help prepare at-risk elementary school students to help them prepare for middle school. She is a former South Atlantic Regional Director. She also is the first Supreme Basileus to be part of a mother-daughter legacy.

MARION “POOCH” HALL MARION “POOCH” HALL is an actor who has made his mark on the big screen and small screen for twenty years. The film actor and model is known for his role as Derwin Davis, the football player on the CW/BET sitcom the Game, and as Ricky in the 2011 film Jumping the Broom. He also played the character of Daryll Donovan in the Showtime drama Ray Donovan. Hall portrayed Muhammad Ali in the 2016 sports biopic, Chuck, about Ali’s opponent Chuck Wepner in the Ali-Wepner 1975 World Heavyweight Title Boxing bout. A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, Hall won the Southern New England Golden Gloves for boxing. He studied acting with the UMass Dartmouth Theatre Company. Hall is married with four children.

MICHELE THORNTON GHEE MICHELE THORNTON GHEE is the CEO of Ebony and Jet. She is charged with the revitalization and growth of the brand. Ghee has worked for some of the most powerful companies in the world including WME, CNN, A&E, The History Channel and BET Networks. While at BET, Michele created and ran the first and only network for Black women: BETHer. She began her career at SBC Communications in Oakland, California. She is an expert in culture, leadership, strategy, customer service, revenue generation and relationship building. Ghee has received honors from Multichannel News 2019 Wonder Woman, Working Mother of the Year Award Class of 2018, The ADCOLOR Change Agent Award and The American Federation of Mosaic Role Model of the Year Award. Ghee has authored three books: Stratechic: Life and Career Winning Strategies for Women, Stratechic 2.0: Her Plan, Her Power, Her Purpose and Success on Your Terms. She resides in New Jersey with her husband Tony and kids Taylor and Jordan.

SOROR RASHAN ALI SOROR RASHAN ALI is a multi-media personality with a passion for all things media and empowering women. She is a formidable and revered personality within the sports and entertainment industries. While attending Florida A & M University as a Broadcast Journalism major, Rashan knew that she wanted to share her voice with the world. She became heavily involved in the entertainment scene in Atlanta, working for LaFace records and as the personal assistant to the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Rashan entered a contest searching for new talent on Atlanta radio station HOT 107.9 FM and was handpicked from over 500 applicants to join popular radio personality Ryan Cameron on-air. The program was #1 in the morning time slot. She then went on to become the host of the “A-Team” Morning Show on the same station. In addition, Rashan was a sideline reporter for the Atlanta Hawks and worked with other sports media. Most recently Rashan served as one of four co-hosts of the nationally syndicated talk show “Sister Circle” on TVOne. In 2006, she launched the non-profit Sporty Girls, Inc. to encourage young girls to play non-traditional sports like golf, soccer and lacrosse. She’s a member of Pi Alpha Omega chapter.

MICHON YOUNG MICHON C. YOUNG vocalist/songwriter resides in Detroit, Mi and considers Detroit her second hometown though born and raised in Gary, Indiana. Her musical talent was recognized by Pastor Marvin L. Winans which led to singing background on his 1st solo CD and performed a duet with him at the opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. She has opened for countless mainstream artists and continues to be a sought after opening act performer. Michon has topped the charts since 2016 with her first debut song, “Something About You”. This song quickly rose to #1 instantly in the UK and Indie Soul Charts. Her first project, “Love Life Experiences” was released in April 2017. This entire album was quite successful in the UK and United States. A total of 8 songs from this 13 track project topped the charts in 2017. Her second release in the US, “Its All About Me” made Indie Music history and ranked #1 on the Official Indie Soul Chart for 6 consecutive weeks averaging over 2K spins a week. Michon Young is a refreshing talent and is sure to sustain longevity with her soulful sound , lyrically potent tracks and overall funky yet uniquely jazz-infused SOUND.

ARICA JACKSON ARICA JACKSON is a singer, actor, and dancer from Michigan. She has a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. She has performed in the National tour and the Broadway Production of Waitress the Musical. She made her Broadway debut in Head Over Heels and is currently in the Broadway Production of Caroline, or Change.

JARRON MUSE JARRON MUSE was seen starring as Marvin Gaye in Berry Gordy’s Motown the Musical on Broadway and the First National tour. He also played young Marvin Gaye in Pride & Joy - The Marvin Gaye Musical where he received the Black Theater Alliance Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Other BROADWAY/NYC credits include: Ain’t Too Proud, The Life and Times of the Temptations, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Hallelujah Baby, and Dreamgirls at the Apollo Theater. He has toured the world with Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock N Roll, Green Day’s American Idiot, 42nd Street, and Hairspray. He gives ALL thanks and praise to God for continuing to bless him and those around him 71
