Julie Bates, MD, has dedicated her life to providing exceptional medical care to children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Guided by her father’s example and witnessing the impact doctors can have on the lives of others, she attended the prestigious Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. From there she went on to complete the SUNY Stony Brook Fifth Pathway Program, specializing in Internal Medicine.
Recognized as Resident of the Year at Nassau University Medical Center, Dr. Bates began her career at AHRC Nassau in 1989, serving as the medical director for the newly opened Helen Kaplan Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). In 1994, she became the medical director for the Article 16 Clinics located in Freeport and Plainview. During this time, Dr. Bates was an attending physician and member of the quality improvement committee at Northwell Plainview, while also working in private practice.
In 2004, Dr. Bates embraced a new chapter in her professional journey by accepting the full-time position of Medical Director and Primary Care Physician at the all-new Advantage Care Diagnostic and Treatment Center located on AHRC Nassau’s Brookville campus. Since then, Advantage Care Health Centers has emerged as an award-winning Federally Qualified Health Center. Today, Advantage Care supports the health of nearly 2400 patents through 32,0000 visits annually. Dr. Bates attributes this success to the remarkable team of caring professionals she is fortunate to work with.
With exceptional dedication and a genuine love for her work, Dr. Bates continues to welcome new patients. Her commitment to compassionate healthcare and her ability to connect make her a trusted and relied upon professional by her patients, their families, staff members and the greater community.
