Adam Gebb
Adam Gebb is a dedicated conservation strategist and environmental leader focused on landscape connectivity and its importance for preserving biodiversity. As the Executive Director of the Andes Amazon Conservancy, he collaborates with Indigenous communities in Ecuador to protect vital wildlife migration corridors that stretch between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon rainforest. With over 30 years of experience in wildlands conservation, he has led numerous studies on wildlife migration and developed innovative strategies to protect ecosystems while benefiting local communities. Originally from New York City, Adam earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in International Marketing from Northeastern University in Boston. However, his passion for environmental conservation led him to shift his career path. In 1989, he began studying ethno-ecology and tropical ecology at San Francisco State University, which took him to Northern Thailand. He gained firsthand experience with tropical ecosystems and witnessed the strong connection between Indigenous peoples and their land. During his time in Thailand, Adam observed the gap between government-led conservation efforts and the needs of local communities. This experience profoundly influenced his conservation philosophy, leading him to believe that effective and lasting solutions could only be achieved by working alongside the Indigenous people who have traditionally managed these landscapes. Since then, he has focused on creating collaborative conservation strategies that integrate traditional knowledge with modern science to address ecological and social needs.
