It also traces the indomitable spirit of a man brought to the United States as an eleven-year-old Jewish refugee fleeing the Nazis, fueling a lifelong passion and advocacy for social justice. Treasured photographs and artifacts from Graham’s early life and career will be on loan from the Graham family. An installation of “The Joshua Light Show”- the trailblazing liquid light show conceived in 1967 by multimedia artist Joshua White, which served as a backdrop to many Graham-produced shows - will be customized by White specifically for the exhibition. It will be one of several gallery components designed to evoke the sights and sounds of the era. thru May 5. THE SAM AND INGE LEWKOWITZ COLLECTION. Sam Lewkowitz and Inge London were forced to the edges of society by the Nazis during World War II. Sam was forced to flee Germany to Shanghai, China. Inge was trapped in Berlin during the war and was constantly under the eyes of the Nazi regime. After the war they met in the United States and married, beginning a new phase of their lives. Inge saved her Star of David patch, important documents, and a number of pre-war family photographs. Mindy and Judith donated all of these objects to The FHM and are on display. The Florida Railroad Museum was founded in 1982, and many train cars, cabooses, an ex-fruit growers express refrigerated car, a stainless steel baggage car plus others were donated, purchased and traded. Since then, they have received a former Pennsylvania RR sleeper, the “Bradenton,” two retired cars which were purchased from Ringling Brothers Circus, the ”Short Leaf Pine” and a 89-foot flatcar which they converted into an open-air car. The FRRM sponsors A Day Out with Thomas, the Little Engine That Could; A Month of Steam; the Easter Bunny Special; the Pumpkin Patch Express at Halloween; the North Pole Express during the Christmas season; annual Veterans Day Von Kessinger’s Express, a (WWII special event); North/South Days; and Hole in the Head Gang, a train robbery event.
