VETERAN WRITER J.R. REYNOLDS OFFERS “SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES”
bin“Few things in the natural world are ‘either/or,’ said Reynolds. “All of existence—from people on Earth to stars in the cosmos—tends to fall along a spectrum. My essays seek to reflect a spectrum of human experience, challenging readers to see beyond simplistic categorizations.”
the tremendous toll that white folks and people of color experience doing this work; investigations into cultural practices that contribute to (or work against) racial understanding; inquiries as to the systemic nature of race and oppression and its connection to individuals; and approaches for consciously navigating race with an eye toward liberation.
the release of his debut book, Something Bigger Than Ourselves: Essays on the Complexities of Race in America.
Reynolds (2Sigma79) is an Omega Life member and current member of Upsilon Pi graduate chapter in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In addition to chapter work, he serves on the Tenth District Omega Fatherhood & Mentoring committee.
The book’s collection of short stories and critical perspectives invites readers to explore the multilayered nature of race in contemporary society. Reynolds does this using a lens of personal reflection, humor, irony, and sometimes rage. Something Bigger Than Ourselves is available online at most retail outlets that sell books, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Walmart and Target.
His work targets those who try to hold an open-minded, more nuanced view of race during a time when most lean toward ary perspectives.
Something Bigger Than Ourselves refrains from drowning readers in statistics. Instead, it provides critical analysis and narratives that invite introspection and conversation. “There are plenty of facts and figures available in libraries and online,” Reynolds said. “What the book offers are personal insights and reflections aimed at trying to understand why things are the way they are. My engagement in race work stems from a belief in a more unified tomorrow for everyone.”
Each essay works to keep human beings (warts and all) centered, asking the reader to compassionately consider all sides. While it’s true that individual actions (and inactions) contribute to the experiences of race, Reynolds said it’s also true that the institutions and systems of which individuals are a part also play an equal, if not greater role. “This ‘both/and’ condition is one of the things that make race so difficult a subject to tackle,” he said. Some of the topics include the author’s own racial biases, blunders and takeaways; personal takes on racial oppression and its effects on people;

BROTHERLY LOVE: NU OMEGA CHAPTER SUPPORTS NU SIGMA’S STUDENT VOTER REGISTRATION EVENT
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity – especially when it comes to the steadfast dedication to our twelve-mandated programs that includes voter registration, education and mobilizations.
As the dogdays of summer wains, and the first week of September ushers in the final summer holiday – Labor Day, it is also back-to-school time. For most college students the return to campus means moving back into an apartment or dormitory, visits to the bookstore, finding classes, attending the back-to-school jams, and connecting with friends. However, for one group of friends, the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Nu Sigma Chapter at Wayne State University – located in Detroit’s Cultural District, they had something else on their minds – the planning for a major on campus voter registration, education and mobilization event.
As the Nu Sigma brothers prepared for their event held on September 5, 2024, they were unaware the graduate brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Nu Omega Chapter “the Oasis” had taken notice of their event in social media. Wanting to help with high aspirations and enthusiasm, Bro. David E. Rudolph (7-23-NQ) who’s industry is public and media relations took the initiative of contacting several broadcast media outlets regarding the prospect of conducting and interview/ story opportunity featuring Bro. Basileus Chidiebere Anaele (6-23Nu Sigma) of Nu Sigma Chapter. With a little luck and perseverance Bro. Rudolph was able to secure a live, in-studio interview opportunity with FOX 2 News Detroit for Nu Sigma to talk about their event and encourage first-time and eligible students regarding the importance getting registered and voting in the November presidential election.
“Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. has always been at the forefront at dealing with problems in America. Our voter registration event was open to all students and residents of Detroit who would be 18 years of age by election day,” said Bro. Basileus Anaele, of Nu Sigma Chapter.
“This election is going to mean a lot to a lot of people this year. The young vote is important. In the last presidential election, President Joe Biden won the state of Michigan by a little over 200,000 votes. The message I want to convey to fellow students is no matter how you vote, voting matter. If you want to be heard and have a say in our Democracy, don’t sit on the sidelines and watch. The future is in our hands and the only way to make a difference is by participating in the decision-making process which starts with registering to vote. Then we need everyone to exercise their right by voting on election day,” Anaele added.

The brothers of Sigma Chapter

The brothers of Nu Sigma Chapter attracted more than 15 students and visitors on campus who registered to vote for the upcoming election.
“Voter registration, education and mobilization is noble project. It was an honor to help my brothers at Nu Sigma advance their message regarding their voter registration event. Friendship is essential to the soul and showing oneself to be friendly is a noble endeavor.

LARGETS DISTRICT CONVENTION IN TENTH DISTRICT HISTORY

Brother Angelo Youghbor, the 87th District Marshal, and the Nu Mu Nu chapter proudly hosted the 87th Talented Tenth District Conference from April 25-28, 2024, at the Sheraton at Keystone Crossing Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. This conference marked a historic moment for the district, with over 800 registered brothers in attendance, making it the largest in-person gathering in the District’s history.
Nu Mu Nu, founded on November 1, 2016, by eight dedicated brothers, achieved a significant milestone by being selected to host this prestigious event just seven and a half years after its chartering. The selection was made by District Representative Brother Sean Long, highlighting the chapter’s rapid growth and strong leadership.
The conference opened with a public ceremony attended by notable Indianapolis politicians, including recorded messages from Mayor Joe Hogsett and Congressman André Carson. This event set the tone for the weekend, underscoring the conference’s theme, “Be The Change,” led by Brother Sean Long and Brother Angelo Youghbor.
In addition to the formal sessions, the conference emphasized community engagement. Brothers of the Talented Tenth District took part in several impactful service projects throughout Indianapolis. These initiatives included food donations to the Wheeler Mission in downtown Indianapolis, a Youth Leadership Conference, a STEM project, and a Health Initiatives event featuring the 10th District Charles Drew Blood Drive, in partnership with the American Red Cross.
Hospitality was another highlight of the weekend. Nu Mu Nu ensured a warm and engaging experience for the brothers who traveled from Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota,

and Michigan. The weekend’s entertainment included a concert by October London, a Cigar Social at Cosmos, a Bourbon Street Crawl, and the highly anticipated Marchdown. The grand finale was the Nu Mu Nu Pardi Gras, featuring local favorite, Toy Factory, which provided a lively conclusion to the event.
The success of the 87th Talented Tenth District Conference not only demonstrated the exceptional organizational efforts of the Nu Mu Nu chapter but also underscored the District’s commitment to service, leadership, and brotherhood. The weekend’s theme, “Be The Change,” served as a powerful reminder of the collective mission to make a positive impact within both the fraternity and the broader community.

Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity partnered with Lawrence North High School to conduct STEM-based workshops in collaboration with local companies. The program aimed to inspire and engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, offering hands-on experiences and real-world applications. Professionals from local businesses participated, providing mentorship and guidance, while fraternity members helped facilitate the workshops. This initiative not only fostered students’ interest in STEM careers but also strengthened the bond between the fraternity, the school, and the business community, emphasizing the importance of education and mentorship in shaping future leaders.

84TH GRAND CONCLAVE: CONCLAVE WITH A PURPOSE
The 84th Grand Conclave of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was held in Tampa, Florida, from June 28 to July 2, bringing together brothers from across the nation for a weekend of leadership, service, and fellowship. The event was marked by a series of impactful discussions, workshops, and celebrations of the fraternity’s ongoing commitment community upliftment.
A key focus of the Conclave was the implementation of the fraternity’s Six-Point Plan for Social Action led by our very own, Immediate Past District Representative, Bro. Deek Ivory. This comprehensive strategy aims to address critical issues affecting African American communities, including voter suppression, economic disparities, health inequities, police reform, education, and environmental justice. The fraternity’s leadership emphasized the importance of active engagement and advocacy in these areas, urging members to continue their roles as leaders of positive social change.
One of the most significant moments of the Conclave was the Silent March, a powerful demonstration of the fraternity’s dedication to justice and equality. Led by prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who served as the keynote speaker, the Silent March brought attention to the ongoing fight against police brutality and systemic racism. Attorney Crump delivered a compelling speech, urging the brothers of Omega Psi Phi to continue their advocacy for racial justice and to honor the legacy of those who have lost their lives to police violence.
The 84th Grand Conclave served as a reminder of Omega Psi Phi’s historic commitment to social action, with the Silent March and the Six-Point Plan underscoring the fraternity’s unwavering dedication to justice, equality, and community empowerment.
This summer’s special edition of the Oracle highlights the entire Conclave experience.

EMPOWERING FUTURE INNOVATORS: OMEGA COMMITMENT TO STEM EDUCATION

On June 15th, the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi’s Gamma Gamma Gamma chapter in Madison actively demonstrated their commitment to community service and education, participating in both the annual Juneteenth parade and Project Pipeline, an architecture camp hosted by the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).
Bro. Rafeeq Asad, President of WiscoNOMA and Vice President of JLA Architects, led the camp, joined by several brothers who volunteered their time to further the fraternity’s Omega STEM initiative. The camp introduced young students to architecture, aligning with Omega Psi Phi’s mission to inspire youth to pursue STEM careers, particularly in fields where minority representation is still growing.
The fraternity’s Omega STEM initiative is pivotal in equipping the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in STEM fields such as technology, engineering, robotics, and architecture. By participating in programs like Project Pipeline, Omega Psi Phi creates opportunities for young minds to explore these technical fields, fostering both academic growth and interest in careers that will shape the future.
The event exemplified Omega Psi Phi’s broader mission: using education and mentorship to uplift and inspire. Beyond the camp, the brothers’ involvement in the Juneteenth parade further reinforced their commitment to the community, celebrating the importance of cultural heritage while continuing to serve as role models. By engaging with the community at both events, the brothers of Omega Psi Phi showcased how fraternity values, such as leadership and service, can create meaningful, lasting change.
Through Omega STEM and initiatives like Project Pipeline, the fraternity is not only supporting individual students but also working to ensure that young people have access to the knowledge and experiences that will open doors to future STEM careers. The Gamma Gamma Gamma chapter’s active involvement serves as a testament to the fraternity’s dedication to enriching both the lives of youth and the community as a whole.

ZETA PHI
BROTHERS HELPING BROTHERS - BRIDGING THE DIVIDE TO SERVE A FRIEND

During a Zeta Phi chapter meeting, the eldest brother of our chapter, Charles Price (Psi Psi 1952), now 91, asked a few brothers to help him organize and clean portions of his home and storage shed. Of course, the brothers were eager to jump in and support his request. As the chapter assembled a team of volunteers, Basileus Dr. Gabriel B. Tait had the vision to create a special committee, comprised of five members, that could address similar needs from mature members of the chapter. Dr. Tait named the committee “Brothers Helping Brothers”. This vision came from the biblical question “Am I my brother’s keeper”? For Tait, the answer was emphatically yes!
After developing a community partnership with the local Home Depot, the committee sent a nomination form to the chapter to learn more about the needs of the brothers. The needs included everything from garage cleaning, shoveling snow, yard work, interior/exterior painting, and food shopping. The nominated brothers then worked with the committee to build a

service schedule. The mandate for Zeta Phi chapter and the Brothers Helping Brothers committee is to serve and affirm at least one brother per month with service.
Our first brother Glenn Sandifer (Rho Sigma 75) was nominated by committee member Gerald Patterson (Rho Theta 70). Sandifer had cancer surgery in 2023 and continues to fight today. He needed assistance cleaning shrubs

and blowing and bagging leaves. He also needed a mailbox replaced. Approximately 15 brothers came out to complete these tasks. When the work was complete, Sandifer said, “The brothers showed love in ways that touched my family.” Sandifer’s son Glenn Sandifer II, (Zeta Phi 2014) called Basileus Tait to express his appreciation. “The brothers brought tears to my Dad,” Sandifer Jr. shared. “The thoughtfulness of the chapter to come and serve another brother is awesome,” he continued. Brother Price was next on the list! A slew of volunteers showed up to clean leaves, trim trees, and beautify
exterior of Brother Price’s home. They braved the cool temperatures to warm the heart of a dear brother. Brother Price said, “You brothers have really outdone yourselves! Thank you for caring for an old man!”

Recently, the committee served at Brother Michael Falker’s (Upsilon Beta 76) home. Falker suffered a medical condition nearly six months ago that has slowed him down. The committee was eager to serve a brother who has been a pillar in the Indianapolis community. This was the largest project the committee has taken on. Examining the work the brothers completed, Falker said, “The men of Zeta Phi chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity Inc. did an outstanding and commendable job.”
As we look toward our Centennial year, we look to continuing this service of Brothers Helping Brothers. The next time you visit Indianapolis, you too can join us in helping another brother.

INFAMOUS AK2 TURNS 30
To paraphrase the great poet Maya Angelou, “You don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.” Fortunately, The Infamous AK2 is firmly grounded in legendary historical perspective as evidenced by reverence for the 25 Omega Men who founded the best chapter in the greatest fraternity in the universe.
On Friday, July 26, 2024, we gathered at Batter & Berries located in Olympia Fields and owned by one of our illustrious founders, Bro. Craig Richardson and his lovely wife. The next day historic Froebel Park turned royal purple and old gold as seven of our founders joined dozens of Bruhz, Greeks, and community members to celebrate 30 years of fraternal love and dedication to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
A 30th Anniversary is poetically known as Pearl and the special Founders Edition of THE WATCHWORD, our chapter newsletter, pays homage to: Dr. Vernon G. Smith, Rev. Dwight E. Pointer, Craig Richardson, William Selmer, Jimmy Dix III, Derrick Puckett, Sr., Anthony Cooper, William Clyde Jones, Robert Lewis, Fred Williams, Ken Williams, Lee Moss, Larry Parker, Harold Puckett, Brian Woodberry, Vincent Goodes, Eric Crossley, Eugene Murray, John Darden, Calvin Chandler II, Earl Puckett, Dwayne Williams, Dwight Williams, Jerry Wheeler, Chris Blanford, William Fontleroy, Kenneth Nance, Keith Dix, Gerald Howell.
Without a doubt the hardest working Omega Man in the Frat is one of our illustrious founders, Dr. Vernon G. Smith. Seldom a day goes by when he doesn’t appear on the front page of the Post-Tribune or The Times pushing important legislation, advocating for

children, the community, the less fortunate. When he isn’t educating teachers, principals, superintendents and school administrators, Bro. Smith is feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, sheltering the homeless.
In addition to running his own business, Beautiful Things located at 4335 Broadway in Gary, Indiana, Bro. Smith still somehow finds time for Omega business. His latest charge is planning our 30th Anniversary Scholarship Banquet which takes place on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center.
“The goal is to honor our 25 Founders, remember the Brothers we’ve lost, award scholarships, and raise money.” said Smith. “If our guests and corporate sponsors have a good time dining and dancing, that’s icing on the cake.”
Alpha Kappa Kappa already has a rich history. Hopefully this banquet will add to that legacy and become an annual event. Omega Men, especially those from The Talented Tenth District, are cordially invited to participate. FIETTS!

PI PSI CHAPTER TO CELEBRATE 95TH ANNIVERSARY
In celebration of the 95th anniversary of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Pi Psi Chapter on the campus of the University of Illinois, the Friends of 1929, Alumni Foundation invites Omegas and supporters everywhere to join in commemorating the occasion with events in Chicago, Orland Park and Champaign, Illinois on October 24-26 2024.
The lineup of 95th Anniversary activities includes a Fellowship Night on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. at Blaq’s Lounge, 7628 S. Cottage Grove Ave Chicago, IL 60619.
On Friday, October 25, 2024, a Gala Anniversary Banquet will be held at Georgio’s Banquets, 8800 W. 159th St, Orland Park, IL 60462 from 6 p.m. until 12 a.m.
The weekend will conclude in Champaign, IL with a Community Thank You Day Event on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from Noon until 4 p.m. at Church of the Living God, 312 E. Bradley St., Champaign, IL 61820.
Chartered on October 29, 1929, a day commonly known as “Black Tuesday” due to the infamous stock market crash, Pi Psi Chapter has historically been a light, representing hope for members of Omega Psi Phi on the University of Illinois campus.
Members over the years have included pioneering Hollywood set designer and Illinois architecture graduate the late Ralph Vaughn (Illinois Class of 1929), former basketball great the late Bill Burwell (class of 1963), former Chief Diversity Officer of the Democratic National Committee the late Greg Hinton (Illinois class of 1973), Biologist the late Dr. Steven Blasingame (Illinois Class of 1989), Illinois Football greats including Kevin Hardy (Illinois Class of 1994) and State Rep Kam Buckner (Illinois Class of 2005) and many more.
Among the most noteworthy initiates of Omega’s Pi Psi Chapter was a young Jesse Louis Jackson, who enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a 17-year-old freshman football standout from Greenville, South Carolina. Like other Black students denied access to fair housing at the University for nearly a century that preceded him, Jackson’s housing options were restricted and included living with Black families on the North End of Champaign
that provided critical social, emotional, and cultural support in addition to shelter for students over the years.
Given the limited realities of space and demand, it was fairly common for Black students to seek longer term housing options on Black Greek row, an option where a young Jesse Jackson found a home with the Pi Psi Chapter Ques, initiated in the Spring of 1960.
To honor Jackson and the many others denied fair housing at the University, along with the welcoming families and institutions in Champaign-Urbana, the Friends of 1929 Alumni Foundation is creating the Hope Scholarship Initiative, an endowed scholarship fund to support housing insecure students on the UIUC campus. Excess proceeds from the 95th Anniversary events will help seed the fund.

SHINING ON IN OUR GOLDEN YEAR
50 YEARS OF SERVICE FOR NU PI
As if serving and being a part of this great fraternity wasn’t enough reward for the brothers of Nu Pi Chapter! Seeing the chapter turn 50 and move into its Golden Anniversary makes it so much sweeter for those that entered the fold through her doors. 50 years is no small feat for anyone or anything. And Nu Pi Chapter has been a trailblazer in the southwest suburbs and Chicagoland areas ever since.
In 1973, shortly after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Omega men living and working in the Joliet Area bound themselves together and saw the need for Omega’s presence and service in Joliet, IL and petitioned the fraternity to charter a graduate chapter. These forward-thinking Omega men were Julian BrownIota 34, James Robertson-Rho Psi 61, Melvin Walker-Tau Psi 63, Harold Reeder-Pi Sigma 65, Johnnie GreenwoodEta 67, Sam Epps- Mu Omicron 68, Floyd Eskridge Jr-Rho Psi 68, Cornell Williams-Eta 68, Willie Lewis Jr.-Rho Epsilon 69, William Lucky-Epsilon Beta 69, Henry Brown-Iota 69, Tillman Rosemon-Eta 69, Arnold Mitchell-Epsilon Psi 70.
On March 9, 1974, a ceremony was conducted by Marion Garnett, Grand Basileus and Burnell Coulon, 10th District Representative officially chartering Nu Pi Chapter and making it the first African American organization to charter in the Southwest suburbs of Illinois. In 1975, Nu Pi initiated its first line and established Pi Eta Chapter on the campus of Lewis University. It is this rich history the brothers of Nu Pi stand upon which continue the give us the drive to exceed goals and be the change in the communities we serve.
Nu Pi is scheduled to celebrate our 50th Anniversary Friday October 11, 2024, at 6:00pm at the Ravisloe Country Club 18231 Park Ave, Homewood, IL 60430. All are welcomed to celebrate and fellowship. Tickets can be purchased at JCCL presents Nu Pi’s 50th Anniversary

In this 50th Year celebratory period we began April on a high note. Our fundraising committee raised over $12,000 to aid with our scholarship efforts. We attended the 87th 10th District Convention with a chapter personal best of 21 brothers attending in-person. Our Talent Hunt entrant placed 5th overall in the District Level Competition. Bro. Jerome NesbaryPB, who serves as the 10th District History and Archive chair, presented an insightful and historical piece at the Golden Bridge Builders Breakfast. Bro. Demarco Hughes (Nu Pi 2020) inducted into the inaugural class of the Omega LEAD program. Nu Pi was ranked in the top 5 largest chapters of the district for a 2nd year in a row, ranking 4th largest chapter with 100 active members on the roster.
June 1, 2024, Nu Pi along with our partner organization, Imani Pearls and the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc celebrated the 10th anniversary of Bowties and Stilettoes. For 10 years this signature event has led the way with themed fundraisers in Chicago. The brothers of Nu Pi were dapper as always and the women of the

Imani Pearls Foundation showed up and showed out. The energy was high and classy. And need less to say those in attendance understood the assignment, they partied with a purpose and looked good doing it. With their help, our organizations were able to raise over $100,000 to support our various charitable efforts and non-profit organizations. On June 15, 2024, Nu Pi answered the call of the 38th District Representative, Sean Long to assist

with the 1st Annual Father’s Day Cookowt. Along with several other Chicagoland chapters from the 10th District, we provided an event for the fathers and father figures in the city. Local fathers and patrons were provided food and beverages and a safe place to celebrate. June 17, 2024, Nu Pi held its annual Dr. Charles Kennedy and Floyd Eskridge Jr. Scholarship to a noteworthy 14 recipients at the Flossmoor Library. We were able to distribute $12,000 in awards to students going into their freshman year of college.

June 26-July 2, 2024, Nu Pi attended the 84th Grand Conclave where Nu Pi’s charter member, Willie Lewis Jr (Epsilon Rho 69) received his 55 Year service pin along with Bros. Sidney Pennix and Carl Mayes (Nu Pi 1999)
who received their 25 Year service pins. July 25, 2024, Nu Pi in partnership with Loretto Hospital and Versiti Blood Center of Illinois hosted our annual blood drive and health screening. This would be our second blood drive of the year. We managed to exceed our target goal donations. Ultimately our donations will make a difference in over 40 lives soon.
8/3/2024, Nu Pi held its annual chapter cookout. We were blessed with beautiful weather and wonderful time was had by everyone. It is always a pleasure to give back to those that support our efforts and fellowship with our family and friends. 8/10/2024, Nu Pi will collaborate with IMentor Chicago to develop a rock-solid mentoring program for Chicago Tech High School where brothers from the chapter are currently mentoring some of the young men from the school. 8/18/2024, Nu Pi hosted its 3rd Annual Groove Qruise. With nearly 300 “Qruisers” aboard and 3 decks of entertainment at their disposal combined with clear skies and calm waters provided for a great event and another successful endeavor to aid our charitable and scholarship efforts.

8/31/2024, Nu Pi finished the month of August strong. We were called upon by the Recovery Bound Men’s home in Phoenix/Harvey, IL to provide new and slightly worn clothing for the residents. Most importantly we were asked to provide fellowship and uplift to the residents. The brothers spoke with the residents, table games and manned the grill to give the resident cooks a muchneeded break to enjoy the high spirits of the day We look forward to continuing relationship with this program. RHO GAMMA GAMMA
RHO GAMMA GAMMA AND 10TH DISTRICT HOSTS GRAND BASILEUS DURING DNC

The City of Chicago was proud to welcome the 2024 Democratic National Convention to our great city. Thousands of visitors from all across the United States came together in Chicago to nominate Vice President Kamala Harris to run for the Office of President of the United States. One of those visitors was our own 42nd Grand Basileus of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Ricky L. Lewis. As our Grand Basileus was going to be in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, Rho Gamma Gamma Chapter along with the Talented Tenth District Chicagoland Chapters and our 10th District Representative Sean T. Long welcomed and hosted our 42nd Grand Basileus Ricky L. Lewis to an evening of Brotherhood. Brothers from Rho Gamma Gamma as well as Brothers from all over the Chicagoland Area and Northwest Indiana came to celebrate Brother Grand. The welcoming event was hosted at the Rho Gamma Gamma Facility in Chicago, where Brothers fellowshipped and celebrated.
Brothers old and new had conversations and photo opportunities with Brother Grand. In his true enthusiastic manner, the Grand Basileus addressed the Brotherhood by thanking the Chicagoland Ques for the great hospitality and for all the work we do to make Omega Psi Phi Fraternity the greatest Fraternity in the world. As Rho Gamma Gamma Basileus Keith Spence stated, “Not only we celebrate our 42nd Grand Basileus Ricky L. Lewis for coming to Chicago and finding time in his busy schedule during the Democratic National Convention to come fellowship with the Chicagoland Ques, but we also celebrate history as Kamala will be the first Black woman to claim a major party nomination to run for the Office of President of the United States.” As we know, Vice President Kamala Harris made a virtual video to address the Brotherhood at our 84th Grand Conclave in Tampa, Florida,

THETA NU
THETA NU CHAPTER FOOD PANTRY SUPPORT PROGRAM
In March 2024, Theta Nu Chapter donated canned goods and other non-perishable food items to the Mission for Area People (MAP) in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Theta Nu Chapter chose to support MAP, a nonprofit, faith-based agency dedicated since 1967 to serving the poor and underserved residents of Muskegon County. Some of their programs include; a Healthy Choice Food Pantry, a Free Clothing Pantry, rent and utility assistance, and financial support for essential medical and dental needs. MAP has provided services with dignity while giving a “hand up” versus a “hand out.”
As Omega Men, the members of Theta Nu Chapter believe in living the mantra of “Lifting As We Climb”. The chapter looks forward to future opportunities to partner with MAP, as the agency offers help to neighbors in need; the low-income, unemployed, homeless, and lower-income working people of Muskegon County who have an emergency need.
The members of Theta Nu Chapter are grateful for the community support received to continue with this worthwhile endeavor. As Omega Men, the brothers of Theta Nu Chapter continue to strive to be of service and provide uplift to the Muskegon County community. Theta Nu Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, was chartered in Muskegon Heights, Michigan on December 20, 1969.

TAU MU NU
TRUE BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM (BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM AND ARTIFACTS)
During the 84th Grand Conclave, (A Conclave with a Purpose), brothers of Tau Mu Nu Chapter fulfilled the mission of the conclave by displaying service to The True Black History Museum. Tau Mu Nu Charter member, Fred J. Saffold III (Phi Zeta ’89) is the founder and current CEO of the True Black History Museum. The True Black History Museum is an extraordinary collection of rare and authentic artifacts, dating from the 16th century to the present.
The True Black History Museum highlights the importance of understanding how history shapes the current landscape of Black Americans today. Tau Mu Nu brothers facilitated tours, preserved artifacts and served as Bridge Builders by helping community members and brothers from across the country experience the impact of the exhibit. Macomb County Michigan, the home of Tau Mu Nu, as well as the state of Florida, is often in the forefront of ensuring that Black Americans are not only part of the tragic history of this country but are leading the fight for change in our communities.
We were honored to participate in this endeavor in service to the 84th Grand Conclave.

Recognizing OAA’s commitment, Target was eager to join in the endeavor at the chapters adopted Richardson Park for the second year. The event goal is to relieve some of the financial overhead that parents face yearly by providing book bags filled with school supplies. An afternoon of great weather, food, music, games, and the smiles on the children’s faces proved the event to be successful. The “Pontiac Ques” remain steadfast in their continuous work and effort to be highly visible, active and a reliable resource in their city and service area.
