Design Concept 학원 건물에서 현대인들의 수면을 앗아가는 생물체를 주제로 한 도시 괴담은 일상적이고 흔한 우리들의 경험에 초현실성과 반직관성을 부여하여 현실과 상상의 경계를 줄타기할 수 있는 설득력 있는 작품으로 탄생을 하게 된다.실내와 실외를 관통하고 있는 생물체는 관객에게 자연스럽게 공간 외부로 이동을 할 수 이도록 유도를 하여 생물체의 존재를 인식시켜주는 내부와 그것이 우리에게 주어지는 의미를 상징하는 외부 사이에 자연스럽게 전개가 될 수 있도록 공간의 연속성을 부여해준다. 옥상 외부에 설치되어 있는 회전 목마는 생물체와 관객간의 상호 작용을 상징하는 공간으로, 부식되고 부패되어 있는 회전 목마는 혈기왕성하고 활기 넘치는 우리의 동심과 대비되는 현재 우리들의 모습을 표현한다. 도시 풍경 속에서 삐걱 대면서 돌고 있는 회전 목마는 현대인의 내면을 투영한 기념비이자 도시 괴담의 완성이다. An urban mythology based on the notion of a metropolitan creature that consumes the sleep of the modern person is given life in the form of an installation art piece that provides surrealness and counter-intuitiveness to a common, everyday experience, walking the fine line between the boundaries of reality and imagination. The creature permeates through the interior and exterior of the rooftop, providing a natural transition of space between the introduction of the creature to the audience and what it seemingly signifies. The merry-goround situated on the outdoors of the building symbolizes the interaction that the urban myth has with us. The corrosion and decay of the amusement park ride that is deeply linked to our childhood is a juxtaposition of our current form in contrast with the energetic and exuberant child that we all were. The merrygo-round continues to revolve slowly, creaking and moaning; a reflection of modern society and a fitting ending to this urban ghost story.
