In Samuel Beckett’s iconic play Waiting for Godot, two homeless characters spend their days wandering the countryside, waiting for a man who never shows up. A closer look at the start of the Ukraine negotiations provides some insight into this. In much the same way, the United States has been instrumental in launching the global war on marijuana. From the actions and statements of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, it’s clear that none of them is eager to continue this war. Meanwhile, Europe’s approach remains inconsistent, marked by both progress and setbacks, even within the same country. Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to establish a unified European market that facilitates the free movement of goods. This would position Europe as a major player in the regulation of marijuana, instead of ceding this space to drug traffickers and foreign corporations.
