The City of Atlanta prepares once again to welcome numerous attendees to the 26th Annual Atlanta Black Gay Pride Celebration, the world’s 2nd largest black pride event celebrating activism, inclusion and excellence in the city’s lgbtq movement. The host organization, Atlanta Black Pride, Inc. along with veteran event producers, non-profits and nightlife promoters will bring another round of Empowering seminars and Entertainment experiences in various locations across Metro Atlanta.

Atlanta Black Pride, Inc. (ABP), the official host company birthed out of the founding organization, In The Life Atlanta (est. 1996), will present the best in Workshops, Seminars & Community Events such as their signatures, SpeakFire, Annual Fashion Show, Film Festival, Literary Café and the Annual LGBT Greek Weekend (in partnership with Real Bois Talk). Events will climax at Central Park in Midtown Atlanta (located on the corner of North Avenue and Central Park Place Dr.) They kicked off the week with their annual Multi-Faith Celebration Service on Tuesday, August 30th at the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta (an event to honor legends in Atlanta’s black gay culture who have passed on).

The NEWEST Addition to ABP’s itinerary is the premiere of the 1st LGBT Food & Wine Festival, an official signature event of Ebanman Media & Monarch International. This event shines an international spotlight on the diversity of Black LGBTQ (influence or community) in food, wine, and the spirits industry. This year’s Atlanta Black Gay Pride Celebration marks the 10th Anniversary of the Pure Heat Community Festival, known as the Signature Climax Event of Black Pride weekend by History of Black Gay Atlanta, This legendary festival is held annually on Sunday and draws thousands of people of color and allies to Piedmont Park to celebrate and fellowship.

Formally known as “Pride In The Park”, this festival was an evolutionary spin-off of the former originated by the Founders of Atlanta Black Gay Pride, In The Life Atlanta along with other legendary promoters and organizations as a way to officially end the black pride weekend with a cook-out, information tables, music and fellowship.

It wasn’t until 2002 that the crowd began to grow beyond capacity and park guidelines. The organizers were required to register for a park permit in following years and the name changed to the current brand to reflect a more evolved and organized event.

The Pure Heat brand name was originally created back during the early Millennium by inaugural 2021 Hall of Famers, Traxx Atlanta (Traxx Clubs International) as their signature for the annual black pride weekend. After Traxx Atlanta folded, the female spin-off Traxx Girls, founded by renowned celebrity DJ/Promoter/Entrepreneur Melissa Scott, continued the brand and made it a national renowned staple.

Along with Co-Partners, The Vision Community Foundation (official outreach subsidiary of The Vision Church - Bishop O.C. Allen, Senior Pastor) and iconic event promoters, RockStars Production, the annual festival has featured and honored some of the best in black entertainment/activism (both LGBTQ & Straight Allies) over the years, such as Brandy, Kelly Price, The Braxtons, Monica, DaBrat and many others.

This year, Hip-Hop Icon, Reality Star and Bisexual Artist, Joseline Hernandez will be the feature highlight of the Festival, along with special guest appearances by an array of Indie Artists, community activists and other celebrity guests. It wasn’t that it was hard, but when Neil Patrick Harris shot a scene for the new Netflix series “Uncoupled,” in which his character tries to snap just the right Grindr shots, it was a little… hairy. It was “taking angles” and “making sure that you didn’t show your stuff in certain positions” that Harris says was “interesting.”

“We had to find what my ‘d actually looks like,’” said the actor, throwing up air quotes while on Zoom to promote the series. In “Uncoupled,” Harris’s Michael, a married Manhattanite, has the rug pulled out from under him when his husband of 17 years, portrayed

by Tuc Watkins (“Desperate Housewives,” “Boys in the Band”), suddenly decides to end things. Michael quickly learns that, for a single gay man in his mid-40s living in New York City, he’s a little behind the ball when it comes to contemporary queer culture. Openly gay TV rom-com mogul

But, as Michael learns, in order to get some taps, you’ve gotta show the goods on social media. Harris’s bare bottom is prominently featured during the episode, though it was the front of his body that resulted in heated discussions and debates.

“My modesty’s fine; I wasn’t that nervous about that,” he admitted. “You have this weird contraption around your actual genitals so no one can see it, but I didn’t want Netflix execs or the editors to see this, like, weird pouch thing, and the camera couldn’t see that either.” In other words, situating a penis just right is a complicated affair on set. So complicated

that, when he went to his trailer the day of the shoot and found “two flaccid rubber phalluses on my desk,” it was time to get the producers involved.

“They were like small and weird, and I think something people used to pack themselves, like drag kings, but it didn’t look very flattering and I sort of said, ‘I don’t want this! I don’t want you to take a picture of this!’”

Specifically — because who wouldn’t want every single last detail? — Harris described the phalluses as “latex, pale, single-colored thing[s].”

And if you ever wondered what it’s like to work on a set of a show in which the penis of your character is up for debate, wonder no more: “We had a nice text thread with the producers,” he recalled. “‘What about this photo if we crop it? And what about this? It was the filthiest thing of all. ‘Too big, too thick, too long.’ I was like, ‘Come on!’ But we kind of met in the middle.”

As for the new-and-improved, NPHapproved penis pics? Still on his phone, he says. Though not for long because his

two kids with Michigan-born husband David Burtka, Harper and Gideon, could possibly see them when they go through his phone. “I really do need to erase those pictures off my phone,” he said.

In other Neil Patrick Harris penis news: He had you fooled in “Gone Girl,” and contrary to popular belief, what you saw down there wasn’t the real thing.

Harris knows that, perhaps, you were misled: “I think people think they might have actually seen my dong on ‘Gone Girl,’ but that was a digital dong.’”

When I think about my future it seems so far away and everyone around me wants to mention things like prepare for retirement and such… am I being silly in thinking that I dont have to worry about this right now? Should I start preparing and begin to trade in the work that I am doing for work that will better suit a longer career and retirement?

Only you can decide how you want to proceed with retirement and such. If you think that you need to focus a bit more on the future and what it has in store for you then maybe, you need to really examine if it’s time to change careers. Otherwise, if you feel like you are in a good place then you might be able to let things go slowly and transition as opposed to giving everything up. You have to also look and see what brings you joy now a days. Things change and so do careers. If you think that the career you are currently in is still bringing you joy, then wonderful… But if not, then you need to see what you can do to spark that joy again if you plan for a long-term career.
