Fifty-nine years ago Samantha Jones was crowned the winner in the fi rst Miss Nude World Pageant. It was originally a burlesque tournament as strip clubs had not come into existence. When gentlemen’s clubs and feature entertainers became popular, the pageant fl ourished. Over the years the pageant has been held in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and right here in the United States. This year was the fi st time it was held in Tampa. The last Florida appearance was twenty years ago in Miami with the most recent pageants staged in Las Vegas, Illinois and Indiana. Over twenty showgirls made it to Deja Vu Showgirls Tampa to participate, some traveled as far away as Australia and Canada. Actually it is two pageants … holding to tradition there is Miss Burlesque World and Miss Nude World. The Burlesque pageant was held on opening night (Tuesday, November 15). There were many excellent shows including a very fi ne traditional burlesque performance in an elaborate costume by Kiva Siani. Aurora won the title performing a most amazing show wearing a harness hitched to the ceiling and fl ying across the stage! Wednesday the newcomers performed and again on Thursday for the fi nals. There was a tie between Ciara and Hannah Doll. A dance-off gave Hannah the crown. The main competition began on Wednesday with semi-fi nals on Friday and the championship round on Saturday. On Saturday each fi nalist performed two diff erent shows wearing two diff erent costumes and two diff erent stage settings. The fi nalists performed four times over the outset of the event. Due to tied scores there were seven fi nalists instead of the normal fi ve. Each show lasted about 10-12 minutes and we saw elaborate costumes, professionally programmed music, aerial acts, lots of fi re and even more confetti. There was body painting, champaign bowls and amazing pole tricks. These ladies put their all into the shows and the energy was super high. Ruby Ryder, the current Miss Nude World performed her fi nal shows as title holder and she is a true star in the business. Ella Hot Wheels also made a stage appearance …to state the obvious, yes she performs on roller skates. It was after three in the morning when Ginger Wolfe was crowned Miss Nude World 2023, with Heidi Ho Huntsman runner-up. The event was spectacular and the performances mind-blowing.
