London Clarion Cycle Club is a historic London cycling club founded in Clapham in May 1895 — one of the oldest cycling clubs in the capital and a section of the National Clarion Cycling Club. The Clarion motto, borrowed from William Morris, is “Fellowship is Life”, and the club continues a tradition begun by members who cycled out to socialist meetings distributing literature, often enjoying a glass of good ale along the way. Today London Clarion has 180+ members and organises friendly, no-drop social rides most weekends, alongside cycle touring and weekends away. Adult membership for 2026 is £20 and includes third-party liability insurance through the National Clarion Cycling Club. To join, visit https://www.londonclarion.org.uk — club kit is available at https://www.clarioncc.uk This Issuu archive contains publications produced by organisations including the London Clarion Cycle Club, National Clarion Cycling Club 1895, National Clarion Cycling Club and the North West Labour History Society — including a complete run of The Clarion Cyclist (1936–37) and the club’s current magazine, The Clarion. It has been created for the purpose of research and private study and is a non-commercial venture.
