Welcome to June where we don’t just celebrate PRIDE, we honor it Let’s be clear: without the queer community, there is no legal cannabis movement.

California didn’t just legalize weed on a whim out of nowhere, it was fought for by queer activists in the face of stigma, sickness, and political bs Dennis Peron, a gay Vietnam vet and visionary, helped pass Prop 215 after losing his partner to AIDS. Mary Jane Rathbun also known as, “Brownie Mary” handed out cannabis edibles to patients when no one else would And Harvey Milk? He wasn’t just a gay rights icon, he was a vocal supporter of medical cannabis

It’s because of their fearless, compassionate defiance that cannabis became recognized not as a vice, but as vital That legacy isn’t just history, it’s the foundation we all stand on And if you’re in the cannabis industry or a consumer or patient, you should recognize and celebrate that fact every chance you get These folks fought for everyone’s rights and put their lives and freedom on the line every damn day in the name of unapologetic love

So when we say Full Spectrum, we’re not just talking cannabinoids We’re talking about humanity Expression Inclusion All of it Cannabis is better full spectrum So is life Look at the Fat Nugs Magazine logo That gradient? That’s not just design It’s declaration A reminder that our platform is rooted in diversity, justice, and visibility Always has been Always will be

This month, we fly the flag higher not because it’s popular, but because it’s right If your cannabis culture doesn’t stand with PRIDE, it’s missing the very soul that helped legalize it in the first place

We honor our roots, we live out loud, and we blaze trails together.

It highlights the growers, patients, advocates, artists, and everyday humans who live and breathe cannabis. Through striking visuals that tell stories, the idea is to capture the soul of our community, one face at a time to feature a snapshot of authenticity, a movement, a mirror, and a love letter to those shaping the future of this space with passion, grit, and dirt under their nails.

Skye Vance

Skye is a queer brand ambassador working for IO Extracts, but her role in the cannabis industry goes far beyond that She’s a medical patient, educator, advocate, and a stoney-homie.

Skye has been consuming cannabis for about 8 years and her journey has come along way since joining the industry in back in 2021 here Arizona She started in production & manufacturing, tried out some trimming, and has been hopping around the valley & up north the past two years as a brand ambassador

“Cannabis has greatly impacted my life since the first momentit definitely started as a fun recreational venture and I quickly realized all the beautiful medicinal benefits cannabis has I now partake everyday to help combat joint & back pain from dancing for almost 15 years, and I won’t lie, it definitely helps maintain that great mood y ’all always see me in Working in the industry I get to enjoy cannabis in so many ways; professionally, recreationally, and medically!”
