I love to start off on where are you born and raised and what was it like growing up?

I was born and raised in New Jersey as the only child of an artist and an engineer. I feel very lucky to say I had a great childhood, my parents fostered both creativity and education.

What was your experience like as a female artist jumping into that tattoo industry?

It wasn’t that much of an uphill battle but I definitely had to spend years proving that I’m first and foremost an artist. Commanding that role took some navigation of different social structures.

How long have you been tattooing for and how has the journey been going for you?

I have been tattooing for over eleven years. Every time I take a step up in the industry I feel like I’m just getting started all over again. It’s really a beautiful thing to constantly be learning, it keeps the love in my job.

Your specialize in black and grey tattooing, what got you into that certain style? Did you pick it or did it pick you?

I started my apprenticeship thinking I was going to eventually specialize in color realism, which is funny to look back on because at this point I really don’t enjoy doing large color projects. I suppose in a way black and grey picked me through trial and error, but I did gravitate toward it pretty soon in because I grew up mostly working with charcoals and pencils.

You have an amazing family how do you balance work and family time? Any tips for others out?

Thank you, I do have an amazing family! It definitely took a lot of work and my husband and I lived quite far from family when we had our daughter so we felt a little stranded. It took several years to figure out a good balance. The best advice I can give from my personal experience to tattooers starting families is not to overwork yourself. We have a tendency to put our job before anything else and you have to remind yourself that family comes first.

What are some hobbies of yours that you enjoy doing outside of work?

Between working full time and taking care of things at home there isn’t much time in between but we try to carve out time to be in nature together and take trips here and there. I don’t do it as often as I’d like to but I try to paint and read when I get the chance to.

What’s the best way for our readers to book an appointment with you?

I do my best to stay accessible! Email is best but I also answer all Instagram messages, or come into the shop (I work at two so message before stopping by) there’s no wrong way to contact me. My email is alexpeatattoos@gmail.com and my Instagram handle is alexpeatattoos

The Annual Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention: Elevating Ink Culture in the Midwest.

Kansas City has long been known for its jazz, barbecue, and vibrant arts scene—but thanks to Russ and Audrey Quinn, it’s quickly becoming a national hub for elite tattoo artistry. As the dynamic duo behind The Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention, Russ and Audrey have cultivated not just an event, but an experience—one that continues to raise the bar for tattoo conventions across the country. The Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention is and always will be FOR ARTISTS BY ARTISTS!

Held in the historic Union Station Grand Hall, the 2 nd Annual 2025 Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention shattered expectations and set a new standard for excellence. With over 3,000 attendees, the convention doubled last year’s sales and cemented its reputation as the most prestigious tattoo gathering in the Midwest. As a smaller, more intimate Convention with max capacity of 115 booths, Artists never leave with empty pockets! Russ and Audrey prefer to build a reputation of QUALITY over QUANTITY, always keeping the Artist as their primary priority! As seasoned tattoo artists and respected shop owners based in Kansas City, MO, Russ and Audrey Quinn know the industry inside and out. Their combined vision brought together an extraordinary mix of U.S. and international talent, showcasing both emerging voices and industry legends.

2nd Annual Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention

This year’s event featured Special Guest Artists Jay Freestyle, Jenna Coffin, and Rowan Magennis—each known globally for their unique approach and award-winning work. These artists not only tattooed on-site but also engaged with fans and fellow artists, contributing to the event’s signature sense of connection and community. But Divine Intervention goes far beyond ink. The convention was jam-packed with entertainment, from the mesmerizing illusions of Dan Sperry to the breathtaking performances of Kansas City Aerial Arts and the fiery allure of Cervena Fox. These world-class acts helped transform Union Station into a multisensory celebration of creativity, risk-taking, and self-expression. One of the most impactful elements of the convention is its commitment to growth and education. Daily seminars provided invaluable learning opportunities for artists at every stage of their careers. Topics ranged from advanced techniques and style development to business strategy and ethics, reinforcing the Quinns’ mission: to elevate the tattoo industry from the inside out.

As Russ and Audrey reflect on this year’s success, they extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out and made it unforgettable. "We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the artists, vendors, performers, and attendees who brought their energy and passion," said Audrey. "This is a space for growth, collaboration, and pushing the limits of what tattooing can be." Mark your calendars now—The Divine Intervention Tattoo Convention returns February 27–March 1, 2026. With the momentum building and excitement already in the air, next year promises to be even bigger, bolder, and more inspired.
