Division Car wash TIFFANY BENAVIDES / QUARTZ HILL HIGH SCHOOL I had so much fun at the Division car wash! I got to meet new people from the other schools in our division. I didn’t even know how much of an impact Key Club had on other kids in our area! It was a great experience to participate in such a simple fundraiser like a car wash yet helping such a fantastic cause. Who knew it would have been that much fun? I’m excited for future events and hope to bond with even more Key Clubbers from our division!

APPLEBEE’S BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER EVA BELZIL / QUARTZ HILL HIGH SCHOOL My experience with Key Club at the Applebee’s fundraiser was awesome! I was able to work together with fellow members and serve my community at the same time while serving customers breakfast. I didn’t realize how fun it was to participate in these events while raising money for a good cause, in this case, the Pediatric Trauma Program! The fundraiser has definitely encouraged me to become more involved with Key Club in our community!

RELAY For life

ALEXANDRA JONASSEN / LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL I had an awesome time at last month’s DCM, Relay For Life! I have always wanted to participate in the replay and this was my first time. It was a lot of fun being able to walk and talk with old friends around Highland High School's track for such a good cause. It was inspiring to hear the sad, but hopeful stories of families whose lives have been changed by cancer. It encouraged me to keep serving my home, school, and community through Key Club. I hope to participate in next year’s relay! 9

RECOGNITION MEMBER OF THE MONTH

TPAA’s member of the month is Sarah Corona. She has shown dedication and leadership to her fellow key clubbers. She is kind and helpful and is always inspiring others to do great things! She has earned her rightful place and is an honor to have in the club!

officer OF THE MONTH The Officer of the Month for October is… Allie Kelly! Throughout her term, Allie has worked incredibly hard to ensure that she serves her members to the best of her ability. From attending division events to turning in all of her submissions on time—Allie’s efforts to serve her club have definitely been noticed. For both RTC and the division car wash for PTP, Allie was able to have the greatest member attendance; CAN I GET AN OH YEAH?! Make sure to congratulate Allie next time you see her! 10

PTP

Pediatric Trauma Program

WHAT IS PTP? PTP stands for the Pediatric Trauma Program. Pediatric Trauma otherwise known as unintentional injury is the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Most children die from unintentional injury than from any other diseases combined.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF PTP? The reason why we raise money for PTP is because it will benefit the children; 90% of unintentional injuries can be prevented!

WHERE DOES THE MONEY FUNDRAISED GO TOWARDS? The money raised goes towards the training of pediatric doctors, nurses, and first responders. The funds raised for this program will also help to purchase the much needed pediatric equipment.

7.00 goes to Key Club International 4.50 goes to the CNH District An extra fee can be assessed by the club

Like any organization, Key Club needs money to function at all levels. Both the District and International levels need money for their board meetings and conventions to help promote the core values in our future leaders as well as expose them to leadership opportunities from a young age. Dues also provide Key Clubbers with the opportunity to fundraise for projects such as The Eliminate Project and work with global organizations such as UNICEF.

KEY CLUBS PREFERRED CHARITIES UNICEF Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping with The Eliminate Project.

CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital.

March of Dimes For decades, Key Club has partnered with the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies. 13
