Goodbye From Your LTG Hoot, hoot! Mama Owl here! Spring is here, Key clubbers! With springtime comes AP testing, prom season, college acceptances, and, of course, a new term. This term has been full of laughs, love, and service but it’s already coming to a close. I can’t believe how quickly these past few months have flown by. For you newBEES, thank you so much for putting your whole heart into this organization and for sparking a new passion into my own. For those of you returning next year, I hope that you found a Key Club moment with us that you will continue to cherish. And for you seniors that will be be starting a new chapter in your lives, no matter where you end up, Division 38 West will continue to be a support system and a home that you can always return to. You have all amazed me, members, officers, and even advisors, with your persistent dedication and evident spirit. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of what we have become. Surpassing our goal for PTP funds raised, increasing membership, hosting the largest events in division history, and even winning the spirit stick! Together, we have surpassed all expectations and soared beyond what we once were. I truly believe that this year, we made a mark on the CNH District. Key Club has always been my escape but once I graduate, these memories will be what is keeping me grounded. Thank you for having faith in me no matter what. I will never forget this year—the best year of my life.

With Wings of Service, Aubrey Gilman

DCON 2018 Service Safari

District Convention 2018 was held in Reno, Nevada! Key Clubbers from all over the California-Nevada-Hawaii District gathered to DCON: Service Safari for 3 days! On Friday, everyone began to arrived in their best spirit gear from their flights and long car rides. That night, there were several workshops, the region session, and the first general session with a special performance by AJ Rafael!

Saturday primarily focused on more workshops to get Key Clubbers prepared for the next term and beyond. Additionally, House of Delegates was held to elect the new District Executives for the 2018-2019 term. For the second general session, all the region advisors, LTGs, and LTG-elects from all regions were introduced on stage, such as our very own. Region 5! 4

Later that night, another general session was held to distribute awards to all the clubs and officers who worked especially hard this previous term. Scholarships from our generous Kiwanis Family were also given to Key Clubbers who went above and bee-yond! Additionally, it was announced that Jonathan Lum had won the position of District Governor, Zoe Yao as the District Secretary, and Kara Yoshiyama as District Treasurer! Key Clubbers then got to dance the night away to the best hits of the 2000s at the Governor's Ball!Â

On Sunday, it was time to say goodbye to each other and the 2017-2018 Possibilibees. There were many tears shed as IP District Governor Angelica Garcia delivered one last heartfelt speech and the Lieutenant Governors stepped on the stage for the final time for retirement. Immediately following, the new board stepped on stage for their installation, officially commencing their term! With the end of the general session marked the end of DCON. DCON was one unforgettable weekend and we hope to see more Owls attend next year in Ontario, California for DCON 2019: Service in Wonderland! 5

Recognitions Member of the Month: Marissa Maldonado

Marissa Maldonado is a junior at Paraclete who consistently attends club meetings and service projects. As the club's Secretary-elect, Marissa has been very diligent about learning how to fill out the MRF, and she has also taken charge of several service project ideas, including the idea to donate prom dresses or suits to people who can't afford them. Marissa is incredibly dedicated, reliable, organized, and positive. She is always eager to serve with a smile. Paraclete is very excited to have her as an officer next term!Â

Officer of the Month: Triveni Patel

For April, Quartz Hill Key Club's Officer of the Month is Triveni Patel! Triveni is our club’s Vice President, and she has been an important part of our club since her freshman year. She is one of our few seniors that are graduating this year, so we are sad but also happy to see her move on to a new chapter of her life. She was here to make sure that the club was running smoothly and has helped us to transition into the new term. We hope she can continue her Key Club journey with Kiwanis and Circle K, and keep her passion for service alive!

DNE'S Last Closing Message Hello Owls, We have arrived at the most bittersweet moment in the term. The old term has ended and a new one has begun. Here’s what that means to me: I must say goodbye to my incredible senior friends, my beloved mama owl/someone who has been one of my biggest supporters since I was in 7th grade, this position, and the best year so far of high school. I feel so lucky to have served as your Division News Editor, a position I initially wasn’t going after. Little did I know, I’d fall in love with making these newsletters and that my passion for service would multiply by a million as I served on Division Leadership Team. I am truly sad to say goodbye to this position. Even more so, I’m devastated to be saying goodbye to some of our most passionate Key Clubbers who will graduate in a few short months. There have been so many seniors who have an enormous amount of spirit, work as hard as they can in our community, and have personally been a part of my biggest support system. Of course, the one I will miss the most is our IP Mama Owl, Aubrey Gilman. She saw potential in me and helped me gain courage to chase after my dream of being LTG, something I did not think was ever possible for me. This term has meant so much to me, for I have grown so much as a person and I've had the time of my life changing the world with you all. However, a new chapter has begun. I’m extremely excited and optimistic for this next term as Lieutenant Governor, and I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together. After one of the most amazing weekends of my life at DCON, I was so happy to return home to the community I serve and begin on my duties. It is still surreal that you trusted me with this position and I will always do my absolute best to carry out all the responsibilities that I am so blessed to have obtained. With every ounce of my heart and soul, THANK YOU for all that you have done in this term. Whether you are an officer or a member, you have all contributed in helping this organization that we all love so dearly to serve our home, school, and community. I appreciate you all so much and I cannot wait to see you in May! Again, I cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work and dedication to Key Club. Signing off for one last time (at least, as DNE), Owls.
