Message From Your LTG Hoot, hoot! Mama Owl here! Spring is here, Key clubbers! With springtime comes AP testing, prom season, college acceptances, and, of course, a new term. This term has been full of laughs, love, and service but it’s already coming to a close. I can’t believe how quickly these past few months have flown by. For you newBEES, thank you so much for putting your whole heart into this organization and for sparking a new passion into my own. For those of you returning next year, I hope that you found a Key Club moment with us that you will continue to cherish. And for you seniors that will be be starting a new chapter in your lives, no matter where you end up, Division 38 West will continue to be a support system and a home that you can always return to. You have all amazed me, members, officers, and even advisors, with your persistent dedication and evident spirit. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of what we have become. Surpassing our goal for PTP funds raised, increasing membership, hosting the largest events in division history, and even winning the spirit stick! Together, we have surpassed all expectations and soared beyond what we once were. I truly believe that this year, we made a mark on the CNH District. Key Club has always been my escape but once I graduate, these memories will be what is keeping me grounded. Thank you for having faith in me no matter what. I will never forget this year—the best year of my life.

With Wings of Service, Aubrey Gilman

Recognitions Member of the Month: Destiny Camarillo

Destiny Camarillo is a junior at Paraclete who consistently attends club meetings and service projects. This past month, she volunteered at Paraclete’s school-wide Red Cross Blood Drive, and also became the Key Club Treasurer-Elect! Destiny is very dedicated, reliable, organized, and positive. She is always eager to serve with a smile. Paraclete is very excited to have her as an officer next term!

Officer of the Month: Kylie Herrera

This month, Kylie Herrera is the officer of the month! Kylie is currently a sophomore at SOAR High School and has been an extraordinary leader. As of this moment, she serves as the youngest officer of the month as fundraiser coordinator and was just recently elected to be the 2018-2019 President! The club and the fellow officers are more than thrilled for her to be elected because we know she is going to carry on the model that caring is the way of life. This month, she has been shadowing the current president and is ready to step in. Recently, she led a Key Club meeting on her own and people really enjoyed it because she was able to bring everyone out of their shells. It is an honor to have Kylie Herrera on the board and we know that she will be an outstanding president!

Paraclete is incredibly grateful for everything Ms. Huerta does!

Spotlight on Service March Focus: March of Dimes

Originally founded by past United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, March of Dimes is dedicated to preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Through the funding and assistance from the U.S. public, March of Dimes has discovered the genetic causes of birth defects, promoted newborn screening for health concerns, and educates medical professionals about healthy pregnancy procedures.

Fundraising Ideas Mile of Dimes: Reserve your school's track and reach out to performers and food vendors for this event. Lay out a mile's length of ribbon and have attendees place dimes on top of it to raise money for March of Dimes!

Boba Sale: Order milk tea boba in bulk and sell it at a DCM or other division event. Be sure to advertise it and set up at a location that is clearly visible and has a high foot traffic to boost sales! 8

Service Project Ideas March for Babies: Visit the March of Dimes official website and find an event in your area you would like to attend. Work with the coordinators to have your members volunteer at the march. At the event, ensure that each person is on task.

"Get Well Soon!" Cards: Coordinate an event where your members can come together and make cards for patients at a local hospital. Distribute supplies and tell them to write encouraging messages for the patients.

Baby Sock Decorating: Ask your members to donate baby socks that are a solid color. Then, get together and decorate them with a creative design with fabric paint. Donate the socks to a local hospital for premature babies. Ideas by the CNH Service Projects Committee

DNE'S Closing Message Hellooooo Owls! Happy March everyone! It’s only been about two months, but it has felt much too long since we have come together as a division! Hopefully, you all have stayed active within your home clubs and have a lot to share about all the service you have done these past months! That being said, I cannot wait to see your beautiful faces at our next event, the Dance-AThon! Also, we only have ONE more month left in the 2017-2018 term! With such a short time left, be sure to cherish every last moment with your Ohana! Continue to work as hard as you have this entire year to serve your community and spread happiness amongst others. Though I am saddened that this term is about to be over and that we will have to say goodbye to our incredible seniors, I cannot help but feel an immense amount of pride and joy as I reflect back on this year. We truly have accomplished so much together and enacted a great, positive impact on our world. With one term coming to a close, another one is immediately opening and filled with endless opportunities. I cannot wait to continue to create a better community with all of you. For now, let’s make the last of this term count, make more memories together, and serve with our entire hearts! Until next month, Owls! ~ Mariah Hernandez Division News Editor and LTG Elect
