Hey there D38W owls! I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy new year and are bright eyed and ready for more service! The year flew by so quickly and I’m glad I got to meet so many of you at all of our events. The calendar year may be over but the Key Club one isn’t and we still have much more planned for you all. With the end of the year quickly approaching, I hope you all get to accomplish the goals you had set for yourselves earlier this year whether they be Key Club related or not. I can’t wait to finish this year off with a bang at the Rose Float Decoration and I hope to see lots of you there!
Just keep hooting!

Hello Division 38 West Owls! Can you BEE-lieve that this year is almost over? It seems like just yesterday that I started my term as a lieutenant governor, but it is December already and we made so much progress! Wow! Owls, take this time to pat yourselves on the back, for the impact that you have had on your homes, schools, and communities this year has been astounding! From raising money for the Pediatric Trauma Program to helping the needy through the Grace Resource service experiment, your uncontested dedication and service has helped the lives of hundreds of people. You deserved this long winter break so go out there and enjoy yourselves! I will see you and the rest of the Owls at the start of second semester! L-O-V-E I love my D-I-V!

“My favorite part of being in the parade was seeing the little kids. The thought of me inspiring them makes me feel as if I did my job. I want to spread the message of community service and giving back. I enjoyed setting an example for them and sharing our cheers with the entire community.” - Kenneth Bonifacio, SOAR High School “I had a really good time at the parade! I enjoyed seeing all of the people and they all seemed to enjoy our cheers. It was a great meeting and I loved getting to participate in an event which another high school completely planned out for our entire division.” - Jaylene Gutierrez, Lancaster High School

Palmdale Christmas Parade “The Christmas parade was interesting, what with decorating and running around trying to find the right floats. However when we finally got our jobs it turned into a really nice time. We were able to walk down with the float and everyone watching had a really nice attitude while we handed out free tickers to a local flee market and candies. Overall the parade was a really fun experience, a real hoot if you ask me.” Aroni Garcia, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy “It may have been cold and we may have been running around to the different floats as a volunteer but the spirit we had warmed up all of us. It was fun to show off the colors of Division 38 West and take an active part in our community. I can proudly say I'm an owl that's bright eyed and ready for service! -J o r g e A l o n so, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy

Beads Of Color “Bead of color is something I will definitely be planning to do again. The reason why is because of the smiles on peoples faces when they got one. I gave a little girl a bracelet and when I left her dad opened it with her. She hugged it, smiled, put it on and started dancing. Not only did it make her smile but it also made me smile knowing that I cheered someone up so much. -Emelie Quintero, High School
SOAR
“The purpose of beads of color was to create bracelets of different colors with positive messages assigned to each color. We walked around the mall and gave them out to people. The experience of being able to spread positive messages to the public was something heartwarming, and something I want to continue doing as an individual, and also help the club do so as well. - Desi Ascencio, Highland High School

December DCM/ Potluck
“Key Club is a lot of fun. This was my first DCM and I had a great time getting to know people from all over our division. My favorite part has to be making the decorations before the even started. It’s always a great time with some great people at Key Club events! - Daniel Zasusua, Lancaster High School
“Today was very fun at the December DCM. I am glad that I came to bond with my fellow Key Clubbers and have a great time! I hope to be able to come to another event of this time soon since today was such a blast. -Marlene Escobedo, land High School

Starting 2016 off Right! Give 12 Compliments: Have you ever received a random compliment that completely brightened your day? Why don’t you do the same for others? Think someone looks nice today or really like something they did? Tell them! Pay it forward, sometimes the simplest comment can brighten someone’s day!
Practice 52 Random Acts of Kindness: Go out of your way this year to do at least one random act of kindness per week. You could help someone put their groceries into their car, hand out balloons to little kids, talk to that kid who always seems to be alone at school, etc.
Give 100 Hours of Service: Find your calling, whether it be volunteering at a local animal shelter, a hospital, a food bank, a local politician’s office or anywhere else. Instead of spending your time inside of home all day doing nothing, go out there and take an active part in your community. Can’t donate 100 hours? Get as close as possible!
