“The experience of the March DCM at Paraclete High School was unforgettable. We played ice breakers and got to know the members and officers of our district that were also able to attend. On the side of games we ate and discussed what each club has been up to and hoping to accomplish. I would definitely urge other Key Clubbers to attend as many DCMs as possible. They are a blast! Keep up the good deeds, you buzzing bees!” - Amber Alden, Senior, Paraclete High School

“The March DCM at Paraclete High School was so much fun and everyone who was there definitely bonded with one another. It was Hyeveen’s first DCM as the newly elected Lieutenant Governor and he did an amazing job. We had a great talent show and best of all, everyone who attended contributed money towards the eliminate project! I hope to see more of our owl-tastic members at future DCMs! - Priscilla Barboza, Junior, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy

“On Saturday, April 11th, I had the opportunity of attending Key Club’s DCM and I must say one thing about it: It was amazing. As an active member of Key Club, attending this banquet had me reminisce about the great past year, whether it was Fall Rally, DCON, or even the individual fundraisers that we hosted. Awards were handed out, food was served, and the overall positive vibe emitted in the atmosphere really set the tone for what Key Club was all about - An Ohana providing service to each other and our community. However, not only did it make us reflect on the past year, but it set they gave us a glimpse of this very special 2015-2016 Key Club year, with the new Division Leadership team being put into place and the recognition of new Key Club Leaders!” - Parth Kurani, Quartz Hill High School

“The April DCM was definitely a night to remember. Many attended this special banquet where we celebrated our past year’s achievements. We also got to hear about what the other schools have been doing to improve their Key Club. At this event, we had some delicious food from Vince’s Pasta and Pizza and played an icebreaker to get to know each other better. Then, the former LTG, Jason, gave awards to the people who he thought deserved special recognition for their work and gave his heartfelt farewell address. The new LTG, Hyeveen, concluded the meeting after introducing the new DLT for the term 2015-2016. As we were saying goodbye, I saw that the old DLT was a very close group of people that has worked extremely hard together for the past year. I could see that they were happy, but sad that their term had ended. This event showed me that Key Club is something that is hard to be forgotten.” - Margarett Lee, Quartz Hill High School “I felt so much pride for my club this last year because we had achieved so much. This was shown at this last DCM where we got an award for increasing our membership. I also felt pride for two of my club's officers because our secretary, Mikee Loria, was a distinguished secretary, and the club president, Kelly Lee, was awarded a distinguished president award. “ - Katherine Heflin, Paraclete High School

Welcome the 2015-2016 Division Leadership Team: Lieutenant Governor: Hyeveen

Cho

Hello BEE-autiful Division 38 West Owls! My name is Hyeveen Cho and for this 20152016 administrative term, I have the immense honor of serving all of you as Lieutenant Governor. To tell you a little bit about myself, I joined Key Club in my freshmen year after I was introduced to it by one of my closest friend. I can vividly remember my first Division Council Meeting, where Lieutenant Governor Rashika introduced all of us to the “How Do You Feel?” cheer. To be quite honest with you, I felt a little embarrassed being in such an awkward environment. But I soon realized that it wasn’t awkward at all, because everyone around me was proudly doing this cheer. That was when I came to understand the true meaning of Key Club and the Ohana it represented. From that point on, I received the inspiration to go above and BEE-yond in this club, and to get myself more involved in serving my community with this awesome family. I am truly excited for this 2015-2016 term, and I hope that it would be one filled with endless service opportunities, learning moments, and most importantly, Ohana! Whether you are a member who has just experienced your Key Club moment, or an officer who has been with the Ohana, I have great expectations for each and every one of you. I know for a fact that if we work together as a Division this year, we can achieve feats never imagined before!

We will soar above and beyond the limits of service!

Lee

I was first introduced to Key Club when I was in seventh grade by my sister; therefore, when I entered high school, I was already very familiar with this club. I was excited to join Key Club, because I knew that it would help me carry on the unique experiences of serving my community. After my first Key Club service event, I went home and researched what Key Club was all about. To my surprise, I found out that this was an enormous international organization, and it took global initiatives to help people all around the world. I came to realize that this club allows us to lead by serving our home, school, and community. I cherish and admire our efforts to make a difference by helping others, making an enormous impact on people around the world. I am enthralled to be one of the busy BEEs representing D38W!

Division Secretary: Parth Kurani Hi, my name is Parth Kurani, and I am your 2015-2016 Key Club Division Secretary. 2 years ago, as a shy, timid freshman, I decided to join Key Club. As a freshman, I joined hoping that Key Club would be a viable place for me to make new friends. However, it has grown on me into something much more than just that. Key Club has not only been a place where I met new people, developed, new friendships; but it has also been a place where I have been able to serve the community I so luckily live in. It has also allowed me to serve each and every one of you BEE-utiful people not only in our division, but all of those in our Ohana. And so for that, I am delighted to represent our very own D38W!

Newsletter Editor: Priscilla Barboza Hey Owls, how do you feel?! Because I feel good oh so good having the wonderful opportunity to serve our amazing division for the 2015 -2016 term! I know that sometimes being in Key Club may not be easy, especially when your home club is not very well off, but let me assure you that it definitely is fun! I cannot wait to improve our homes, schools, and community with you all and make memories to stay along the way. *Incase you were wondering...I’m an 11th grader and I attend The Palmdale Aerospace Academy!

PTP and Project Eliminate Coordinator: Jaylene Gutierrez Hi! My name is Jaylene and this has been my first year being an owl. Through this club I have met incredible people and found it to be the most friendly and welcoming thing I have ever been a part of. One of the things that impresses me the most about key club was that everyone cheers one another on. There are no boos instead it was filled with cheering and support no matter how small the division. My goal not only in key club but life in general is to make some sort of impact and I found that making someone feel like they matter makes an enormous difference. My motivation for wanting to be part of the division leadership team is to make this same impact starting with the division. I have only been a key clubber for a year but in this year I have found another family. I came in hoping to get a few hours of service done but I ended up finding that we are so much more that that. I always hear fellow owls say we are a family and I have found that to be completely true. Along with feeling like I am not alone thanks to the other owls my favorite part of this organization is knowing that I am part of something that is making a difference somewhere in someone’s life, and if there was ever a way for me to help make an even bigger impact and aid those who also want to do the same it’s being part of this organization.
