On behalf of all the members at Albany United FC, we would like to acknowledge and THANK the following foundations for their contributions

Albany United Football Club President’s Message Rashaad VAHED We welcome everyone to Rosedale Park for what we trust will be an enjoyable day of football. A huge thank you to all the volunteers, managers, coaches, supporters, staff, sponsors and my fellow board members for all your hard work in making our club successful. This year marks the clubs 39th season and we hope to add to the clubs great history while building a sustainable club for the future. To the hard work the squad puts in every week, Thank You. You wear the club jersey and colours with pride that stands testament to many people that currently and previously put in to make our club a success and a home. Our past is important to remember so we don't’ forget who we are while creating new history. So Thank you to everyone in the club. Around the club we progressing exceptionally well in all aspects we wanted to achieve this year. Our midgets are going outstanding and enjoying the game while the cluster training is proving to be a key launch in meeting its purposes. We can now move to our plans and extending play to a wider group of clubs which we have been working on in the background and will be ready to communicate this soon across the midget sector. With grading now over, were hoping the juniors and youth will now see benefit from the coaches and dividends will now pay off in the respective leagues. Off field we still have lots we wish to do and achieve and are not pleased with the progress we are making into the plans and wish list. With not a lot of assistance on the volunteer side, the same around 15 people run the operation week in and week out which puts strain on them looking after anything else or putting time and energy into the strategic matters to make us better. Successfully though we are making small in roads to improving and improving our member experience and meeting our strategic goals nevertheless slower than we would like. For today’s main fixture we welcome neighbours Takapuna and their supporters to the ‘Dale for the NRFL fixture. A disappointing few weeks has seen us in a scrap at the bottom while our neighbours have oust everyone else and sit pretty on the top. Last weeks heart and passion was seen and felt by all, showing we are very capable. So we know we can, now its putting the consistent results on the board and bringing our all to every game. To all our other visitors across the football community, welcome to Rosedale. Best of luck to our coaching and management staff and the squad for their respective fixtures today. To all our Senior teams both home and away; U19s, Africans, Wanderers, Athletic, Humble, Red, Champs, Brewers, Colombians, North End, Watsons Heroes, Devils Rock, Redmen, Undertakers, Nortons, Originals and our Women’s team ….. do us proud. Welcome to all our opposition and supporters to Rosedale. I wish you an enjoyable day and invite you to relax in our clubrooms after.

Albany United Football Club Reserve Team Comments Albany United welcome Northland and their supporters back to ‘The Fortress’ What a start to the season for us….strange results, wiered officiating decisions, staff and players leaving, new players joining and an abundance of injuries. Over the last few weeks we have steadied the ship and results are now starting to turn and with a win last week we are starting our climb and cementing our place in the top half of the table and proving worthy contenders in the league. We fully plan to keep our winning ways going into today fixture and continue our success and form. Our squad is playing and training with great confidence despite still being quite a new squad which is great to see and partnerships are starting to form. Our aim is to replicate how we have been training over the last few weeks and come away with the right result from today’s game, a win for us. Today we take on neighbours Takapuna for the third time this year. Having drawn in the first round of the league and then playing them in the NRFL Reserves Shield, we know todays task wont be easy. Last week we took our foot off the pedal a little and were complacent for much of the match and cant do that today. 3 nil up in the Reserves Shield match against our foe’s today, and within a few minutes that lead was worn down to 3-2. Whilst we ended the match victorious 4-3, we must concentrate for the full match today. Taka are leading the table for a reason and whilst we are the only ones to take points of them, were are under no illusion on todays task. To my guys I personally ‘Thank you’ all for the efforts and hard work you are all putting in, especially with all the disruption that has been happening recently. All I can say is keep believing in yourselves and each other, keep fighting hard! I can’t wait to see all the hard work you have all put in at training finishing up with another win today, not just for us but for the ‘Red Army’. A massive thank you to ‘The Godfather’ Bill for his dedication to this team and my new supporting staff, Josh for standing in and helping at such a crucial time of the season. All the best and I’ll enjoy having a beer with you back in the clubroom. Gary HOGG Reserve Team Coach

Albany United Football Club First Team Comments It’s my pleasure today to welcome the management duo, Jenny Bindon & Joe Daw, plus all the players, officials and supporters of table-topping Takapuna AFC to Rosedale Park for yet another key NRFL Division Two clash. Takapuna are well on the way to achieving their goal of an immediate return to Division One football and currently enjoy a 5-point lead in the league over their nearest rivals (Waitemata) with just eight games remaining. Significantly they’ve also already played Waitemata twice in the league which will make it difficult for Waitemata to bridge the gap. Takapuna have scored more goals than any other team in the three NRFL divisions, and their results so far this season include a 9-0 victory over Claudelands Rovers as well as a 11-1 victory over Northland ….. therefore, it’s no surprise that Arkito Morita leads the ‘golden boot’ race on 16 goals, closely followed in 3rd place by fellow team-mate Connor Taylor on 10 goals. Our first encounter, way back in round 3, saw Takapuna secure all three points courtesy of a 3-0 home victory. On the day Takapuna fully deserved the victory but we were somewhat disappointed with ourselves and how we dropped our heads after conceding a first-half penalty (which came just mins after the match officials failed to spot the ball cross the goal-line for what should have been the lead to Albany) and gradually gave up the fight as the game progressed. I am sure all the Albany lads will be looking to make amends today and give a much better account of themselves. Last weekend in the ‘battle of the basement’ with Northland we FINALLY managed to keep a clean sheet (and the Pizza’s are on Tel)! I was very pleased with our overall performance, which was worthy of the 3-0 scoreline and helped to open up a 6-point gap between us and relegation. Three players each scored their first goal of the season, with Josh Hadfield opening the scoring in the 9th min, Scott Hendriks giving us some breathing space in the 56th min and Sam Robertson putting things beyond doubt in the 91st min with a fine solo effort. It was pleasing to see Scott score on his debut First Team start of the season, along with young Ben Semple who made a very impressive First Team debut start. With more and more players returning from injury let’s hope last weekend’s performance is something we can build upon in our next two games against the top two teams in the division. Takapuna may be flying in the league but sometimes the higher you fly the more the pressure builds to keep the run going and maintain your lead at the top, so who knows what may happen today in this ‘local derby’ game! Regardless of the final scoreline, I hope the weather gods are kind and I look forward to welcoming our guests from Takapuna back to the clubhouse for the speeches and then enjoying some post-match banter with Jenny & Joe. Best wishes to all.
