Club Bulletin 16th Sep 2014
President’s Paragraph As you all should know by now, the Langmeil Wine Bottling is set for the 25th October and while that may seem a little way off, we must have our orders in and paid for by the 24th September which is less than a week away. So make sure you let your friends know about our special drop and get those orders in asap. Just to make sure you have the order form it is on the last page of this week's bulletin.
Now for a little bit of technology news. I have mentioned recently that I have set up an account with an online magazine publishing site "Issuu" or www.issuu.com which costs nothing. The last 6 bulletins have been published on this site and instead of uploading the bulletin to our website I now simply publish on issuu and inlcude a link on our website to the bulletin. When you click on the link the bulletin pops up in a neat page flip style which is easy to read. You can still download it and print it out if you wish. Now isssu have just released a new app for iphone and ipads and they already have an Android version of the app available through Google play. It is a great little app and you can browse literally thousands of magazine publications through it. And of course you can follow our bulletin publication and access the club bulletin now directly through this app on your iPhone, iPad or An-droid based tablet. Happy viewing.
Meetings - 9th—16th Sep
A disappointing attendance at Club Assembly brought a justified reminder from President Brenley that Assemblies are important and we need to be present if possible. President Brenley reminded us of the need to order up on the wine in the coming week and distributed hard copy order forms. He drew our attention to the ‘Illuminate’ talks being available—they were sent to us by Rajni and are now available in the Herald. Our self-disclosure session brought the comment from our guest speaker that ‘Port to win’ was witty! Our guest was in fact Graham Cornes, a polished and of course fascinating speaker with all those ‘inside’ stories. He started , and finished, by emphasizing how incredibly the game has changed since he started, and how sophisticated it has become with computers clearly controlling activity right up to the scheduling of interchanges. Graham emphasized his good fortune in his football career and how footy had formed an unbroken thread in his life from his earliest years and through his share of crisis which had has faced. There were many questions and no one complained when we went over time! Did you know that Trevor A & Frank W were both Vice Presidents at the Glenelg Football Club before the Crows were formed.

Wine Order Form Rotary Club of Somerton Park Wine Bottling 2014 This year’s offerings from Langmeil Winery are a lovely 2012 Shiraz that has spent 2 years in oak and a 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. Price is $144 per dozen. Tasting notes are below: 2012 Shiraz Colour:-Medium depth crimson with pink, purple hues. Nose:- Ripe Satsuma plums and Raspberries leap out of the glass with lovely biscuit sweetness and brambly spice adding to the complexity. Palate:-Juicy plumbs and stewed Rhubarb fruit flows over the tongue with pepper and spice following closely behind. The wine is medium bodied but with loads of flavour and plenty of silky tannins to balance the sweet fruit. Quite a complex wine with hints of Black Olive and Aniseed and a long pepper and spicy finish. 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Colour:-Medium depth crimson with purple hues. Nose:-Juicy Blueberries and Black Currant dominate the aroma with hints of Licorice, Black Olive and briary spice.
