To the Ellicottville Newspaper: From Gary White—United Tour Riders of Delmarva –Vice President On August 31, members of the United Tour Riders motorcycle club made Ellicottville their home base for a week of motorcycling and exploring Western New York. The United Tour Riders (UTR) is a family oriented group of motorcyclists from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Formed in 1995, our organization promotes safe motorcycling, offers assistance to nonprofit organizations, and
encourages the wellbeing of our members. We operate with a volunteer staff of officer and an elected board of directors. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 21 who rides a motorcycle. We currently have 95 members. Each month we hold a breakfast meeting followed by a group ride to a specific location or perhaps just to explore. In addition, there are other planned rides throughout each month. When the weather turns too cold to ride, the social committee makes sure we have activities that still bring us together on a regular

basis, like a soup social and local concerts or plays. The highlight of our year is our annual September week long rally. This will be our 25th year. We have traveled to many states on the east coast—Kentucky, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. We love to explore new places, meet new people, and learn about the area. This year we have selected Western New York. We are excited to explore this area and its many interesting places, such as Allegany State Park, Seneca Iroquois Museum, Kinzua Skywalk, Chautauqua Institute, Rock City, National Comedy Center, Zoar Valley, Lake Erie Wine country, just to name a few. Each night after our daily excursions, we meet to briefly exchange thoughts of that day’s ride and get details of the next day’s upcoming ride. Our weekly visit will be capped off by a banquet at Finnerty’s Tap Room. We are enthusiastically enjoying to our visit to Ellicottville. Sincerely, Gary White

Can you believe we are into September? That means the next season is quickly approaching. Although there is still time for plenty of outdoor activities, keep in mind that Fall Festival is only a month away. Fall Festival is October 12th and 13th this year. Fall Festival is great weekend for the entire family to enjoy the various activities happening around town,
especially right here at the Valley. Bring the family up to enjoy a chairlift ride to the top of Mardi Gras, listen to live bands, eat and drink, and take in all the fabulous autumn colors that the hills have to give! Starting Thursday, there is the infamous ski swap offering great deals, along with deals at the Mountain Shop. Customer service will be open, purchase your season pass while enjoying some wine and cheese. And don’t forget the Fall Festival 5K on Saturday,

Brooks, whose company S&B Sound and Production had been contracted to provide support services for the Rally that year and in years past. Amid declining sponsorships and attendance, Rally organizers decided to cancel and regroup about a month prior to its taking place in 2018. So it became a big end of summer weekend waiting to something to do, especially musically. Brooks notes, “In about four weeks time we put together a nice little roundup” which includes a variety of area bands. “You don’t have a lot of time to plan and advertise with only four weeks, but I was very happy with the whole thing.” Brooks would like to thank Rebecca Arnold and Chris DeCerbo of Woodside, along with Casey Smith of S&B Sound for pulling together a very successful event. Brooks urges everyone to come and enjoy the thirteen musical acts scheduled to take
part, adding “We’ll be fine rain or shine.” Stage areas will be set up out back at the pavilion and inside the restaurant, but will be mostly outdoors. County Lines, Jamie Ervay Band and Counterfeit co-headline the Pavilion Stage with Brianna Blankenship and Those Guys headlining the Bar Stage. Diggin’ Roots Band, Remedy, Rockmaninov, Krupnik, REDRUM, Dave Morris acoustic, Randy Andreano, and Country Roots round out the lineup. There’s something for everyone, including hard rock, blues, folk and country. Brooks says this may be the last time to see Jamie Ervay, who’s planning to move out of the area. Ervay has proven to be very popular over the years with the local fans. Admission to the Woodside Music Festival is free and bike friendly, with plenty of parking on site. Food and refreshments will be available, and all ages are welcome.

The liver makes lipoproteins (also knows as cholesterol) to transport fats through the body. Liver health is therefore critical to the proper metabolism of fats and cholesterol in the body. As a storage center, the liver plays a very critical role, along with the pancreas and adrenals, in maintaining normal blood sugar levels. The liver stores excess sugar when blood sugar is high and releases it again when blood sugar levels drop. Thus, both low sugar levels and high sugar levels can be related to imbalance with the liver. The liver plays an important role in the immune system. When bacteria or infectious organisms are absorbed from the intestinal tract, the liver acts as a back-up line of immune defense, destroying them before they can get into the rest of the body. It is easy to see how even moderate liver unbalances could contribute to a whole host of health issues, like Constipation-Bile from the liver is a natural laxative, helping to promote normal elimination. High-level sugar- the liver works with the pancreas and adrenals to regulate blood sugar. To solve a Sudoku puzzle, place a number into each box so that each row across, each column down, and each small 9 box square within the larger diagram (there are 9 of these) will contain every number from 1 through 9. In other words, no number will appear more than once in any row, column, or smaller 9 box square. Working with the numbers already given as a guide, complete each diagram with the missing numbers that will lead to the correct solution. Good luck!

The ability to survive on this harsh planet is a superpower, but we’re used to it. We take it for granted that the elements that want to tear us to shreds are fended off by millennia of evolution as our bodies found better ways to protect the consciousness. But in fiction there are more super powers that can be dreamt up. For centuries imaginative writers and story tellers have come up
with a human who possesses some other faculty that they can use to better another human. We are told that we only use a small percentage of our brain power and to tap into that other part may lead to hyper evolution and create super-humans. But all that fantasy has yet to exist, and in theory it could be evil and catastrophic, even though most of us would want to use those powers for good. What would your super power be?
Kendra P. - Teleporting! Michael H. - Time travel. Spencer M. - To be invisible. You can basically just do anything you want.
Josh P. - To be able to talk to machines.
Elliott W. - Assuming I’m not the only one with superpowers, then bionic Jared H. - The power to reflection, which means make people love and be that I can reflect anyone’s superpowers! happy.
