Spotlight Second Act

APRIL 2020

Second Act

A free program for adults 50 and beyond

Dear Second Act members, SIH’s team of infectious disease and infection prevention specialists and emergency preparedness personnel continue to collaborate with local, state and federal officials regarding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) prevention and response. As we learned, older adults (especially with issues such as lung or heart issues) are at higher risk. Recently the Illinois Department of Aging provided recommendations for senior programs. Like many, we are doing our best to stay apprised of this ever-evolving situation and taking safety precautions as needed. After careful review and with your safety in mind, SIH Second Act group activities are suspended. This includes 1. Eat & Educates 2. Other Classes 3. Star Groups – We will not be endorsing Star Group activities during this time. However, if your group decides to continue meeting, please take necessary precautions listed in this newsletter. 4. Trips – Registrations scheduled for the immediate future are being cancelled or postponed to a “safer” time frame. If you have signed up for a trip, we will keep in contact with you. You may still see us promote trips for the future. 5. One-on-one appointments for Power of Attorney or iPhone help 6. One-on-one appointments for Medicare are available by phone only. We do not know exactly when activities will resume. Just keep watching your Spotlight newsletter. Please know we are keeping an eye on the situation. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
