ALOHA

PENGUIN S!

time you get this article in your newsletter, you will have finished

By the or be on

the brink of finishing your school year. As I’m writing this currently,

I can’t

help but be excited by the fact that I am going to Special Games and

tomorrow

that the school year will be ending in about two weeks. The school

year ends

in two weeks, but does Key Club? No - I understand that summer is a

time to enjoy your free time, but Key Club does continue. I hope you come to see Key Club as I do - not as work but rather as a family building infrastructure that serves a greater purpose and whom you can share your brightest moments and your lowest moments without fear of judgment as you may have with some of your peers at school or sports team. As a matter of fact, I currently cannot stop thinking about the Division and hanging out with you guys over the summer, especially with Key Club Training Conference being just around the corner to energize and motivate us all to serve our local communities this coming summer. We will be active this summer as your Board and the Division Leadership Team will be cooperating to ensure that there are a ton of opportunities to meet and serve with your fellow Penguins. So be excited! I challenge you to introduce yourself to everyone you meet, at every event, and to become friends with them - the idea of being acquainted with Key Clubbers, people who share the same passions as you, in the other cultures of different schools is fascinating and enlightening.

Waddling in service,

CLARISSA PHAM

MEET DIVISION LE

TE Aloha Penguins! am so excited to serve as a part of the division leadership team for this term. I joined Key Club my sophomore year kinda skeptical, but I soon fell in love with the club after going to my first and favorite service event, the Art and Wine Festival. Key Club has changed my life so much by giving me a passion for community service and has introduced me to so many amazing and inspiring people. I learned that Key Club is more than just another club to put on your resume, but it is an ohana. For the term, I’m looking forward to making this a great term with everyone and reaching our LTG’s goals for the division! If you ever have anything, Key Club related or not, feel free to just message me.

Hi, My name is Anthony from Cupertino and I am excited to be serving as one of your EA’s for the following term. Personally, I noticed that there aren’t as many people at DCM’s anymore. This drop in attendance raises a question: why did they leave? Seeing many of you at DCM’s, service events, FRN, DCON, etc and getting to know all of you make me happy, but I know there are a lot more of you out there that refuse to get more involved past club meetings and service events with just your school. Many of you like to stay within your friend groups from your own school, I do it too, and maybe this is why many of you don’t come to division wide events. With a fresh and new term, I plan to fulfill my goals by helping Albert host more interactive division wide service events and I personally will try to contact individual clubs to help them push their members to go. With these goals in mind, I look forward to a great service filled term alongside all of you!

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Hi Penguins, My name is Stina and I am super excited to serve as your Division News Editor this term. I have been part of Key Club since my freshman year, and I cannot begin to express my love for the D34S family! Ever since I went to my first Fall Rally in 2014, I instantly fell in love with the Key Club spirit. After seeing Alec Dong do the ‘How do you feel cheer,” I truly believe there is magic within Key Club. I’ve always had a passion for journalism and design. As you DNE, I will come out with monthly newsletter that covers past and future events. I will also do my best to design a newsletter that embodies the true Key Club spirit. I hoped you’ve enjoyed my first newsletter so far. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to an amazing term. Let’s make this one the best one yet!

Speaking of the new year, I will work hard to make sure that our division only sees upward progress. Let's work together to introduce new members to the Key Club family. With more members, we will need more funds to allow everyone experience the magic of key club. But at the same time, don't forget to have fun—then again, how can you not when you're with your fellow Penguins? I can't wait to make more amazing memories at DCMs, service events, etc. with all of you beautiful people. MAY DCM May DCM on May 7 at Heritage Park about an hour before attending the May Fete Parade. During the meeting, all of the new board members were introduced and celebrated in anticipation of the new term. Per usual, Key Club members shared club updates with each other, along with newer items of business like meeting the new Division Leadership Team. Being there with all the other Key Clubs of Division 34 South made all newer, and returning members feel welcomed as part of the Kiwanis family. —Kirsten Yee (Gunn)

The penguins went to join the May Fete parade. They had a lot of fun screaming and showing their spirit at every chance they got.
