Technology & Teaching Technology is becoming more prevalent in today’s classrooms. From laptops to cell phones, students are embracing the shift from pencil and paper to screens and keyboards.

What does this mean for teachers? It means that incorporation of technology into curriculum is of the upmost importance. Interactive instruction is an instructional strategy through which student engagement and the use of technology can be merged. The goal of interactive instruction is to engage students in the learning process through classroom discussions and collaboration. Many technological applications (apps) exist that can be utilized for this purpose; one being polling apps. Apps such as Socrative, Poll Everywhere, and Plickers allow for students to share their opinions and thoughts through use of iPads, cell phones, and laptops. These three polling apps (i.e., instructional interactives) will be featured in the February GaGa sessions.
