Some friendly advice… Do not overestimate the market for cross-border services; Labour markets, housing markets, tax conditions etc. will change Beware of Technical differences Language problems Cultural differences
Competitive tendering – make sure that you don’t need to accept the lowest bidder High Speed rail will not solve the rail sector’s problems!!!
Focus on Priority one - Reducing door-to-door travel time Integration of all modes of public transport (and other modes as well)
Information, information, info‌ (in several languages) especially when services do not operate as they should Distinguish between fare system and ticketing system With simple services and fare systems information gets eaiser
Lund (SE) station improvements
80 000 inhabitants 300 trains per day 30 000 train passengers per day Wider platforms→more capacity Cost 10 M €, shared 1/3 each by • Infrastructure manager, • City of Lund, • Skånetrafiken PTA
