From The Potentate... Nobles and Ladies, we still have many opportunities to enjoy camaraderie, help get our new Nobles settled into a Unit or Club, Parade in various places statewide and generally have a great time enjoying Shrinedom. To begin, we have our November 2nd Outreach Clinic. If you haven’t been to one of our Outreach Clinics, especially you new Nobles, you should really make an effort to attend. From the dedicated volunteers who keep everything working like a well-oiled machine, the visiting doctors who treat our kids for a whole variety of issues, to the Clowns who keep us all entertained with their antics – this is the reason we’re here, doing what we do. This is the “up close and personal” view of what it truly means to be a Shriner. November’s schedule has something for everyone. Yavapai County Shrine Club’s OV will be Nov. 8th, the Anthem VA Parade and Director’s Staff Steak Fry on Nov. 10th and Tempe’s VA Parade and Sun Lakes OV on Nov. 12th. Our November Stated Meeting is Chief Rabban Night & I doubt you’ll want to miss that one. Nov. 16th we have the Sun Lakes Golf Tournament and a Joint OV of the Drum & Bugle, Patrol, Roadrunners, Band, Oriental Band, DeMolay and Computer Club that evening. The Winslow Parade is Nov. 17th with their OV following. The Winslow Parade is so anticipated by all, it’s a joy to watch the crowd encourage us as we march or go by in our various Parade vehicles. Nov. 18th is the Apache Wells Golf Tournament. There will be a Candidate’s Dinner some time in November, date to be determined. We celebrate Thanksgiving on the 22nd and finish out the month and begin December with our Annual Shrine Circus.

The Grand Master of the State of Arizona has given dispensation to Montezuma Lodge for a Three Degree Festival to be held December 15th. This will be a great opportunity to bring your Masonic hopefuls into the fraternity, so please make certain you have all their paperwork in order prior to this date. December starts with our Circus, followed by Official Visitations, Christmas Parties, our Shrine Elections and Christmas, ending with our participation in the Fiesta Bowl Parade on Dec. 29th. December 3rd is the Clown’s Christmas Party OV, the Greeters have their Christmas Party OV the 7th, the Mounted Patrol & Patrol Party & OV will be Dec. 8th, Motorcycles Christmas Party OV on the 9th, Sun Lakes Party & OV on Dec. 11th and our Stated Meeting Elections December 12th. December 14th we’ll join Apache Wells for their Christmas Party OV. Saturday, December 15th is the Annual Christmas Party for our Shrine Kids, the Masonic One Day Festival and Legion of Honor’s Flag Retirement Ceremony. We’ll be at the West Valley OV Dec. 19th. There will be a Lifeline Screening Dec. 21st, Dec. 22nd is the Director’s Staff & El Dulabs Christmas Party, then we celebrate Christmas. We end December by participating in the Fiesta Bowl Parade and Party. If you mentored a Candidate, please remember to include them in all your Shrine Holiday plans & invite them to as many parties as they can fit into their schedules. From the Treasurer... Greetings from the bucket closet. Hope this finds you and yours doing well. All is well from the bucket closet, all our restricted funds are doing well, and we’re still in black ink in the general accounts. Come to a Stated Meeting and hear the exact amounts or drop by the office and anyone will show you the figures. Speaking of meetings, I hope you make the November meeting, it promises to be a blast, especially for Chief Rabban Ed Stolze. If you can’t make that one, please try to make the December meeting as it’s our Election night and you should be there to help determine the folks who’ll be guiding our Temple and Nobility. This will finally be my last year. Ten years has been just enough (some say too much). I’m happy to have had the opportunity to represent you for the

past 10 years and I’m thankful I could have been there while good times rolled and we accrued money above and beyond our expenses. Nothing I did caused that to happen, but it’s always more pleasant to report good news than bad. I’m honored that you continued to re-elect me each year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Part of the pleasure of my job is working with a bunch of great men. A perfect example is our present Pote. Hut’s done a great job of trying to create fun and fellowship and yet still maintain a budget that actually works. Give him a pat on the back when you see him. (A hard pat is OK) Thank you once again, and I hope to see you soon. Take good care of you and yours.

Recorder’s Message... As I wrote in my October Tales article, considering the date change, we need your support and involvement in the Circus Dads & Moms program more this year than ever. I’m asking that you donate so we can bring all the Valley kids to our Circus free of charge. If you can use your Circus tickets for yourselves, children and grandchildren, please do so. If you have no use for your tickets, please consider returning them to the Temple so we can pass them out to needy children Valley wide. Remember, come out and watch Santa present the bicycles. Nobles and Ladies, Santa Claus is coming to the Shrine Circus! Yes, folks, he’ll be there to present bicycles to the winners, so if you have time, come out and watch the happy faces of the kids when they receive their bikes. This is all possible due to your continued generous support of and contributions to the Circus Dads & Moms Program. I don’t much like the date of this year’s Circus either, but we had no choice due to the improvements being done at WestWorld. The Circus being held right after Thanksgiving, and right before Christmas, makes for some tense scheduling issues for all of us, not to mention the children who attend free of charge due to your donations. But I feel certain we’ll enjoy capacity crowds at every performance next year when WestWorld’s construction is finished and we can all enjoy a comfort we’ve never had before - an air-conditioned arena.

Congratulations to the October 2012 incoming Nobles of El Zaribah Shrine. I hope you find this poem fitting and valuable in your Shrine career. The Badge of a Shriner By the scimitar and crescent which you wear upon your coat You proclaim that you’re a Shriner. It’s a sign for men to note; It’s a symbol that your fellows have abiding faith in you; They believe that you are worthy and they trust in all you do: But I wonder, fellow Noble, as I meet you here and there, If you’ve really caught the meaning of that little badge you wear. By the token that you’re wearing, you’re expected to be fine: We have taught the world it’s something to be chosen by the Shrine; And the man who wears its emblem has his fellows guarantee That a gentleman of honor he is known and pledged to be; And if he should fail that standard by some thoughtless word or whim All Shriners, world wide over shall be put to shame by him. ...uniformed units... band... El Zaribah is one of the few Temples that still have a Band. Our Band was chartered at the same time and date that El Zaribah was chartered June 24, 1896. We need the continued support of our Divan and are very pleased our Den Mother Chris Hagenian (High Priest & Prophet) has been a frequent visitor and has offered suggestions to help us. The Band is now presenting a half hour PreStated Meeting program, 6:30 – 7:00 pm. It’s open to all including Ladies and non-Masonic or Shriner people/guests. New music reflecting the season, Units/Clubs activities, holidays, etc. will be featured each month. We, of course, are hoping for a good audience. This might just be a good way for you to show off El Zaribah to a potential Candidate – a good buffet dinner and some live musical entertainment. The Band is always there to provide musical entertainment for Masonic and sometimes non-Masonic efforts. Our Rehearsals are now open to anyone interested in band music. Rehearsals are held in the Band Room, NW corner of the Temple, regularly scheduled for the Thursday night prior to the monthly Stated Meeting, 7 - 9:00 pm. You’re welcome to join us (no cost) regardless of age, male or female, Masonic or non-Masonic affiliation, or your musical proficiency. Get that horn out of the closet and come join us for a good night of making music. John Locher (480-926-2583) is our Band Unit President. Please let him know in advance so we can prepare a folder for you. In addition to the Concert Band, we have an 8 - 12 member EZ - POPS sub-unit that performs lively up-tempo music for any special occasion. A complete repertoire is available for Polka, Dixieland, Patriotic, Christmas, Party, Swing, for dancing and/or listening pleasure. This well-rehearsed sub-unit, in existence since 1987, is FREE OF CHARGE to Masonic affiliates. Donations to the El Zaribah Shrine Band are appreciated. We’re looking forward to participating in the Joint OV on Friday night, November 16th. MEL

A few months ago I put a challenge out to see who reads these articles. I don’t recall anyone going up to Z-Klown to make him laugh with your best accent. Well, as another challenge out to the Nobility and/or the Clown Unit, I’d like to ask that we all do something funny or outrageous at the Clown OV. At the OV, please start randomly singing Jingle Bells or any other Christmas Carols. What a nice way to get us into the Christmas spirit by having copies of Christmas songs for all to sing and all of us singing carols with holiday spirit. So help me out by turning the OV into a proper Christmas party, too. Enjoy the holidays with a smile. An El Zaribah Clown

Culinary... Hi Nobles. Mark your calendars on Monday, December 3rd for our Holiday Party. We’ll be sharing the evening with the Clowns and a few other Units here at the Temple. It promises to be a memorable evening for our Ladies and us, as it always has been. In October, in addition to our regular duties, we served food to a group of Shriners on Orientation Night. We’re pleased to have these occasions to get together and participate in Temple activities. There may be other occasions in the near future when we’ll take part and share in the duties and activities of other Units in the Temple. For more information and discussion of this and other issues, be sure to attend our Unit meetings. We’re always ready to welcome new members into our Unit. Just show up at one of our meetings, held at the Temple on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm, or contact any of us for more information. Clowns... It’s November and by the time you read this, we’ve already had our Unit Elections complete and our 2013 Officers selected. I, like the rest of you, look forward to supporting the 2013 Unit leaders by coming to Temple events, dressing up at Parades and attending Clown events. Our leaders are only as good as the support received from our members, so please let’s remember to make our leaders great for all our sakes. Now that the year’s almost over that doesn’t mean we’re done, because we still have some exciting events coming up - Nov 2nd Clinic, Anthem Parade on the 10th, Tempe Parade on the 12th, Winslow Parade on the 17th, and the Circus starting on Nov 30th. Please remember we’ll need maximum participation supporting the Unit at the Circus this year, so if you need to dust off your outfits please do so and come join in on all the fun. There’s a whole slew of activities planned for the Motorcycle Unit. First off is our ride along the “Devils Highway” in Eastern Arizona also known as State Highway 191 from Springerville to Safford. I went to Tennessee last year to ride the “Tail of the Dragon,” well known for the twisties. “318 curves in 11 miles.” Deal’s Gap - it’s a hillbilly thing. I was bragging to my Unit Buddies and Taz said, “There’s a tougher course right here. It will really wear you out.” OK, I’m game. Let’s go. 10 Arabian Tales / November 2012

Howdy Ya’ll, greetings to and from the horse folks. We apologize sincerely for the postponement of the Fall Ride, but economically we just couldn’t pull it off. We’re working on some different angles to make it more feasible. In the meantime, we’re still planning our Spring Ride which is scheduled for April 4th-7th, 2013. Please set your alarm clock for that one, we promise to roll out the red horse path for you. Also, please plan on making our Christmas party. And for sure set your date book to make the Shrine Stated meeting in December. It’s Election time, remember! Try to make any and all the meetings you can. Your ideas and opinions help make us what we are, so come often. Take good care of yourself and yours till we cross paths again. Vaya Con Dios.

Is it possible to get blisters on your behind? Man, is my butt sore! We did it. Rode the “Devils Highway,” AZ Hwy 191 from Safford to Alpine, also known as the Coronado Trail. My day started at oh-dark-twenty when I left home to head for Apache Junction to meet up with the other riders from the El Zaribah Motorcycle Unit. Our clutch out point was the Waffle House on Idaho and Hwy 60. With eggs and hash browns packed down with an extra cup of coffee, I settle down to follow Dana and his Lady. We’re headed for Safford to pick up an old friend of Stew’s who’s joining us. We ride through the San Carlos Indian Reservation. It’s a different world - little garden patches beside small houses; cars on blocks in the yards; copper ingots that would outweigh an old Buick on railroad flatcars. We pick up Mark and his Lady at a Subway. With a full tank and half a turkey on rye under my belt, we head out. In no time we’re skirting Morenci mining pits. It’s a very long way down. Conveyor belts are dropping ore in piles directly on the right. The gigantic Euclid dump trucks are pulling up grades less steep than the road we’re on. Where they cross our road, the surface is crushed. To gain elevation, we’re taking switch backs. When you’re on the inside, one of your floorboards can’t help but drag. Once in a tunnel, the guys gun their engines to hear their pipes… deafening. On top, it looks a lot like the California Sierras - oak trees and grassland, vistas like the Smoky Mountains. We pull over to kick a tree and congratulate ourselves on getting that far. All riders add clothing. For sure you won’t see a semi truck on these roads, however the ranchers with dualie pickups and 4-horse trailers own the corners. Alpine Pass was chilly at 8,550 feet. At Hannagan’s Meadow I see a rarity for Arizona, a creek - it’s flowing in the same direction we are. Must be going down. (To be continued.) Little Jim, Drill Team Member

Patrol... The Patrol’s been very active since the writing of the last article. Members have participated in the Kingman Parade, Mohave OV and the trip to Oatman. **SAFETY ALERT** Do not hide carrots in your back pocket when feeding the donkeys in Oatman. A member of the Patrol, who at his request shall remain nameless, reported that he still suffers from bite marks on his fanny. Art, we all hope you’re feeling better by now! ...Shrine Clubs... Mobile Nobles... Fall is here and we’re expecting our Nobles from the North to start arriving back in the Valley. Welcome back and hopefully you’ve had a great summer. We had our first meeting on Oct 18th at 7 pm. Oct is generally slow for us but we expect to get back into the full swing of things by the time our November meeting rolls around. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Venture Out Resort, 5001 E Main, Mesa. Come by and visit. Nobles Tom Ricard and John LeClair participated in the Shrine Parades during the summer and continued the aluminum can project by making numerous trips to the recycling plant. A big thank you to Tom’s son for helping us with the delivery of the cans.

sun Lakes... It’s been quite a summer with the Monsoon, Haboobs and the unusual heat. As we return from dark many of us haven’t been idle. Our Golf Chairman and Past Pres. Jerry Sanford’s had many of our Nobles busy working on the Don Watkins Memorial Golf Tournament. This Tournament’s our major fund-raising event of the year. It’s coming Nov. 16th at the Sun Bird Country Club. Check-in is at 11:00 am with a Shotgun Start at Noon. This is a very special event in which we’ll honor Past Pres. Don Watkins who was visited by the Black Camel earlier this year. Noble Don worked hard and effectively as our Golf Chairman the past several years and is responsible for funding our treasury to see us through the foreseeable future. Past Pres. Jerry’s been coordinating this years event and seriously needs all members to pitch in wherever they can. Sponsors play a major role in providing the necessary income. This is where all our members can take part. Noble Don used to remind us how easy it is to get someone you’re doing business with to sponsor a hole - Doctors, Dentists, Car Dealers and Repair Shops are only a few examples. A large sponsorship sign is only $250. Call Noble Jerry (480895-1121) to find out how to get sponsors if you don’t have any in mind.

Play will be a 4-person scramble. Participants may make up their own foursomes. Individual players and couples will be assigned teams which will be flighted by 25% of total handicap. There will be 3 flights. Awards will be given to the first 3 teams in each flight; 144 players maximum. As we return from dark and Winter Visitors continue to arrive back to the Valley, we want to remind everyone of our OV of Ill. Sir Hut Hutson, Potentate, El Zaribah Nov. 12th. For this event, our social hour starts at 5:00 pm with dinner at 6:00 pm. Next is our annual meeting Dec. 10th when we nominate and Elect 2013 Officers. Please start thinking of who you’d like to see nominated. We’ll be electing President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Normally our meetings start in the Cactus Corner with a social hour at 4:30 pm, leading into the Club meeting at 5:00 with dinner at 6:00. Yavapai County... The high country’s cool, lush and beautiful in its fall colors and we’re looking forward to our visit from Ill. Sir Hut Hutson, Potentate 2012 and the Divan on November 8th. Our Misfits car club will participate in the Veterans Day Parade and the Christmas Parade in Prescott among others. YCSC hosted the Shrine Circus at Tim’s Toyota Center on Sept 13th. The animals and performers were wonderful and mesmerized the crowd, along with the “kid” in all our Nobles who circulated and represented to the community that Shrinedom is alive and well in the high country. Yuma... Well, the Circus has come and gone. Not a lot of people - that happened to be the weekend everyone had something going on. But the weather was nice for those who did come out. After Havasu, San Luis, Mexico should be starting their own Shrine Club. This will help keep the Shrine in the public eye, as they’re only 20 miles from us. Noble Douglas Hobart has been a big help getting this going - thanks for all your work. The Foothills Club is back in full swing and we look forward to getting together with them. For us, it’s a nice change because they’re Nobles from all over the northern US and Canada. They bring new ideas to us and hopefully we show them that we’re all together as one big Club. We’re looking forward to the Christmas Parades and maybe we’ll have some of the Phoenix Nobles coming down. We do about half the route as the Rodeo Parade. Hope all have a Happy Thanksgiving. ...Comments... you Must Do your Own Homework I read an article just the other day the SEC is going to start fact checking all of the applications for the Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) license - it seems in the past they had many credential inaccuracies. I was a bit put off, if you will, by the article. It wasn’t that people lie. What put me off is the question, “What are we paying the SEC to do?” Where are those fees the RIA’s are paying with the application going? I assure you the billion dollar plus budget of the SEC has to be going somewhere, but why haven’t they been doing something as simple as background checks? After all, they require their broker dealers to “know their client” - why does the SEC not “know their licensees”? I posed this question to a fellow who does a lot of background checks and he laughed. He gave me a quick overview of the state of background checks. Let me paraphrase his response. From his experience he’s found that on average about 1 in 7 financial professionals has a credential overreach and 1 in 15 has a material falsehood on their resumes. Further, if you think this is bad, for medical professionals his experience is that 1 in 5 medical doctors has a credential overreach and 1 in 10 has a falsehood on their resumes. As he quipped to me, “We’re never better that when we put ourselves down on paper.” In reality the regulatory bodies, when and if they do any type of background check, get it wrong. Not that they don’t get that a background check’s needed, they get that part. The regulators view the expense of a background check as a “grudge buy” - much like people view security as an expense as opposed to an investment to reduce losses. A good background check on all employees or licensees is essential in the development and maintenance of a valued reputation that translates into brand reputation and thus brand value. This “grudge buy” mentality leads managers to choose “cheap and cheerful” background checks, which, in the end, are neither. CEO’s of public companies who don’t have the degrees claimed; editors of large newspapers who claimed to be war heroes (who never served in the armed forces); medical doctors hired while they’re under investigation in other countries for killing patients, or investment fund managers who run billion dollar frauds right under the SEC’s nose - are all symptoms of “cheap and cheerful” background checks. He followed up with something that also shook me a bit. The flip-side fallacy is to have a “zero tolerance policy.” This has nothing to do with getting it right, but is a procedural methodology to avoid thinking or uncomfortable choices. Checklists only work for those who sell checklists - you have to think for yourself. Support Our Advertisers

For example, he asked if I’d hire a felon? Without letting me answer the question, he fired back. How does a felony impair a person’s ability… to sell real estate, work as certified civil engineer, or rent an apartment? I said I guessed it depended upon the felony. “Exactly!” he shot back. A man he knows is a real-estate broker and a civil engineer. He’s been charged with a felony DUI. The man fully admits his condition at the time, and that’s why he was sleeping in the back of the car - but he had his keys on him and he was charged and arrested. With a felony, he’ll loose his real-estate license, his civil engineer license and be asked to leave his apartment, as his apartment’s signed on to a local crime free multi-housing compact. It is, he said, a punishment without end, a checklist result from those who do no homework. I got his point - we must be responsible for ourselves first and foremost. We can’t copy the homework of the person next to us. We learn nothing and who knows if our neighbor did their homework either. When we rely on others without first doing our homework, it’s admittedly foolish. We can see the manifestations of these failed assumptions when things go wrong and the blame game starts. They copied someone else’s homework and blamed the neighbor for their failure. We live in a country that declares, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” We Masons too stand for very lofty ideals, and further we’re charged to put these ideals into actions - inspired deeds from inspired words. Freemasonry stands for the reverence of God and the proper place of individual of faith in society; for truth and justice; for fraternity and philanthropy; and for orderly civil, religious, and intellectual liberty. We’re to live responsibly, behave honorably and inspire charity and goodwill toward all mankind. We’re to do this ourselves and inspire our brothers to do the same or better. Thus, my homework assignment is to do my own homework. We’re given no refuge in life but to think and if we ask enough questions, we’ll learn to ask the right questions. So, is it better to work with someone who lies on their resume or someone who’s failed and recovered...? To answer the question, you must do your own homework.

Nobles: I have a suggestion to our Nobles and Ladies who donate to the Valley of the Sun United Way through payroll deductions or other means. Many of our Nobles make donations to the Valley of the Sun United Way and designate the El Zaribah Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation Fund as their charity of choice. We then receive payments from the Valley of the Sun United Way and this helps our Transportation Fund for our children. We greatly appreciate this support from our Nobles. Those who would like to contribute through the Valley of the Sun United Way and designate the El Zaribah Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation Fund should contact their employer for assistance. This is a great way to supplement our Transportation Fund so we can continue to help children get to and from the hospitals. I’d like to recognize Susan Manley, “Chuckles” the LOS Clown, who has become a regular at our Outreach Clinics. She has a very unique way of bringing smiles to our patients. ...Hospital News... Los Angeles unit... GREAT NEWS! IT’S NOW EASIER THAN EVER TO REFER A PATIENT TO SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN! As you may have heard from previous communications from Shriners International, it’s no longer necessary for families to complete an “application” in order to be considered for treatment at Shriners Hospitals for Children. We’ve eliminated the need to fill out a complex two-page form that must be delivered to the hospital and processed before a patient can be considered for treatment. THERE ARE NOW SEVERAL WAYS YOU MAY REFER A PATIENT: 1) Provide the family with the Shriners Hospitals for Children business card, provided by your hospital; and inform the family to call the Patient Referral line for an appointment. Please ensure your name and Temple is written on the card. 2) Direct the family to the following Shriners Hospitals for Children internet site where they can locate the phone number for the nearest Shriners Hospital: http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU? 1) When speaking to the public about how to refer a patient to your facility, please eliminate the terminology “apply for care” or “application.” Our goal is to remove the perceived barrier of “applying” for care; instead use the term “refer a patient.” 2) Each Shriners Hospital has distributed business cards with their toll free number and website information to their Temples. These business cards include a space for each Shriner to write his name and Temple for patient referral purposes. 3) Hospitals will ensure they have the names and contact information for Shriners at your Temple responsible for the following: Screening Clinics; Patient Referrals (previously known as “applications”); Public Relations. They will be provided adequate supplies of the hospital specific referral business cards to meet your needs. Additional patient referral/recruitment materials will also be provided when available. WHAT ABOUT SCREENING CLINICS? 1) Shriners Hospitals for Children is working to improve patient referral networks with physicians, healthcare specialists, insurance companies and others. You may find that screening clinic processes may change due to increased ease in access to appointments and visibility of Shriners Hospitals for Children with marketing campaigns. 2) If you are hosting an event, please be aware that the Patient Referral Line may not be staffed on weekends and holidays. We encourage the use of the hospital business cards for patients to call directly to the Patient Referral Line during business hours (Monday-Friday).

3) Another option, soon to be available, will be a hospital-specific patient referral brochure/form that Shriners International is in the process of developing so that families will be able to mail/fax to Shriners Hospitals. Additional information regarding this is forthcoming. 4) Due to concerns with the safekeeping of patient/family personal information, it is best that the family sends this directly to your Shriners Hospital. 5) HIPAA protected patient information should not be retained in any databases except those maintained by the hospital. HOW WILL THE NEW PROCESS ENSURE THAT THE PATIENTS GET THE SERVICES THEY NEED? 1) The hospitals have medical intake criteria used to ensure that the hospital will be able to provide the necessary service for the patient. 2) If your Shriners Hospital is unable to care for the patient, the family may receive a referral to another Shriners facility or a resource that can further assist them. WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORTATION REqUESTS? 1) If you provide transportation services for patients, your hospital will have transportation reports for your Temple Transportation Coordinator. If you do not provide transportation currently, please do not begin providing this service. 2) For those hospitals offering transportation support, when each patient is scheduled for an appointment, they will be asked if they require transportation support (“Yes” or “No”); this will be entered into the hospital’s appointment registration system. 3) This information will flow to a Temple specific transportation report that will display the patient demographic information (name/address/phone number), guardian information, patient ambulatory status and appointment date and time. 4) Hospitals will provide this report to their respective Temples. HOW WILL THE TEMPLES KNOW HOW MANY PATIENTS THEY REFERRED? 1) During the patient intake process, each patient will be asked “How did you hear about Shriners Hospitals for Children?” If their response is a Shriner, the intake staff will add the Shriners name and Temple into the hospital’s appointment registration system. (Hospital staff will look up the Temple if not reported by the patient. 2) Each hospital will have the capability to pull a report that shows the number of patients referred by each Temple or individual Shriner, given that the information is provided. DO YOU HAVE ANY qUESTIONS ABOUT THIS CHANGE? Please feel free to contact your hospital resource or your Temple’s representative to the hospital’s Board of Governors. We know that many Shriners have concerns about this new process, but we want to assure everyone that the Shriners are now more important than ever in helping us find the children we can help. By eliminating the hurdle of completing a two-page form, it has become easier than ever for members of the fraternity to help families in their communities get connected with Shriners Hospitals for Children.
