Hello everyone and welcome along to the Domain for the last full weekend of home games this season. Fingers crossed the weather plays ball for us this time. I won’t lie - it’s been a very long season for the handful of masochists who are trying to keep this club moving forward. The club meeting we held a couple of weeks ago seems to have nudged us closer to what should be our favoured course, but there’s still so much work to be done. Really, what we’re looking for - what we need - is to see our club membership, across the board, start to look for ways to contribute rather than just expecting stuff to be done. I know ingrained habits don’t just change overnight... so we all need to keep working at it. Again, your club needs you but how much do you need your club? Think about it, answer that question, then please act accordingly. God, I sound like a parent... Anyway, on a far more friendly note, welcome to this weekend’s visitors. We have a double header against West Hamilton, who are visiting on Saturday to play our Premiership team and our ressies. Neighbours, Putaruru, are here to play our 3rds, while we say hello to Northern United on Sunday. One of our biggest challenges in recent weeks (in fact, it seems like for the whole season) has been getting fit teams on the field, especially for our mens teams. We thought last season, and the season before, and the season before etc were bad for injuries, but 2021 has been something else. Last week was as close to as bad as we’ve seen on that front but, as it turned out, adversity brought everyone together, all three sides still got on the field and we even pulled off some very credible results. Well done to everyone involved - that’s the sort of club spirit that makes me, and many others, proud to be a Swift. I hope everyone enjoys this weekend’s games. Junior Opportunity - Shirt Sponsorship Investment: $500 + GST. We have full sets of shirts, in the club’s new Nike style, on order now for ALL our junior 8th to 12th grade teams. We expect them to be available and in use by mid-June.
