Hello everyone and welcome back to the Domain. This is the first in a run of home games for Comag Matamata Swifts after a crap-Domain-surface enforced away schedule during the start of the season. Hopefully the recent wet weather, along with some rolling, has the field in decent (enough) shape today. We’re obviously in a run of less than ideal form which, each week, makes the next game a must win encounter. Obviously, regardless of form and position on the table, every game is must win (it’s one of the main reasons we play) but when you’re at either end of the league it just magnifies the pressure. Ngongotaha, our visitors today, will be thinking and feeling the same. The stakes are high for both teams, so that should add to the tension - for us fans especially. One thing we don’t lack here in Matamata is support for football. Whether it’s on the sidelines, behind the scenes, with our juniors, or from the club’s partners and funders, we receive superb backing. Our community has a range of businesses that are passionate about sport and show it by sponsoring the town’s clubs, ourselves included. From the Swifts’ naming rights sponsors, Comag, to J.Swap Contractors, the Lion Foundations, our other senior teams’ sponsors - Waharoa Transport, Fez Kebab and Challenge Matamata - along with all our other partners (see page 4 of this mag) we have a lot of people to say a huge thank you to. Back to today’s game, in many ways it could be seen as a defining fixture for each club’s season. That being said, regardless of any result or set of results, both clubs will still be here as a home for our current and future players, coaches, supporters and sponsors. Be thankful for that. Junior Opportunity - Shirt Sponsorship Investment: $500 + GST. We have full sets of shirts, in the club’s new Nike style, on order now for ALL our junior 8th to 12th grade teams. We expect them to be available and in use by mid-June. With this comes a unique opportunity to get the logo of your business, or the business you work for, placed on the front of the shirts of your child’s team.
