The CDD Board of Supervisors Seat #3 is open, as Adam Tanenbaum has stepped down after a very productive tenure as Supervisor and most recently, Chairman. If interested, submit a resume by July 2, as discussion is scheduled to take place at the July 14th meeting. Seat #3 has a term ending November 2016 and does pay $200 per meeting, up to $4,800 a year.

Warm Greetings, We hope that you are having a fun and productive summer, while doing your best to stay cool during these warm months. Please take time to stop by the Snack Shack at the Community Center for an ice-cream treat or beverage to stay hydrated. We have also added protein bars, energy drinks, tennis balls, and new items to be added with your input. Call 991-9226, opt. 3 for current operating hours. As we to embark upon offering new activities throughout the community, we hope that you have had a chance to attend some of these events, provide feedback on, or will hopefully have time to attend in the near future. These activities are geared towards creating a sense of community, friendship, and fun. If you are interested in volunteering for any of our planned events, I encourage you to contact me directly for more information. Please continue to reference upcoming activities through the newsletter, website, social media, banners, postings at the Community Center, and by calling the Community Center at 991-9226, opt. 6. If you would like to subscribe to our e-mail distribution list, please e-mail me at jasonv@arborgreene.com as we will send updates approximately twice monthly. I want to bring the community up to speed on a few projects that we have been involved with recently. You may have noticed repairs taking place at the Clubhouse. Our goal is to extend the life of the facilities roof, by making needed repairs to the dormers, arbors, gutter system, fascia, and areas of flashing. For a fresh look, we are scheduled to start a painting project which will include the exterior of the clubhouse, snack shack, gatehouse, and gazebos. We ask that you bear with us during these projects, as they will require walkways and entrances to be diverted and consideration of related construction noise. It is with great pleasure that we announce the addition of complimentary WiFi at the Community Center, Fitness and Resort Pools, Snack Shack, and Tennis Court #1. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable Independence Day, Jason von Merveldt, Community Manager

The Purpose Of Stormwater Ponds And Drainage Easements The beautiful open water bodies located throughout Arbor Greene are not natural lakes. They are engineered stormwater management facilities owned, operated and maintained by the Arbor Green Community Development District (the “CDD”). The CDD inspects and maintains the facilities regularly in order to assure their proper operation. These stormwater ponds are designed to treat and store the runoff from the streets, lots, and common areas within the community in order to protect receiving wetlands and waterways from pollution and flooding. Runoff from landscaped lawns and community streets is polluted with oils, heavy metals, herbicides/pesticides, and fertilizers, and treatment of these pollutants was planned to occur by slowly releasing a portion of the runoff in the pond across a vegetated pond littoral shelf through an orifice downstream. The receiving downstream wetlands also provide additional treatment as water flows further downstream beyond CDD owned lands. Additional runoff is stored in the ponds and released through a weir which controls the flow of water to prevent flooding downstream. The orifice and weir are combined and constructed as the “control structure” portion of the stormwater ponds which need regular maintenance to provide proper flow and regulation of the pond design water levels to prevent flooding within the community. A maintenance berm was constructed around the top of bank of each pond to allow the CDD access for proper operation and maintenance of the ponds and control structures, and this berm is contained within a drainage easement along the rear of the abutting lots. As well, the inflow pipes from the storm sewer systems along the streets that drain into the ponds are also contained in drainage easements for the CDD to access, operate, and maintain outside the street rights of way. The drainage easements are not allowed to have any encroachments so that emergency access is available at all times. These lands within the easements are owned by the residents who the CDD looks to for proper grassing and stabilization, and compliance with regulations covering any non-standard illicit discharges into CDD ponds and/or storm sewer systems that may contain other toxic and/or damaging pollutants, i.e. pool and water conditioner discharges. It is very important to understand that the ponds contain polluted water, thus one of the reasons why swimming and fishing are not allowed. The CDD hopes the community enjoys the ponds and welcomes everyone to attend the CDD meetings to discuss any pond issues. Tonja L. Stewart, P.E. Stantec Consulting Services Inc. Message From Your Neighborhood Watch (NWA) Coordinators - Paul & Hally Boucher “Let’s Help Reduce Crimes of Convenience” This month’s article is meant to address a growing criminal trend in the Tampa area. A large number of us moved into AG for the added security that our gates and guards afford; however, they can’t prevent all crime. Crime of Convenience is a recurring trend in Tampa which occurs when we make it easier, or tempting, for criminals to commit thefts or burglaries. We increase the chances of becoming victims of Crime of Convenience when we leave valuables unattended, vehicles or homes unlocked, garage doors open, and exterior lights off at night. Unfortunately, our gates can lull us into a false sense of security, making it easier for people to commit Crimes of Convenience in AG. Our gate security can prevent a large amount of crime, but it’s up to all of us to try and prevent the rest. Crime of Convenience is one of the quickest and easiest ways for thieves to steal our valuables. Most of these crimes are not committed by “professional” criminals, or even the criminal types that most of us see on TV shows. Many of these criminals often have little to do with their time but take advantage of an opportunity to commit a crime. When we leave our vehicles or homes unlocked, with the lights off, or valuables unattended, we may be creating that opportunity. Crime of Convenience is a growing but preventable trend in Tampa. Some basic and important security tips to help prevent these crimes are to lock all doors, windows, lanai doors, and fence gates; shut garage doors; turn on front and rear lights during the hours of darkness; and turn on an alarm system if you have one. Don’t forget to inventory and photograph your valuables and store that information in a secure location. Make sure to take actions to secure

your home while you are away for even a short period of time. As recommended by the Tampa Police Department (TPD), if you see suspicious person(s) or activity, immediately call the TPD’s Suspicious Activity line (813-231-6130). If you think a crime is about to occur or has been committed against person(s) or property, then immediately dial 9-1-1. In either case, call the TPD from a safe location and do not confront suspicious person(s). The TPD Dispatcher will ask you several questions about the suspect(s) activities, gender, age, race, clothing, height, weight, etc. and suspect(s) vehicle (including make, model, year, color, license plate number, etc.), if any. The TPD uses this data to initially assess the situation and aids them in deciding how rapidly they send or divert TPD units, how many units are dispatched to your location, etc. The TPD asks AG residents to act as their “eyes and ears,” watching for and immediately reporting suspicious activity and crimes. If you would like to receive additional security tips and other relevant information from the TPD, please email us at ArborGreene-NWA@hotmail.com. Joining this email distribution group does not obligate you to any other NWA activity, but should help you and your family to be better informed and more secure, making AG an even better place to live. AG NWA is an all-volunteer run program Neighborhood Watch overseen by the TPD. Thank you. NWA
