Help Protect Our Waterways and Keep the Streets Clean!! Part of the Arbor Greene CDD and resident commitment to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection “FDEP” in helping to keep our waterways clean, involves the stormwater management system. This time of the year presents a heavy collection of acorns, leaves, and debris within the community. Debris that is intentionally swept, blown, or simply discarded in the storm drains, conservation, and wetlands is considered as an illicit discharge and can reported to the City of Tampa, potentially resulting in fines. This debris can also cause buildup in the stormwater system, potentially causing flooding in the roads and on both CDD and homeowner property, resulting in significant amounts of damage and costly repairs. We highly encourage you to help keep this debris out of the streets and gutters and to dispose of properly to help protect our waterways and keep our streets clean. The Arbor Greene CDD has hired a street sweeping service to help keep our streets clean as a part of our commitment to the residents and the FDEP. USA Services is scheduled to sweep every-other month (monthly during heavy leaf fall), yet there are a few guidelines you should be aware of. If leaves are blown into the street, or left in piles, the street sweeper will not pick these up as their service is for the collection of natural falling leaves/debris in the streets. The leaves that fall from our beautiful oak trees should not be blown into the street in hopes that rain will wash them away, or that the street sweeper will pick them up. Please gather and bag acorns, leaves and debris to be collected and disposed of properly with the yard waste collection on Thursdays. What should you do if I see an illicit or illegal discharge that could affect our Stormwater Management System? Please contact the City of Tampa Stormwater Division – Illicit/Illegal Discharge (813) 274-3101, or the Arbor Greene CDD Community Manager (813) 991-9226 ext. 7. Thank you for your assistance!!

*Pool cover will remain on if outside temperature is below 45 degrees

As you may recall from last month’s Arbor Greene Gazette, Patrick Dooley is the HOA’s new Licensed Community Association Manager (LCAM); and he may be reached at PDooley@greenacre.com or directly at (813) 936-4108. Furthermore, Deanna Katz, LCAM, is the HOA’s new assistant manager; and she may be reached at DKatz@greenacre.com or directly at (813) 936-4148. Your patience during this transition period is appreciated. We are pleased to announce that Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, who was recently elected to represent Hillsborough County District 2, which includes our Arbor Greene community, will be at this month’s HOA board meeting, scheduled to commence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, in the gathering room of the Arbor Greene Community Center. Prior to any major exterior project, including, for example, the repainting of the home’s exterior, replacing the mailbox or roof, changing the landscape design, making any architectural modification, etc., an application must be submitted to the HOA’s Design Review Board (DRB), in addition to whatever else may be required, e.g., City of Tampa permit and/or CDD approval, etc.; and a Notice of Completion (NOC) must be submitted to the DRB for review and approval once the exterior project has been completed. All Arbor Greene residents and visitors are reminded that there is no overnight street parking permitted and that parking on sidewalks is prohibited. Enforcement actions are only taken if and when voluntary compliance fails. Sincerely, Arbor Greene HOA Board of Directors ARBOR GREENE GAZETTE

Neighborhood Watch Basic Crime Prevention Tips EMERGENCY...CALL 9-1-1 Non-Emergency...(813) 231-6130 Simply being aware of ones surroundings can reduce or eliminate the potential of becoming a victim of a crime. Please read and practice these Basic Crime Prevention Tips as follows: • If at all possible, travel with a buddy. • Try to do all errands during daylight hours. • Do not wear excessive amounts of jewelry. • Carry small amounts of cash and credit cards. • Listen to your instincts, if you feel you are being followed, change your course of travel. Cross the road or approach a home that looks occupied. • Walk with confidence! Keep your head up and pay attention to what is happening around you. Do not look down at your cellular to check messages or text. Perpetrators are looking for people who are not paying attention. • Keep the doors locked on your vehicle and keep valuables out of sight at all times. Music CD's and loose change are temptations to thieves. • Never hesitate to call the Police when witnessing suspicious behavior. Your call just may prevent someone from being a victim of a crime. You can learn more at https://www.tampagov.net/police Karen Usherwood - Neighborhood Watch (NWA) Coordinator *The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the Arbor Greene CDD.

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

Below are a few commonly asked questions concerning stormwater.



What are the effects of storm water runoff? Stormwater runoff is the transport vehicle for pollutants. Any dirt, oil, grease, fertilizer or other pollutants on the ground can be picked up by stormwater runoff and carried into the storm drains, lakes and rivers. These pollutants may include nutrients which provide food for unwanted aquatic plants like hydrilla and algae. Excessive alage growth can lead to decreased oxygen in the water that fish need to breathe, resulting in fish kills. Bacteria and other pathogens from pet waste can create serious health hazards in ponds and lakes.



What is illicit or illegal discharge? Any substance released into the separate storm water drainage system that is not composed entirely of stormwater or uncontaminated groundwater. Examples of illicit discharges include dumping or motor vehicle fluids, household hazardous waster, paint, pool water, grass clippings, leaf litter or animal waste.



What should I do if I see an illicit or illegal discharge that could affect our Stormwater Management System? Please contact the Hillsborough county Stormwater Emergency Operations Center (813) 272-5912, or (813) 272-6900, City of Tampa Stormwater Division - Illicit/Illegal Discharge (813) 2743101, or the Arbor Greene CDD Community Manager (813) 9919226 ext. 7.
