Within the community, there is also concern of unsupervised children playing on community streets and on CDD property including playgrounds and the community center facilities. This type of activity is of great concern as the children are in danger of being struck by a vehicle or injured while playing in the common areas or near pools. We need parental assistance in monitoring children to ensure they are kept out of harm’s way. This also includes obeying all traffic signs, lights, and rules within the community and being aware of children that will be on our busy roads and sidewalks. In

ARBOR GREENE REAL ESTATE UPDATE HOMES SOLD IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS

District Engineer Pond Bank Report STORMWATER POND SLOPE EROSION

The slopes of the community’s stormwater ponds are susceptible to erosion due to 1) the normal annual fluctuation of the groundwater conditions between the rainy and dry seasons, 2) point discharges from roof drainage, pool drains, and water conditioners, and 3) lack of vegetation and/or sod. The Community Development District (the “CDD”) performs regular inspections of their ponds to assess their conditions and identify any areas that have eroded or show potential for erosion. We have experienced wet dry seasons over the past three years which has resulted in little fluctuation of the pond water levels and little to no erosion on the pond slopes below the water level has resulted. Point discharges from pools and water conditioners are considered illicit discharges and can significantly damage pond berms and slopes due to the quality of the water, as well as the concentrated flow of water. Roof drainage can also cause berm and slope erosion due to the concentrated flow of water. The CDD requests that residents who have or plan to create such point discharges contact the CDD office to discuss ways to reduce the erosion potential. As well, it is very important for residents to establish and maintain vegetation and/or sod on the pond berms and slopes located on their property so that bare soil does not result in erosion. The District has, over the years, developed a few methods of erosion repair for erosion that occurs on its property, and several erosion repair projects have been put on hold until pond water levels decline normally so that the work is done as efficiently as possible. The CDD hopes the community enjoys the ponds and welcomes everyone to attend the CDD meetings to discuss any pond issues. Tonja L. Stewart, P.E. Stantec Consulting Services Inc. impact on the security of AG. This allows our gate security to act as our first line of defense against crime in our community.

“Supporting Our First Line of Defense” Many of us moved to Arbor Greene (AG) for the added security that the gates and guards afford. It’s natural for many of us to become reliant on our gates and guards, believing that they should prevent all crime in our community. Our gates provide a large deterrence to many potential criminals; however, the gates don’t prevent all crime and each of us has an important part to play in this process. At first glance, some of us may feel our gate personnel seem to have an easy job; however, most of us only see these guards for a brief few seconds each day and may not appreciate the challenges they are faced with. Arbor Greene has a high volume of visitors and residents that flow through our Visitor and Resident gates daily. NWA works with our gate personnel periodically to provide feedback to AG leadership regarding gate and security operations. Most residents do their best to follow the rules; approaching the gate at the posted 10 mph or below and ensure they have a working barcode on their vehicle to activate the gate. However, some residents lose sight of these basic rules and are unaware of the problems they unfortunately cause our guards as well as the entire community. A non-working (old or dirty) or non-existent barcode, tailgating too closely to the vehicle ahead of you, or approaching the gate too quickly, may not activate the gate entry arm. During periods of high traffic at the entry gates, this situation can cause a long backup of vehicles in the resident lane as a guard tries to gather the required data from a driver before allowing their entry when a vehicle that hasn’t activated the gate. When the gate is not activated, unfortunately, the reason may also be that a non-resident is trying to enter our community through the resident lane. By ensuring basic rules are followed, we can help to speed operations at the gate and prevent non-residents or potential criminals from improperly gaining access to our community. AG gate guards are also required to verify the identity of residents and visitors between 10 PM and 6 AM, so please be patient and respectful while having your driver’s license ready. This is a security policy no matter how often you or your visitors may have already passed through the gates. Helping our guards follow gate procedures has a positive ARBORE GREENE GAZETTE

Residents who choose not to purchase a barcode at the Community Center/Clubhouse need to remember they are not able to activate the gate through the resident entry lane and must use the visitor lane. The guards are required to gather information on everyone entering the community that doesn’t have an operating AG issued barcode. This helps maintain the basic security of our community. Please remember that following the rules and being supportive of our guards and gate procedures is an important role each of us plays in ensuring this process works. Likewise, if you observe questionable operating procedures at our gates, please pass this information on to the AG community management to ensure our security is properly maintained. Other ways to help maintain our security is, as recommended by the TPD, is to report if you observe suspicious person(s) or activity by immediately calling the Tampa Police Department’s (TPD) Suspicious Activity/NonEmergency line (813-231-6130). However, if you believe a crime is about to occur or has been committed against person(s) or property, then immediately dial 9-1-1. In either case, call the TPD from a safe location and do not confront suspicious person(s). The TPD Dispatcher will ask you questions about the suspect(s) activities, gender, age, race, clothing, height, weight, etc. and suspect(s) vehicle (including make, model, year, color, license plate number, etc.), if any. The TPD uses this data to initially assess the situation and aids them in deciding how rapidly they send or divert TPD units, how many units are dispatched to your location, etc. The TPD asks AG residents to act as their “eyes and ears,” watching for and immediately reporting suspicious activity and crimes. If you would like to receive additional security tips and other relevant information from the TPD, please email us at ArborGreene-NWA@hotmail.com. Joining this email distribution group does not obligate you to any other NWA activity, but should help you and your family to be better informed and more secure, making AG an even better place to live. AG NWA is an all-volunteer run program overseen by the TPD.

Christine Assefa Owner of Mopfrog of Northeast Tampa 813-321-5969 Our journey has been a marvelous blessing. We not only get to help our planet but also get to help individuals by offering a unique approach to cleaning their homes. At Mopfrog of Northeast Tampa, we enjoy giving our clients a top notch, thoughtful and caring servicing of their homes. We do it with a smile in our hearts and on our faces. As we head out to service our clients for the day, we pray over all aspects of who we are and what we do to help families have more time together and not have to be concerned with ensuring that their home is clean. My fondest memory thus far was servicing a client on Good Friday and when we were leaving, the son who is in his early 20’s said, “it smells clean”. It made my day and reinforced the value of what we offer to clients. We value community and that is why we are part of The Greater Chamber of Temple Terrace. Giving back is integral to who we are as well. We have been part of the Tampa Bay Mom’s Group Holiday Giveaway as well as Creative Loafing’s fund raiser for the Children’s Home of Tampa Bay. We have been selected to be a featured as a prize in The Tampa Bay Mom’s Group Mother’s May Giveaway Event happening May 2014. We are a sponsor for the 22nd Annual Pesto Festo for Sweetwater Organic Community Farm happening in May 2014. Our partnership with Cleaning for a Reason is wonderful. Cleaning For A Reason is a nonprofit organization partnering with maid services to offer free professional house cleanings to improve the lives of women undergoing cancer treatment. Servicing these clients is an honor and privilege. Our last client had her last treatment as we were finishing our last service to her and there was excitement all around for her success! As part of Mopfrog of Northeast Tampa’s cleaning standards and procedures, we employ Green Seal approved products. Green Seal is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding the environment and transforming the marketplace by promoting the manufacture, purchase, and use of environmentally responsible products and services. By utilizing Green Seal Certified products, we are ensuring that our products meet and exceed the standards set forth by the organization. When granted, a certification by Green Seal ensures that a product meets rigorous, science-based leadership standards. This gives manufacturers the assurance to back up their claims and purchasers confidence that certified products are better for human health and the environment. In addition to utilizing eco-friendly, cleaning products, Mopfrog’s cleaning teams use specific tools that are highly effective and preserve the environment. As part of the Mopfrog cleaning policies and procedures, our teams use microfiber cloths, which are densely constructed polyester and nylon fibers that are about 1/16th or an average human hair. By incorporating microfiber cloths as part of our cleaning practice, we are reducing our contribution to the waste stream and the use of water and harmful chemicals. The Mopfrog team also carries our ecologically conscious approach into choosing our vacuum cleaners and additional tools needed to clean your home or small business. To ensure our standards and your expectations are consistently met, we typically send two bonded and insured, highly trained professionals to your home. We provide worry-free service you can count on, at Mopfrog, we guarantee it! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mopfrog-of-NortheastTampa/194321790754645?ref=hl https://twitter.com/MopfrogTampa http://www.mopfrog.com/ne_tampa

In our June meeting, the Homeowner’s Association board voted unanimously to implement a new program called “Property of the Quarter”. We hope to have the program underway by the end of summer. Each quarter, the board and our property management company, Greenacre, will be searching the community high and low looking for that one property which stands out. All residents have to do to qualify is to continue to maintain your property according to the covenants of the community. How easy can that be? The quarterly winner will be recognized in the Homeowner’s Association article in the Gazette. Although it is a great recognition to be property of the quarter, the board will contact the winners before publishing any names. We want to abide by any wishes for privacy by the homeowners. In order to become property of the quarter you cannot have any outstanding violations. One of the most common violations is Trash Cans. Let’s talk trash, may we? Arbor Greene trash pickup days are Monday and Thursday. Recycling and yard waste pickup is on Thursday. Based on city rules and regulation, your receptacles should be placed curbside after sunset the night before and must be removed by sunset the day of pickup. Your trash and recycling receptacles must be stored out of view from the road. Residents may not know this but smaller receptacles are available for both trash and recycling. Any resident can call our servicer, Republic Services at 813-265-0292, and request a smaller receptacle. Republic Services will charge a fee of $30 for each exchanged bin. Our current receptacles for trash and recycling are 96 and 65 gallons respectively. If requesting a smaller receptacle residents have a choice of 65 or 35 gallons for trash and 35 gallons for recycling. The Homeowners Association and Design Review boards are working hard to help make our community a great place to live. Tips For A Successful School Year...

Preventing Violence in our schools

· Student attendance is one of the most important factors to improve learning. Attendance on the first day and you are on your way to perfect attendance. Any student who has 98% or higher student attendance for the entire year should do well.

Tips for preventing violence in our schools, things parents, students and the community can do to help prevent violence.

· Be on time, being tardy cuts into learning time. Employers expect their employees to be on time, so do teachers. · Be ready to learn- this means have a good night’s sleep - at least 8 hours. This includes teenagers. Have a good breakfast which is the most important meal of the day. · Dinner is also an important meal when the family eats together. This is a great time to talk about what is going on at school. Students should be ready for the question “What did you learn or do in school?” Parents should not be satisfied with “Nothing”. · Homework is important for student success and most nights there will be homework. Each family has to find a time, place and way to ensure homework is done well. Doing homework while watching TV just does not work. · Reading is the most important skill for success in school and life. Each family should set aside some time for children to read. Visiting the library together is a great family activity. Research documents that every student should read at least 25 books every year, besides textbooks. Reading 25 books a year helps students increase their vocabulary and to be able to be successful on the next grade level. · Know the rules of the school and each classroom and follow them. This is part of being a good student. Parents should support these rules with their children. Students, who do not behave or follow the rules, will have some disciplinary action which may involve losing a privilege, punishment, or receiving detention. This is as much a part of learning as book studies. Support the teachers and principals. · Communicate with teachers. Do not let questions or problems fester. Teachers are on your side, they need to know what your concerns are so they can help you. · Eventually, nearly all issues have to be resolved by the teacher, counselor, or coach. Start there and then talk with a principal if needed. · Learning is fun! Celebrate your student's every success and attend school activities to express your support while enjoying the observation of your child's achievements.

PARENTS Talk with your child and make them aware of good safety practices - listen to your child and use every chance you have to talk with him/her about violence prevention (in the car, at dinner) be a good role model for your child and handle your own anger and problem solving issues positively. They learn by your example, not just what you tell them. Be aware of your child's location and where he or she "hangs out" and with whom - - tell your child to tell the School Resource Officer, a teacher, or an administrator if he or she has seen a weapon at school or suspects that there is one - - let teachers/school administrators know when something critical is going on in your child's life away from school! - - review school rules with your child - - if your child uses violent behavior to express anger or frustration seek help for him/ her. - - Get actively involved in your child's life from kindergarten to graduation. Attend parent/teacher conferences, join him/her in sporting events, or help him/her in sporting events, or help him/her with homework. Keep all weapons under lock and key and out of reach of your child. STUDENTS · Maintain open lines of communication with your parents. Know that it is alright to tell them there is or may be a danger at your school. · Break the code of silence. Let others know if someone has threatened violence or suicide, has a weapon, or has experienced violence. · Stop and think before you act. Make good choices. Give yourself a "time out" if needed. · Let school administrators, teachers or School Resource Officers know of potential problems/dangers at school. Tell someone if you see a classmate with a firearm, a knife, or any other weapon. · Take responsibility for your actions and use peer pressure to influence others positively. COMMUNITY · Be observant and report crime or suspicious activity wherever you see it in your community. · Catch children being good and reward positive decision making wherever you observe it. · Contact authorities when you see underage child on the street during school hours. · Support school initiatives that suspend or expel youth that commit violent acts. · Volunteer to work in your school and ask how you can become involved in ways you can help children understand school violence prevention and the importance of education. · Volunteer is assist in developing programs that support nonviolence through your business or as a private citizen. 21
