“Trash Talk” Greetings from the Arbor Greene Homeowner’s Association (HOA). This month we want to touch on a common HOA question and a source of confusion for some residents: trash and recycling bins. Republic Services, the trash and recycling collection service for Arbor Greene, also asked that we remind residents of the rules for trash/recycling preparation and pick up. Arbor Greene regular trash (Dark Gray Bin) pick up days are Monday and Thursday. Recycling (Blue Bin) pick up is Monday, and yard waste pick up is Thursday. There is no collection on Federal holidays and pick up resumes on the next normally scheduled collection day. Trash or recycling must fit inside of their respective bins or will not be picked up. Place trash and recycle bins curbside at least 3 feet apart to allow for automated pick up. Yard waste, like tree trimmings and limbs, must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less and tied in bundles, not to exceed 50 pounds. Leaves and tree shrubbery should be placed in bags or refuse cans other than designated trash and recycling bins. Please understand that failure to follow these rules can result in no trash or recycling pick up for that day. Based on city rules and HOA covenants, trash and recycling bins should be placed curbside after 6pm the night before and must be removed by sunset the day of pick up. Trash and recycling bins must also be stored out of view from the road. Not following these rules/covenants can lead to HOA violations. Please note items such as certain batteries, paint cans, plastic bags and aerosol cans should not be put in the recycle bin. For more information on recycling visit www.tampagov.net/solidwaste. Residents can call Republic Services at 813-265-0292 to ask questions about delayed or missed pick ups, offer feedback, or request a smaller bin (fee may apply). Thank you for helping to keep our community beautiful. Paul Boucher HOA Board President

We are pleased to announce that Lou Phillips has completed the painting project of all remaining upper levels of buildings. Gene Dunn Gutter Contracting remains in the community continuing with the gutter installation project. Any questions or concerns regarding either of these projects should be brought to Alicia’s attention. In particular it is important to relay all information pertaining to the observation of dysfunctional water flow so that this can be corrected. Reserve Advisors has completed their review of the community reserves and has determined that we are in a healthy position for all items currently reserved such as gate maintenance, roof, painting, roads, etc. This fall the board intends to secure bids for additional beautification projects such as landscaping, sign post painting, downspout splash guards and others. These items will be factored into the 2017 budget. Along with our community enhancements, as expected we are seeing property values increase. Thank you to all residents who have shown pride and care in their unit and have assisted with facilitating these value increases. We welcome and appreciate your continued involvement and support. Please feel free to reach out to any board member, our community manager or attend a board meeting to learn more about what is happening here in your backyard. Board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm. Respectfully Submitted, Laurie Dykeman, President

Villages of Devonshire August Update It’s hard to believe that this year is going by so fast! Next month we will be starting what I call the “ember months”, since each of them (except for the oddball October) end in “ember”. I thought it would be a good idea for us to “remember” some of our Devonshire covenants and how they apply to us. One of these covenants applies to pets. Many of our Devonshire neighbors have pets and routinely walk them down the street and allow them to “do their business”. It is important to remember that there are certain allowances for pet owners that must be followed. Here is the item regarding pets: An Owner may not keep, raise, or breed any animals except customary household pets such as cats, dogs, pet birds, and fish. Only two dogs shall be kept in a Residential Unit. Owners of a cat or dog shall be required to keep the same on a leash at all times unless kept in an enclosed area. Owners of a cat or dog shall be required to remove immediately all forms of excrement of such pets from the Property, including, but not limited to, lawns, walks, driveways, and parking areas. No pet will be allowed which creates excess noise, emits obnoxious odors, creates unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, or other disturbances of any kind. Remind children to not let their activities, including phone conversations or texting, completely distract them while at a bus stop, school, etc. Their lack of awareness of their surroundings may make them vulnerable to criminals, being hurt by vehicles whose drivers didn’t see them, etc.

Advise children to never talk to, accept rides, or take gifts from strangers. If there’s a suspicious person near a school or bus stop, have your child tell a trusted adult or follow any procedures dictated by their school. As simple as this advice sounds, it can’t be said often enough.

Make sure children’s phones are fully charged and your phone numbers are on “speed dial.” Be sure children know their home phone number and address, your work or cell phone number(s), and how to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.

If you see a suspicious person by a bus stop or school, alert school security or police. To report suspicious activity in New Tampa, immediately call Tampa Police Department’s (TPD) Non-Emergency line (813-231-6130). If you see a crime against a person or property, or think one is about to occur, immediately dial 9-1-1. Always call from a safe location and do not confront suspicious person(s).
