We have an opportunity as residents to help keep Arbor Greene and Tampa Bay Beautiful. We are teaming up with City of Tampa and the Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful initiative to spread awareness of the adverse effects of storm drain pollutants. We are doing so by coordinating the installation of Storm Drain Markers to remind residents to keep debris and pollutants out of our waterways. If you are interested in volunteering a few hours of your time during an upcoming Saturday to help install these markers, please e-mail our Events Coordinator at liza.pereira@arborgreene.com, www.arborgreene.com

We are all connected. We can harm local waterways without realizing it. Debris and other pollutants can make their way into storm drains and ultimately into our waterways. It is important that only rain goes down the storm drains. 1.Don’t Litter. Remove litter, grass clippings, leaves and debris before it enters the storm drains. 2.Remember to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle 3.Pick up after your pet 4.Limit fertilizer and pesticide use. 5.Participate in local waterway clean-up events Litter and debris entering storm drains which leads into our waterways poses as threats to the environment as it can affect water quality, wildlife and contributes to flooding. Stay Beautiful Arbor Greene!!

Property Manager: Janet MacNealy Greenacre Properties, Inc. (813) 936-4147 macnealy@greenacre.com www.greenacre.com “Whose Responsibility Is It Anyway?”

Greetings from the Arbor Greene Homeowner’s Association (HOA). Last month we recognized the Arbor Greene HOA Yard of the Quarter, and introduced the Arbor Greene HOA website: www.arborgreenehoa.com. This month we will address the question of tree trimming, referenced in HOA Covenants and Tampa City Municipal Codes. Do neighbors run into your tree limbs when using sidewalks? Are vehicles running into tree limbs over your street? Are your tree limbs blocking street or traffic signs? Whose responsibility is it to fix these problems? It may surprise you to learn that Arbor Greene Covenants require residents to keep all trees trimmed on your property, including those along your street. How can this be true when the Community Development District (CDD) trimmed the street trees once before? In October 2013, Republic Services began collection of recycling, trash, and yard-waste in New Tampa. An upgraded collection system required new, taller vehicles, to pick up the redesigned trash and recycling bins. These vehicles could not navigate several community villages because of low hanging limbs. To ensure uninterrupted collection service, the CDD coordinated community-wide street tree trimming. Arbor Greene residents benefitted from this temporary service; however, tree trimming ultimately remained a resident responsibility. Tampa Municipal Code requires residents to trim trees at least 8 feet above sidewalks and roads for safety of pedestrians and vehicles, without blocking view of street signs. Properly trimmed trees also significantly reduce the possibility of property damage caused by falling limbs and trees during high winds. The HOA recommends consulting an Arborist to ensure safe tree trimming. For questions, please review the Arbor Greene Covenants on the HOA website and Tampa Municipal Codes. Thank you for making our community one of the best in New Tampa. Paul Boucher HOA Board President

October is here already, and the end of another year is in sight. Now we start to get serious about all of the upcoming Holidays, as we have already seen with all of the Halloween goodies in the stores! Here in Devonshire, we also look forward to our semi-annual “get-together, where our Devonshire residents gather at the clubhouse, have some food, drink, desserts, and just “catch up” on what’s happening around us. For those of you who have not yet participated, this would be a great time to do so! As the seasons change, so does our lawn irrigation watering times. The good news is that our irrigation systems are monitored to be sure that we are in compliance with the City of Tampa watering schedules, and are adjusted accordingly. So please do not worry about having to change your irrigation time settings, as they will be done for you by our landscape contractor. October is also a great time of year for planting Fall Annuals. Last month, our HOA Board of Directors approved our new Design Review Criteria for Devonshire, and we can accessorize our landscaping by planting Annuals without prior Design Review Board approval. The University of Florida has some great recommendations for Fall plantings, with plant suggestions, tips for planting and care of the plants, and you can visit their website at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg319 for this information to help you keep your plants healthy and colorful for the entire Fall season! We want to thank residents for the questions regarding doorto-door solicitation. In short, door-to-door solicitation is not allowed in AG. Despite the community’s efforts, some contractors and service providers may use a current service call or a prior customer’s address to solicit new business and improve their sales. In the past, residents complained that some solicitors used aggressive tactics, such as placing a foot in the doorway to stop the homeowners from closing their door. Please note that the TPD and NWA discourage residents from opening their doors to anyone who they do not know. Other complaints included a suspicious salesman, claiming to represent a security company, offering to upgrade alarms while asking residents details about their home security systems, or lack thereof. In other areas of Tampa, fake solicitors forced their way into houses, or used solicitations to surveil houses, later resulting in burglaries. Residents can report door-to-door solicitations to the AG Community Management team, the CDD, and NWA. The TPD and NWA recommend immediately contacting the TPD if a visitor to your home appears suspicious or acts aggressively. Your timely communication is key in helping to keep our community one of the safest in New Tampa. AG residents should immediately call TPD’s NonEmergency number (813-231-6130) to report suspicious activity or person(s). If you think a crime is about to occur or has been committed against person(s) or property, then immediately dial 9-1-1. In either case, call the TPD from a safe location and do not confront the suspicious person(s) or criminal suspects. If you wish to receive security tips and other information from the TPD, please email us at ArborGreeneNWA@hotmail.com. Joining the email group does not obligate you to any NWA activity. AG NWA is an allvolunteer run program overseen by the TPD. Thank you for your continued help in making AG one of the nicest and safest communities in New Tampa.
