During the 14th award ceremony of Information-Week, AGRANA for the 7th consecutive year won the recognition as one of the 50 most innovative companies in Mexico. AGRANA participated with the "SAP GAP CLOSING" project within the category of process-manufacturing, with an investment of $ 6 million pesos. Frozen Fruit. The convenient
Frozen foods are the convenient and efficient solution to meet food demand, in the case of fruit supply shortage is mainly affected by the seasonality of the harvest of the fruit, so the frozen fruit is the best solution to meet the demand for both industrial and final consumers. (*) Moreover the freezing process extends exponentially fruits' shelf life, retaining most of their properties and nutritional value. The fruits suitable for the freezing process are those that are at their optimum ripeness level, with the proper size, color and sweetness and no defects or pollution of any kind.

and efficient solution! Frozen fruits allow consumers to have fruits available just like they were freshly cut, even out of their season. Agrana Fruit Mexico (AFM): Abel, thank you very much for your time. Could you share with us a little about your professional background and experience that have taken you to be the Administration and Finance Director of AFM? Abel Pantoja (AP): I'm an Accountant graduated with honors from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, native of Mexico City, I started my professional career in costs at Robin H pharmaceutical; in 1987 I moved to Queretaro for a job position at Kellogg's, where I worked in the area of accounting and costs for seven years, after that, I switched to the automotive industry and for nearly 20 years I worked and developed companies like TRW, Takata, Shape Corp, etc., and also I started 8 companies in the aviation industry, such as Bombardier. In 2013 the option to work in Agrana was open, a proposal that represented both an opportunity and a challenge; finally the empathy I had with Carlos Garcia (General Director of AGRANA Fruit Latin America) and the challenge that caught my attention, made me decide to be part of AGRANA Fruit Mexico, these two years have been intense, implementing finance reengineering, that required processes and personnel restructuring, but we have achieved positive results. We have a highly committed administrative team working under the same goal.
AFM: What is the major professional challenge you have faced as Director of your area? AP: Making a change of mindset in the people and change the way how things are done. People often are immersed in a way of working and perceive the change as a threat, so the biggest challenge has been to persuade and convince people that if you want different results, you have to do things differently. It is important that everyone understands that each one has a specific function and they're an important part that has an impact on the entire organization. I have an open-door policy and I like to listen and understand people. AFM: From your perspective, which are the determinant factors for business success? AP: Any successful business must have a balance between the cold part like numbers, and the warm part which is the human factor. It requires setting measurable and well-defined objectives and goals under a business model, in order to know how we will work; additionally employees must be developed and motivated to keep them engaged and satisfied with their labor. AFM: At work, what do you like the most? AP: I consider Agrana as my closure-life project, I like interacting with the personnel, meet people deeper and integrate everyone in the team. I am also passionate about financial and cost analysis, since they are the core of a business. What I don't like are the legal aspects, although they are important part, I carry out them as an obligation. AFM: Finally, what book you'd recommend and why? AP: "The easy side of difficult people" by Cesar Lozano, I'm currently reading it and so far I liked the background it has, with a very experiential approach that makes analyze yourself introspectively, and provides learning.

Three Wise Men also work
For the second consecutive year as part of the Agrana Rewards Program, our collaborators actively participated in the collection of toys for children in the in most need surrounding communities.

at AGRANA. At AGRANA, among different actions with social approach that we perform, we do have a favorite: The campaign to collect and donate toys. From last year we gave a special touch to this activity and formed teams of three people each, alluding to the Three Wise Men, in which employees coordinated activities for raising funds to purchase toys that were later given away among children from nearby communities.
Here they are some of our Three Wise Men that have distributed more smiles!
Yogurt jelly with strawberry sauce Ingredients: 1 liter of yogurt. 3 tablespoons of powdered gelatin. ½ cup of cold water. 500g of frozen strawberries. ½ cup of water. 1 cup of sugar.
Preparation Time: 20 minutes. Serves: 12.
Recipe
Preparation: 1. Put the gelatin to hydrate with the cold water, mixing well. 2. In a blender whisk together the yogurt with 1/3 cup of sugar. 3. Put the gelatin in the microwave for 10 second intervals until it becomes liquid. 4. Add gradually the gelatin into the yogurt mixture. 5. Pour the mixture into individual molds and refrigerate until they are completely chilled. 6. To prepare the sauce, simply liquefy frozen strawberries with the remaining 2/3 cup of sugar and water. 7. Pour the strawberry sauce in the jellies. You can decorate with mint leaves.
