WEA Study Day

Causes of the First World War 10am to 4pm

£26 includes lunch (no concessions)

2014 marks the centenary of the start of the Great War of 1914–1918. The seeds of this monumental tragedy were sown several hundred years earlier. The study day will link the seminal events between 19th Century empires and attitudes, employing unforeseen and uncontrollable 20th Century technologies. Led by Roy Doughty.

Threepenny Bit Summer Ceilidh 7.30pm

Meet local designers and makers who will be selling their handmade jewellery, cards, ceramics, photographs and more in the hall.

Threepenny Bit is a unique example of how traditional dance tunes and contemporary sounds can blend together into a totally fresh interpretation of folk music. This raucous 8-piece band combines a group of diehard folkies with some of the finest young jazz and classical musicians in the south to create an exciting live show you won’t forget! Their big stomping sound will have you dancing all night.
