2023 christmas show The annual Christmas Show “Not A Creature Was Stirring” (Not Even a Mouse!) returns this year with another spectacular display of talent and entertainment thanks to Queenstown Lakes District Council. With cartoon spirit and imagination, Margaret O’Hanlon has created and brought to life a heartwarming and magical story that will delight and entertain both adults and children alike. With an all local cast, stunning choreography by Anna Stuart, popular songs and traditional carols, “Not A Creature Was Stirring’ is the perfect holiday show for the whole family. Arrowtown's Kane Viggers(Muffin the Cat) and Bethany Graf(Molly the Dog) are two of the main characters in the show. Kane is a year 13 student who has a particular gift for computer coding. He has great memories of being involved with the Christmas show in the past, and was instrumental in creating Kane - 2019 in Stepping the current environment of into the World of Christmas the older cast members becoming role models for the younger cast members. Bethany recently won one of three Distinction in Emerging Talent awards at the recent National Theatre Awards for her acting. in Queenstown Bethany featured as the lead Bethany - 2018 Stars of Christmas in the Christmas Show for two shows. “Not A Creature Was Stirring” (Not Even a Mouse!) is on Sunday 10 December at the Queenstown Event Centre, at 1pm and 5pm. ‘Excited to be preparing for our 2023 Christmas Show, almost as excited as the children in the show!’ Jan Maxwell, QLDC Relationship Manager Arts and Events. impact100 The Lakes District Museum was one of two recipients of this year’s Impact100 Wakatipu’s annual grants. The museum will be using their funds to support their digitisation project - ensuring that its archives are preserved and easily accessible for the community for generations to come. This is not the first time Arrowtown based organisations have benefited from Impact100’s grant programme - with Nairn Street based Living Options being its inaugural winner in 2020. Living Options used its $100,000 grant to help fund the Tom Pryde Centre, which supports people in the Wakatipu living with disabilities and their families,

serving as a meeting place, with activities on-site including art, dancing and drama. Impact100 Wakatipu is a programme of the Wakatipu Community Foundation, and since it was founded in 2020 has donated almost $700,000 to charities in the Wakatipu Basin. It’s a women’s giving circle based on a simple global model; at least 100 women donating, or being sponsored to donate $1,000 each, 100% of which gets granted to charities in the Basin. In addition to the museum, KiwiHarvest also won $100,000 to buy a new van, with the runners up being the Queenstown Trails Trust, the Lightfoot Initiative and Southern Lakes Sanctuary who each got a $3,500 donation to go towards their work. 2024 marks Impact100 Wakatipu’s 5th year and it is enrolling new supporters until it closes on 30th April, when it will announce how much it has to donate for 2024 at their ‘Big Reveal’ event. It is also launching an ‘Impactship’ programme to enable more women from the community to join. To find out more about Impact100 Wakatipu and how to enrol go to: www.impact100wakatipu.org

arrowtown business news Arrowtown swept up multiple awards at the prestigious Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards, at Parliament House in Wellington. Arrowtown won the coveted title of “Most Beautiful Small Town" triumphing over its competitor, Tūrangi. This achievement follows Arrowtown's success in the same category in 2020. The judges were particularly impressed with the vast improvement in environmental improvement and sustainability initiatives the town had implemented over the last three years. In addition to this recognition, Arrowtown’s Buckingham Street was declared “Best Street”, sponsored by Resene, winning against Beach Road in Akaroa and Gladstone Road in Gisborne. Nicky Busst, Manager of APBA expressed her pride in Arrowtown's accomplishments. web arrowtown.com
