get ready for winter

As we are now in the warmer months, AVA encourages those with wood-burners to look ahead and make the most of reasonable firewood prices now. Purchasing now gives an excellent benefit of ensuring that your firewood will be suitably dry come next winter. AVA offers you the loan of a moisture meter to test the dryness of your firewood with a refundable $20 bond. These easy hand-held meters are available from the APBA office on Arrow Lane – call in or email Nicky at info@ arrowtown.com

a full weekend of music We are excited to announce Arrow Sounds 2022 with an awesome lineup of Wakatipu musicians playing in Arrowtown and the surrounding venues, for 3 days of music on 11th, 12th & 13th February. There are over 27 gigs playing in 12 venues during the day and into the night on the 3 days. It's going to be a lot of fun. All gigs are free to enjoy, with no cover charge at any of the venues. We have a host of solo artists, duo’s and bands performing across the festival, playing outside on the village green, to playing in cafes and bars. Everyone in the community is invited, including families and individuals alike, so we hope everyone will come and check it out. Its local music by the people for the people. This year, again, the highlight will be the school bands gig playing on the village green on the Saturday from 2–6 pm show-casing our talented primary & WHS bands. This is one of our main focuses for the festival, encouraging and promoting music for our younger generation. Getting the kids on stage, in front of an audience, is the coolest thing and the community love it. This year Bayleys Arrowtown are our main sponsor, and will be helping to put this gig on and raise funds needed for the school music departments. Our vision is to make this a yearly event and grow it each year. We feel that this is a unique event due to the involvement of Arrowtown businesses collaborating together to make such an event happen. Check out the poster and book yourselves a weekend in Arrowtown! 3

competition time Arrowtown Promotion and Business Association (APBA) and Sustainable Queenstown (SQ) recently launched SUCfree Arrowtown to encourage behaviour change within the QLDC area when it comes to our 'throwaway culture'. Late last year we targeted the businesses in Arrowtown but now it’s the residents turn with some freebies! How to get Involved? Join us, local Arrowtown cafes and businesses in reducing single use cups (SUC) when getting that morning cuppa or afternoon pick me up and bring your own mug, keep cup or jar. Starting from Monday, 17th January for the next 6 weeks, we are encouraging you to BYO and be in to win a weekly $20 voucher at your favourite cafe in Arrowtown that offers “suc” alternatives. To be in the draw - Show Us Your Mug! • Share a photo at your favorite Arrowtown Cafe with your reusable cup on Instagram or Facebook for your chance to win! • Tag @SUCfreewhakatipu and use the hashtag #sucfreearrowtown in your post. For an additional entry, tag a mate you want to see using a reusable cup on their next cafe trip! Remember that “use your own” doesn’t need to stop with cups. Always consider your options and use what you’ve got when you can. Learn more at SUCfree Whakatipu Facebook Page. 5
