celebrating 10 years of goodwill This festive season, Ray White will continue its successful charity drive ‘A Little Ray of Giving’ for the tenth year running. This holiday campaign is a tradition for Ray White and serves as an opportunity for us to connect with our community while raising awareness and muchneeded resources for those in need. As a charitable initiative, the campaign will see both our branches, Queenstown & Arrowtown partner up with Baskets of Blessing to accept gift donations for struggling families across the district. Prior to our Arrowtown office re-opening mid December, we’ll be collecting gifts at our Queenstown branch (1 Church Lane, Queenstown) where our giving tree is already up, and our little Mini Cooper ‘Lil Ray’ will be available for direct pickups within Arrowtown, simply email arrowtown.nz@raywhite.com with your details and we’ll swing by to see you. As a thank you to the community for your contribution over the years, Santa will be visiting the brand new Ray White Arrowtown office on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th December from 1–3 pm. Bring your children down for a photo with Santa and some community Christmas spirit. Ray White has run this initiative since 2012, and every year, offices from across Australia and New Zealand have collected thousands of gifts and donations for not-for-profit organisations and charities and uplifted hundreds of communities in the process. 3

museum update 10am –

2pm Library Green

No two days are ever the same at the Lakes District Museum. Lately, bags of horse hair and buckets of cow poo have been turning up. Our plasterers are using traditional methods to finish our building using age-old techniques. There are always lots of things going on behind the scenes. We are planning new displays that will fill the two newly earthquake strengthened floors of the BNZ building. There are so many stories, one of our biggest challenges is having to choose which ones to leave out! We are picking the most instructive and interesting artefacts and planning on how to display them in engaging ways. One of the most photographed buildings in Arrowtown, the original Police Hut at Butler’s Green, needs some urgent work. Some of the proceeds from sales from our current art exhibition will go towards this project. We have curated an exhibition of both professional and amateur local artists. The exhibition will change over the summer as pieces are sold and will be replaced with new ones-make sure to come and have a look more than once. Check out the Museum Book Shop, locally made art and crafts too.

It is all about Bridges in Year 3/4 at the moment. The classes were lucky enough to have David Clarke from the Lakes District Museum come in and share his wealth of knowledge about the history of bridges in our area. There are also some amazing posters and models of Bridges from Around the World - and we've just had our Bridge Exhibition for the rest of the school to enjoy! 13
