don't miss from scratch This weekend the legendary group, From Scratch, will take you on a magical, sonic journey. With original DIY instruments, creating rhythms and sounds and an unforgettable Pacifica message for eyes and ears of all ages. Featuring their stunning historic work, Pacific 3, 2, 1, Zero, their sound and songs are a conch-call to the fallout of nuclear testing and climate change on low-lying Pacific islands. bulls successful year Despite a shortened and covid-disrupted season, Arrowtown Rugby Club have enjoyed a successful year both on and off the field. Club President, Amy Wilson-White, reflected on enormous support from the community at the club’s annual Awards Dinner which was held on 29 August. In a difficult year for many businesses, the local club was very grateful to be part of such a supportive and unified community, she said. A season highlight had been player and coach Aidan Winter reaching 200 games for the club. The Winter Family have played a large role in the club for many years and three generations can be seen on this week’s cover. The senior coaching team of Aidan Winter, Dan Eyles and Fa’avae Kuresa awarded 'Player of the Year' to loose flanker Adam Hill. Hill was a strong leader within the team and had much experience which he was happy to share. Scrums have been a major driver of the Bulls success in 2020 and prizes for 'Forward of the Year', the 'Players Player' and 'Top Try Scorer' were awarded to Tom McKenzie, Matt Flower and Ben Carr, respectively – the team’s starting front row. 'Back of the Year' went to halfback Jackson Wallace and the trophy recognising an outstanding contribution to the team went to Connor Bissett. James Smith, also a halfback, was awarded with the 'Most Improved' trophy recognising excellent development in his game. In a special presentation, the 'Keith Crawford Memorial Trophy' was awarded to Sarah Precious who had done an enormous amount of work for the club in improving communications through social media as well in the hospitality department.

arrowtown village association news planting time

With the start of spring, the Arrowtown Village Association and Arrowtown Choppers have organised another planting operation on Tobin’s Face and along the Arrow River. 400 exotic colour (non-spreading) trees will be delivered this week in preparation for planting starting this Thursday night – starting 10 September. As with last year’s effort, people are invited to come along and help get all the trees in the ground. We will meet at Ford Street car park (near Tobin’s Bridge) from 5:00pm onwards and plant until dark. This year, the planting sites are a little easier to get to, so everyone is encouraged to come along. Please bring a pair of gloves, a shovel, and some sturdy shoes. We will continue to plant every Thursday evening from 5pm until all 400 trees are in the ground. Based on the success of the 2019 spring plantings, we have continued with the same species of trees which will provide vibrant autumn colour in the years to come. Check them out on Tobin's Track over the next 6 months. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/ arrowtownchoppers/
