A Note from the Chairman Good afternoon everyone We welcome the officials, players and supporters of Portsmouth based side Moneyfields, for today’s Sydenham’s Wessex Premier League fixture. Moneyfields are currently having an excellent season and are top of the table on 82 points, 7 points ahead of closest rivals, Blackfield & Langley. In their last match at home to Cowes Sports, they gained a 2-0 victory. Last Saturday, at home to Lymington Town, we were beaten 2-1, in an entertaining match, I am sure Jimmy and the players will view as three points lost. Although we showed an improvement in our recent form and played well, we missed a host of very good goal scoring opportunities that if taken, would have given us a comfortable win. Jemal Wiseman scored in the first half, to give us a 1-0 lead. One highlight was an impressive debut at left-back, from youth team player Daniel Head, who made some incisive tackles and was resolute in his defending. Last Tuesday evening, away to Hamworthy United, on their new 3G pitch, we gained a comfortable 4-1 victory, thanks to goals from Silvano Obeng (2), Jesse Waller-Lasson and Tyrell Mitford. I understand some teams have had difficulty with the 3G pitch, but it did suit our style of play, plus the fact that we regularly train on our own 3G pitch. Going in at half-time 1-0 down, we dominated the
second half and this win should give the players a much needed boost in confidence and provide a good platform to take on today’s opponents in an up- beat mind set. Congratulations to Jimmy, the management team and players, by beating Hamble Club reserves by 2-1 (aet), in the Southampton Senior Cup semi-final, they have booked a place in the final for the third consecutive year. As holders of the trophy for the past two seasons, we now face the winners of the Brockenhurst v Sholing semi - final, at St Mary’s stadium. It is a remarkable achievement, but we had a hard fought contest with Hamble, who pushed us all the way, for the full 120 minutes. Our goals came with a cracking shot from Jamal Wiseman and a fine finish from Silvano Obeng. In the reserves last home game against Verwood Town reserves, we gained an impressive 6-2 home win. Goal scorers were Craig Hunt, Giovanni Landu (2) and congratulations to the ever improving Ethan Taylor, who scored a hat trick. A big thank you to the Test Park ground staff for their hard work and effort, making the pitch playable, despite considerable damage that has occurred in recent games. Enjoy your visit to Test Park

The Opponents: Moneyfields Club history: The club began its current incarnation back in 1987. Having reached to upper age group in the Portsmouth junior, a group of players decided to continue playing as Portsmouth Civil Service reserves. Gradually most of the players moved up to the first team and by 1991 the side had risen from the Portsmouth League to Hampshire League division one on the back of three successive promotions. The club’s league success was matched in cup competitions with Portsmouth Senior Cup wins in 1991 and 1992, and Hampshire Intermediate Cup victories in 1992 and 1993. After several seasons in the upper reaches of the Hampshire League, it became apparent that the club would have to move away from their home at Copnor Road if they were to progress. After scouring the city, the club agreed a lease on the old Moneyfields sports ground in Copnor, and so, in 1994, it moved to its current ground and became part of the club whose name they now carry. The Division One years were particularly successful and under the management of George Wain and Mickey Gee, Moneys never finished lower than sixth and clinched the 1996/97 league championship by 15 points. Success on the field was matched by extensive ground developments off it thanks to a national lottery sports fund grant. New changing rooms, offices and a floodlit allweather pitch were constructed as part of the scheme to bring the facilities up to Wessex League standard. With the requisite developments in place, the 1997/98 campaign saw a tense battle with Blackfield and Langley to see who would claim

a spot in the Jewson Wessex league. Although Blackfield just pipped them in the table, Moneyfields’ better facilities meant it was they who claimed promotion. The first season in the Wessex league saw the club surprise many people by finishing sixth. The next couple of seasons saw the club post respectable top-ten finishes, but, after finishing a disappointing sixteenth in 2000/01, Messrs Wain and Gee decided to step down after 13 seasons charge. Under the managerial partnerships of Calvin Hore and Terry Arnold/Paul Gregory, and Craig Stafford and Miles Rutherford, the club has established itself in the middle third of the table as well as embarking on a series of runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase. The management line up was boosted in 2004/05 by the arrival of Bobby De St Croix and Alan Smith from Havant and Waterlooville. Where the duo management led us to mid table, for two seasons and getting to the final of the Portsmouth senior cup in 2005/06 losing 4-3 to Gosport borough at west leigh park. And in 2006/07 finsihing 3rd round of the FA Vase against AFC Totton 2007/08 Saw the sudden departure midseason of Craig Stafford, leading a season to finishing 7th in the league. Finishing as Runners up in the league cup from Wimborne town who beat us up by 1-0. And reaching the 2nd Qualifier in the FA Cup against Team Bath. 2008/09 Saw Moneyfields Best Start to the season leading the remaining 21 teams for a short period of time, and seing young
Connor Bailey Scoring Moneys 100th Goal of the season. The Season Ending positively with the first team and reserves both Finishing third in the table 2009/10 saw Moneyfields, worst season at home, with only 5 home wins all season leaving the club in 12th place. The Reserves ending in 4th place. After five seasons of Moneyfields Glory Bobby St Croix Retired as Manager. Replaced by Former Manager Micky Gee son Graeme Gee who has also been a very loyal player to the team over the years. 2010/11 Season saw us finishing seventh, in the Wessex premier, with Warren Hunt topping a club record of 35 goals in a season, beating Previous Top Season Goal Scorer Lee Moulds. The Reserves Finishing Fourth In The Wessex Combination, With the reserves losing 1-0 In the final of the Portsmouth Senior Cup against Horndean. 2011/12 Season saw us finishing Fourth in the Wessex Premier with Former AFC Bournmouth player Steve Hutchinson
finishing Top Goal Scorer of the Season at 34 Goals. The Reserves Finishing Fourth in the new forms Wyvern Combination Football League Premier Division With the reserves losing for the second year in the row in the Portsmouth senior cup Final against United services, being hosted at the glorious Fratton Park Grounds losing 4-3. 2012/13 finalists in the Portsmouth Senior Cup ended when the Club won the trophy in 2013. 2013/14 were losing finalists in the Portsmouth Senior Cup 2014-15 season saw us finishing Fourth Wessex Premier league and reaching second round FA Vase 2015-2016 Saw Moneyfields manager Miles Rutherford resign after 12years been replaced with Dave Carter from Horndean take over as manager in October then finishing eighth in the Wessex Premier league and seeing Moneyfields reaching the fourth of the FA Vase and seeing the reserves finishing second in the Wyvern Combination Football League Premier Division .

ON a saturated Test Park surface, these teams put up a most decent performance which was won by the visitors due to a goal scored late in the game. The Team Solent line-up lacked five regular players but, even taking that into consideration, it was a strong-looking team. Young Daniel Head was handed his debut on the left side for Solent.
Solent, with just one point from their previous three league outings, began the game brightly as Nolan controlled an Orvis corner and his shot was deflected away for a further corner.

Later, a fine pass by Mitford found Obeng whose firm shot rebounded off the legs of Williamson in the visitors goal. Sheedy tried a 30-yard effort that went just over the Lymington bar. Lymington got forward with Fuller’s distant effort going wide and a firm strike by Magee was met by a near post save from Webber. Solent went in front when Waller-Lassen got to the dead ball line on the right and crossed to the back stick where Wiseman applied the finish. The Solent lead didn’t last long though as Lymington won a corner that Fee took and Magee’s glancing header drifted all the way into the far corner. Mitford could have put Solent back in front but was disappointed to shoot wide following good work by WallerLassen and Wiseman. Waller-Lassen took a free-kick on the edge of the box but it went just wide of the post. HT: 1-1. Adekunle forced Williamson to a diving save early in the second half. Lymington enjoyed a good spell with a Magee effort striking the bar and, on another attack, Willett stabbed wide. Tate and Strikland both also shot wide with Fee involved in both build-ups. Mitford, with a delightful touch, got past two visiting defenders and dribbled towards goal but unfortunately the finish didn’t match the fine approach work. Williamson blocked from Obeng whilst Wiseman, who latched onto a Thorn cross, got past the keeper but it was cleared and Williamson gathered following a scramble around the

Lymington goal. It was Lymington who got ahead with just five minutes left as a short pass by Fee found sub Hawkins who netted with a fine 20-yard shot high into the Solent net; it proved to be the winner. FT: 1-2. A draw might have been the fairest outcome but that late strike settled it. In taking account the pitch condition the teams did provide an entertaining game and it was well officiated. But, the surface, reminiscent of treading through treacle in areas, didn’t help the usual Solent ‘pass and move’ game. Wiseman netted on his 100th Solent appearance whilst Thorn, usually a full-back, showed how adaptable he is with a sound show alongside Nolan in the centre of the defence.
