Lieutenant Governor’s Greeting Hey division nine Sharks, Thank you guy so much for coming to the August Divisional! I hope you guys had a blast! Summer is coming to an end, which mean we’re about to get busy. I strongly encourage everyone to start planning ahead before an event- this will help you to stay organized in both school and key club work. As I mentioned, many events are being spread by weekly updates and social medias, don’t be afraid to approach your club officers if you wish to attend! In conclusion, I wish everyone to enjoy the last bit summer and I can’t wait to see you during September. Yours in service, Ruoxin Lin Lieutenant Governor New York District Key Club Division 9 Ruoxinlin.ltg@nydkc.org

Chinatown Beautification Weekend

Chinatown Beautification Weekend “The Chinatown clean up was a fun experience. I was able to meet many new faces from other Key Clubs. Most of the volunteers there were from Division 8 and 11 but they were all nice and enthusiastic people! We also got a visit from the Fung Bros, which was cool.” Raymond Liao Webmaster Midwood High School

Speak up & Clean up

Speak up & Clean up “We helped Assemblyman William Colton clean up the Bath Beach neighborhood. The goal behind the Speak up & Clean up campaign was to inform residents and businesses about sanitation rules, and to encourage them to keep the neighborhood clean and to do their part in maintaining a better community. Many groups from various schools attended this event, so we were split off into smaller teams based on the clubs from each school. Each group was given plastic bags and gloves for collecting trash on the streets, a sign to hold and fliers to distribute. My group, BTHS Key Club, diligently picked up the numerous pieces of litter on the streets and separated them according to recyclables and non-recyclables. It was appalling the pile of trash we collected, many of which were cigarette butts and cans/bottles. When we distributed fliers to the store-owners, they also agreed that the streets in the neighborhood were filthy and expressed their deep gratitude for our enthusiasm in cleaning up and spending our time on a sunny, Friday afternoon helping for a great cause.” Tiffany Le Vice President of Brooklyn Technical High School Key Club 2015-2016

August Divisional

August Divisional

“Everyone had a blast at the August divisional.”

Sabrina Yee President John Dewey High School

August Divisional “This divisional, located all the way in Staten Island, hosted by our very own Mr. Gioia, might have been one of the best ones in the history of divisional. There was decent seating, and a good amount of food (which, of course, makes everything better). Key Clubbers from both Staten Island and Brooklyn united to share ideas of upcoming projects and ultimately, had fun talking and playing in the pool!” Jasper Tangchitsumran Bulletin Editor Brooklyn Technical High School

“I had an amazing time at the August divisional. Although I didn't go into the pool, I enjoyed the time I spent getting to understand what Key Club stands for and what Key Club does for its community. I was also glad to have met some amazing people who share the same passion in helping others and I got to know my fellow executives better. I am truly appreciative of the experience I received and it will be memorable to me.” Winnie Chen Secretary Brooklyn Technical High School
